Winter #Forzathon Shop, Festival Playlist events and rewards through November 12

Yay, I got a mention. lol. Ok, so maybe I have issues, but I love my limos. I have four of them all set up differently, including one for drifting. But Dirt Track Date is my favorite. Thanks for the shout out.

The Trial - So I ran this with quite a few vehicles just for fun. The three tracks are pretty different from each other. The first is nearly all speed while the last is total control. So I started with a tune I had for the Datsun 510. It simply lacked the speed to do well on the first track. Once it got to the gravel/dirt section, I gained spots up into 6th, but overall not a good match. Second track did well placing 3rd fighting through from the back. Third track, Ambleside, it destroyed. lol. I was about half a track length ahead by the end. Ended up blanking most of the field with oddly enough a single AI right behind me. Also ran the 1990 Nissan Pulsar and the 1990 Mazda RX-7. Both did well. Pulsar had better traction, RX-7 had better speed. But the best for me was the 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5. I feel it could have a little more top end, but it out accelerated everyone and when it did hit it’s peak, it took the turns flat out and kept everyone far behind. Blanked half the field on the second track and won at Ambleside but not as much grip as the Datsun. Gonna retune the Datsun to see if I get get some speed out of it.

PGG - Ran a 1973 Ford Escort RS1600 because I had it tuned already…didn’t realize it was RWD. Soooo not recommended lol. Nearly everyone was a 77 Escort. Two Fulvias were also in it. So, kinda boring. Still won and that was with two untuned Escorts on my side.

Last Chance Saloon - So in keeping to my word, I will choose the Limo every event they have for Super Saloons. It just tracks really well, holds a great rally-style powerslide through the tight gravel turns and has a good feel to it. It’s a lot of fun.

Rally 'Round the Flag - I just now realized I never saved my C600 tune for the 1990 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R. It did really well, decent speed, great control. Then I modded it up to 700 for the Trial and forgot to save the 600 version.

Beginner’s Truck - So I was looking at either a Jeep, the Scout, or a Hummer (might still do) and then saw the low PI Range Rover. It pulls a little slow at the start but then builds and holds it. It is a little tight in the suspension, it favors more a dirt track than open CC but it still did well enough. Even outran a wild Velociraptor that made its way into the series. lol.

PR Stunts - all three Someone mentioned doing all three with the RS200, and since the speed zone was def calling for it, decided to use it for all of them. The Danger Sign needs as much run up as you can give it though.

I’m getting really tired of doing the trial. So much deadweight out there. I don’t mind carrying, I really don’t. But FAR to often we lose because the rest of my team couldn’t beat a single AI, or they spend all of each race trying their absolute best to sabotage other teammates. Sometimes both!

Barely scraped a win this time, in spite of my teammates absolute best efforts to lose by any means necessary. Maybe it’s time to rethink the trial’s spot in the playlist. It’s clear the majority of players are not mature enough to play it, and there comes a point where I don’t want to help people who actively and willfully pursue making my day worse.

I’m generally a cheerful and friendly person, but there are moments where I’m tempted to either throw races or retaliate, because these people don’t deserve the reward at the end. Trying and failing I can tolerate. It’s the people who show up with 609 rated cars expecting to be carried and/or just corner bomb and try (most often in vain) to run teammates off the road I want to punish.

If removing the Trial is not an option, how about ghosting teammate collisions? I doubt that will get the message through to these incredibly thick skulled people. but it would ease the pain and frustration of clicking on it, and will allow me to carry these idiots a little easier when I don’t have to adjust my driving to avoid being rammed constantly.

To be clear: I’m not talking about jostling for positioning. Love taps and incidental contact are A-OK in my book. I’ve had Trials with good drivers where, once the first two rounds are done and won, things get a little rougher as we try to determine who is truly best. Cheers and I am so down for that.

Should’ve been day 1 feature. The game was originally entirely designed around co-op play, but there was never much interest in it.

The Trial is actually a good mode, far better than things added later such as the Eliminator, but, like you said, the community just doesn’t accept it.

+1 for that.

I call those players you mentioned with the low PI cars leeches, their car choice is usually evident of the effort they’ll put in.

As for those who cause nothing but trouble I just can’t put myself in the minds of these people, why would you buy a game in any genre that you have no intention of playing properly?

Then again as revealed a few posts up parts of the player base can’t do something as simple as check the Autoshow, something that’s right in front of them every single time they get into the game after it’s loaded so perhaps I’m the daft one for still being surprised.

Do people still find the trial difficult to win? The only trials I can recall in the last year or so where my teams have lost more than 50% of trials are S2 street (but, in reality, the bugged game still usually gives you the win) and buggies cross country. Otherwise, whilst the overall standard of person entering the trial is relatively poor, it feels the drivatars are also pretty dumbed down. My team wasn’t great this week but they still easily got enough supporting points to win all three races comfortably. I never struggle to get full teams either, so I guess it remains fairly popular.

Well, hard to tell.
In this week trial we won every trial I was in and in none of them I had to block drivatars. There was even one trial with 2 untuned mkIV Supras (RWD) and 2 other untuned/not B700 cars and we still won easily. Rank/level/prestige of teammates didn’t matter.
But last week I had to block drivatars in most of my runs.

Last week was C cross country? I think I did it three or four times and my teams won all of them. I thought the drivatars were slow but I guess the courses are tough enough that novice drivers might struggle.

I never block. I don’t feel that’s good for teammates who may be wanting a challenge and have a desire to improve.

ahh, yes, C class.
So two weeks ago? Was thinking about that S1 with Cotswold sprint

I block when I see that they struggle. It is dynamic situation

I’d say it really does depend on the mix. None of them recently have been as tough as the CC buggy from so long ago now, but I have also improved considerably so my measure has changed.

Even up to 2 stars, I still see people entering untuned cars. Not just below optimized, I have a few cars just a few points under…but def full stock. There are also those that are all speed and no control…those are typically the corner crashers. Last week or the week prior was especially toxic with the trial being decided by combat, lol. This week only one race had a toxic driver, so I take those odds. It doesn’t happen too often anymore, but I will get a few groups where half the group has to be carried. Like literally 0 points. So that can make it tricky…especially when it comes to the end and they don’t drop off.

Overall they are not too tough to get past. At best two tries without serious bad luck.

Buggies is a difficuly category but with the right buggy and tune it was somewhat easy.

Yup, I’m still using El Barto’s tune for that buggy. lol

Let me start with this: sometimes, only sometimes when season changes if it is lower than S2 (or even S1) I just pick whatever I have that is controllable and in upper half of PI class. In my defence, In these few months playing I managed to learn I can race easily on Expert and I realized AI in trial is not so strong as in singleplayer…
With that out of the way, in all these months I managed to pick up some tuned cars so almost each trial now I have car for it. As for example this week I got MX5 with tune I got few months ago. Then it was not winter and it was 3 wins by a mile(with my lower level then I was sure it is the car). Now it is winter and still I managed to win all 3 races once and 2/3 (controller batteries gave warning at 15% and went out on 95% in race 1) second time. I’ll try to find which tune it is to share.
