CAR CUSTOMIZATIONS SHOWING IN THE STOREFRONT?? PLEASE TELL ME HOW?
SHARING DESIGN REVERTS CAR BACK TO STOCK
DESIGN PREVIEW QUESTION
SHARED LIVERIES SHOW UP STOCK ON THE MARKETPLACE.

Hi all.
Following the lack of any definitive answers to the above threads I decided to see if there was a guaranteed way of uploading our designs to the storefront with the specific body kits and parts we wanted to show. After a lot of trial and mostly error, I think I've sussed it and the next post will take you through the process step by step. (Apologies in advance to the more experienced of you if it seems like I'm stating the obvious at times but I wanted to create a guide that someone who's new to the editor could follow).

I'll update posts 3 & 4 dealing with both the shared and unshared design files in your 'MY DESIGNS' tab and the final one I've left free for troubleshooting so please leave me any feedback positive or negative.

MD. ๐Ÿบ

How to paint and save your design with visible customisation in the storefront.

Step 1) Choose your vehicle.
Enter your festival & select a car from your garage.

Step 2) Choose Bodykit/Install parts/Load specific tune.
Do this from the 'UPGRADES' & 'TUNING' tabs.

Step 3) Create your design.
From your garage go to 'DESIGNS AND PAINTS' tab then create your livery using the 'PAINT CAR' & 'APPLY DECALS' tabs.

Step 4) Saving your design.
This is a crucial part of the process. You will likely save & edit your design several times before you're happy with it. For this method it's important from the first time you want to save that you always press the B button and 'SAVE TO CURRENT CAR'. This will create a file in the 'MY DESIGNS' tab which the game now recognises as having the parts & design combined. The game has the default name 'Forza Livery' for these files.

Step 5) Rename your file.
In the 'MY DESIGNS' tab select your file & use the RENAME option to give it the name you want to show in your Storefront.
**note** You will have to back out of & re-enter the 'MY DESIGNS' tab for the change to show.

Step 6) Share your design.
In the 'MY DESIGNS' tab select your newly named file & use the SHARE option to add key words & a description before finally uploading your design to your Storefront.

Step 7) Check your design.
From your garage press the B button to leave your Festival. Press 'Start', scroll to the 'COMMUNITY' tab and click on 'MY STOREFRONT' then 'DESIGNS'.

Your design should now appear showing the correct name and with Bodykits/parts.

**note** The same design will always show as stock in your 'MY DESIGNS' tab.

Well that's it. I've tried this on cars bought in game, bought from the Auction House and on Horizon Edition cars with the same results so I'm going to stick my neck out and say this is guaranteed to workโ€ฆ but I'm sure you'll let me know if it doesn't, LoL! Good luck ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

How to edit your design and share the new version to the storefront.

**note** The game makes a definite distinction between your shared and unshared design files. Because of this I'd highly recommend you create a duplicate file and use that as your base to edit.

Step 1) Select your vehicle.
This method assumes you already have the design you want to edit on the car. Once selected from your garage, go to the 'DESIGNS AND PAINTS' tab and click on 'APPLY DECALS'.
You will need to perform at least one action here before you can create a new file. Quickest way is to cut the first layer (using X) and insert it again (using Y).

Step 2) Create duplicate file.
This is a crucial part of the process,
press the B button and choose the 'SAVE TO DESIGN CATALOGUE' option.
You will have the chance to rename the file before saving (the game has the default name 'Forza').

After the file is saved you will receive a prompt to shareโ€ฆ DONT!

Instead press the B button to cancel then go to the 'MY DESIGNS' tab and load the new file to your car.

You're now ready to edit, save and share the new version following the same steps as before.
Bodykit/parts first.
When saving, always press B and choose 'SAVE TO CURRENT CAR'.
Rename if needed and share.
You should now have the new version in your Storefront with the required customisation visibleโ€ฆ

How to create a duplicate file for editing using a shared file.

**note** The game makes a definite distinction between your shared and unshared design files. If you're new to the game, I'd highly recommend you only use this option if you have no alternative. Although relatively simple to perform, one mistake in the process carries the risk of overwriting your shared file and all related stats & payouts. This is irreversible!

Step 1) Select your vehicle.
This method assumes you have a previously downloaded design on the car.

Once selected from your garage, go to the 'DESIGNS AND PAINTS' tab and click on 'ERASE PAINT/DECALS'.

Your car will now appear as stock.

Step 2) Create duplicate file.
From the 'DESIGNS AND PAINTS' tab click 'MY DESIGNS' and load the shared Design file you want to edit.

Once loaded, you will need to perform at least one action in the 'APPLY DECALS' tab like before - after that the process of creating a duplicate file is the same as Step 2) from the previous post. The crucial part of the process comes at the point of saving. This is the point of no return, if you choose 'SAVE TO CURRENT CAR' the game will overwrite your shared file because that is what is on your current car.

So at the point of saving, you must remember to press the B button and choose the 'SAVE TO DESIGN CATALOGUE' option.

You will have the chance to rename the file before saving (the game has the default name 'Forza').

