Racing simulator without flags or ranked play?

I've always been a fan of racing games and I just find it odd that FM just completely skips over the topic of flags during racing (yellow/red/black). Is there some reason for this that i'm unaware of? Why not add these to the game? It will only add to the immersion..
Secondly I do not understand why there is no skill based ranking system for online play. Has there been any mention of this feature coming to the game? I'm pretty sure it was in FM3(4?)

* In my opinion the focus on the racing in FM has never been F1-esque. The races are a little too short to use a full flag system as in Formula One and you know how they drive out there. In the F1 game series they flag you for an accidental tap and make you give back positions. That's appropriate in those games but I'm not sure it would work in Forza. A caution flag would ruin any race momentum.
*They have sort of a skill system if you count the league tiers.

You're talking about a racing game where lapped cars are expected to complete the full race distance rather than finish the lap they were on when the winner finished, against a 40 second timer that makes it impossible anyway, all while navigating though the cars that have already finished which are now controlled by what appears to be blind drunk AI.
Expecting the designers who dreamed that up to care about in-race flags is asking a bit much.

Leagues are the skill based ranking system
Everyone has a value assigned to them however this data is hidden.
For leagues, it would be cool to see this hidden rank. It will help out those who get promoted to a higher league but can't muster a decent finish.