After the file is saved you will receive a prompt to shareโ€ฆ DONT!

Instead press the B button to cancel then go to the 'MY DESIGNS' tab and load the newly created duplicate file to your car.

You're now ready to edit, save and share the new version following the same steps as before.

Stats for shared designs can only be viewed in the 'MY DESIGNS' tab. Files appear in both 'MY DESIGNS' and 'MY STOREFRONT' from left (newest) to right (oldest). Therefore the most recent file you downloaded from your Storefront will appear in the furthest left slot.

Leave your festival, press START, from the COMMUNITY tab go to MY STOREFRONT then select DESIGNS.
Press the 'A' button to download the file you wish to unshare.
Press LB to enter your festival, from the GARAGE tab go to DESIGNS AND PAINTS then select MY DESIGNS.
Your most recently downloaded file will be the first one (furthest left).
Press the 'A' button to bring up the file options and select 'UNSHARE'.

MD,

I think you have it here. I've been paying close attention to how I save and share designs recently. I only have 7 designs shared right now, and 5 of the 7 are shared exactly as I have them built with all body mods, wheels, etc. showing in my Storefront. Of the 2 that don't show properly, one was saved on the weekend when T10 had some wonky stuff going on with their servers and I had to share it multiple times because my design file kept overwriting itself again and again with shared and unshared versions ... and the other one was a design that I imported from FH2 and never edited in the editor in FH3.

So, I've been using the same steps you use and other than one when the servers were ditzy and another imported from FH2 ... I've had good luck being able to share all my designs with all mods and parts showing.

BTW, as soon as I get in the game today, I'm downloading your Triple Star Racing livery for that 037 Stradale .... great work on that one ... ;)

I wonder if that was happening Thursday & Friday when I was trying to work this out? Had all sorts of weird files appearing in my storefront as well as My Designsโ€ฆ ๐Ÿค”
Glad you like the 3 star design, one of my better ones I think, LoL! Got a new version in there now.

Thanks for the tips. I have been struggling with figuring this part out so when I shared my designs they would show as stock and some of the paint and liveries would not aligned properly. I will try the steps you outlined tonight and finger crossed, it will work for me.

So, I tried the steps in Midnyte's guide and could not replicate the same effect. No matter what I did, my designs show on stock cars (all extra kits are gone). I tried fixing my existing designs first and when that failed, I tried the same steps on a brand new car with a brand new test design and observed the same outcome. One odd thing I noticed was that when I tried downloading a design from another player (the design contained wide body kit on it) after I'd downloaded it, it showed on a stock car...don't know if that is expected. At this point I'm scratching my head as to how to go around this annoying limitation.

I would definitely call this a 'bug' regardless if there is a workaround

Is this suppose to work when you buy a new car, apply body style and apply your existing design? I'm still showing stock rims on all my cars no matter what I do.. The only step I didn't do is Share my design because it's locked

And another question is, even if it shows stock to me it's there in game.. if I were to share my design or sell my car would they see it in game also?

I tested every variation I could think of - new, prize spins, AH - and it worked. The guide was specifically meant to help people who were trying to get their designs to feature the required bodykits/rims in their Storefront so if you haven't shared yours I'm guessing you're viewing it in the 'My Designs' tab. If that's the case then Yes, you're right, there is a bug or glitch which means the design always shows as stock when viewed here. (I did state that but to be fair it wasn't highlighted so I'll go back and edit the 2nd post).

As long as the file was saved following the right sequence the bodykit/rims will show when it's shared to the Storefront. If you sell a car in the AH buyers will automatically be able to see the upgrades regardless of the sequence they were applied. ๐Ÿ™‚

If the designs in your Storefront aren't showing with the bodykits you require there's a good chance you haven't followed the steps exactly. There's a subtle difference in the process depending on what you're trying to do (i.e. starting from scratch or editing an existing design) that will affect whether it will work or not. You're the first person to leave feedback to say it didn't work, I'm happy to run through it in a PM & if you've found something I've missed, I'll update the appropriate post. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, that's to be expected. Unlike the Auction House, you're not buying the actual car from the Storefront but rather the file that the creator uploaded. Think of the image you see as an advert only, any bodykit/rims etc. will have to be applied separately.

Thanks but still no way if I don't share it and just want to sell the car. Another thing that bugs me is when I click to view my design in my storefront it downloads.... I just wanted to check usage stats. So then I'm confused which one I downloaded.

So In the process of testing, I've managed to share several variations of my car and have 1 design in my library. Basically I'm not seeing a way to unshare those versions. Even after I delete all designs of that car from my library I can still see those shared in my storefront.

Ah yes, 'ghost liveries'. I had the same thing when I was testing things out Rebel.

It's caused by loading a file that's already shared to your Storefront onto a car then, after editing, overwriting it with the 'Save to current car' option. The moment you do that the game creates a new file in your library in the same slot as the original but leaves the original file safe in your Storefront. If you then share the new file you will have 2 files in the Storefront but only one in the library (see below).

To retrieve the 'ghost' file simply go to your Storefront and download it by pressing the A button. The file will now appear in your library where you can check stats.
