FH3 FAQ: Rivals and Leaderboards

Will Speed Trap leaderboards be classified by car class and type?
In this E3 video interview Ralph Fulton says no, but describes the 3-star system for speed traps, speed zones, danger signs, and drift zones. For each star you earn new fans. Beyond 3 stars you start to earn Open World Points.

/!\ Why is my lap marked dirty if I did nothing wrong?
Reasons for a lap being marked with the /!\ dirty lap symbol include: contact with a car or wall, heavy bottoming out (ride height too low/suspension too soft), driving outside the track boundary, drafting (either ahead or behind a close car), driving the wrong way on a track, using Rewind, or using Mods that affect car performance. Triggering a dirty indicator in the final sector of a lap will also cause the next lap to be dirty (due to the possibility of gaining an advantage entering that lap); rewind back beyond where the last split time pops up in order to keep the next lap clean. You may find it difficult to get a clean lap with other cars on the track; to improve your leaderboard rank, use Rivals to race alone on the track. See discussion thread.

FH3 FAQ: Clubs

How many players can be in a club?
1000^ See discussion thread.

Can existing clubs in FH2 be imported to FH3?
No, they have to be recreated in FH3.^

Can club members share garage cars or collaborate on designs/tuning setups?
The only place in the game where clubs can be shared (other than selling cars to each other in the Auction House) is during online. Co-Op sessions.

At E3 2016, Xbox announced new upcoming Club features that are separate from the in-game club system, but may also be of interest to FH3 players: http://news.xbox.com/2016/06/13/xbox-arena-clubs-lfg-e3/

Rollout to Preview members began the week of September 6:

Clubs on Xbox Live
Clubs are gamer-created and managed groups that can help you meet people and grow communities of gamers who love the same things you do. Anyone can join or create a Club and you’ll probably see a Club for just about everything. For example, I created a Club for all my college buddies so we can keep in touch and coordinate competitive Halo gaming nights.

As a Club member, you’ll be able to set up parties, play games, share content, and easily communicate using voice and text chat with the Club across Xbox One and the Xbox app. You can search for Clubs (or create your own) in the Community tab on Xbox One and the Clubs section on other devices, and Clubs associated with a game will be accessible in the title’s Game Hub. As a Club admin, you’ll have the tools to ensure that everyone is having a great time and help create a lively and inclusive environment. Reserve your Club name today as no two can be the same!

Looking for Group (LFG) on Xbox Live
LFG helps you quickly find other players that you want to game with. It’s like posting a gaming “want-ad” to the Xbox community. Need to do daily quests or on the hunt for certain achievements? We have you covered – just create a LFG post. You’ll be able to add certain requirements to make sure that you’re finding the right gamers. You can specify the game, the game mode, how many people you need, rules like no trash talking or casual friendly, and any other in-game requirements like level, gear or character type.

A quick primer on how LFG works: gamers can browse open LFGs and request to join the ones that they’re interested in. The LFG host chooses from the list of gamers who have expressed interest and, once the group is full or the host is ready, the host can quickly get those people into party chat and start playing. Quick, easy, and simple. Whether you’re playing a FPS on Xbox One or your favorite PC title, you can quickly find other gamers to play with on Xbox Live. As with Clubs, Preview members will start seeing LFG on Xbox One today and on the Xbox app in the coming weeks.

FH3 FAQ: Co-Op Multiplayer

"Co-op allows up to four players to play through the campaign together. The leader selects the events, and the other players join them. All races become Team Races by default, the players versus the Drivatars. All events that are available in Horizon Solo are available in Co-op."^

In this E3 video interview Ralph Fulton describes Campaign Co-Op mode: team members can share cars.

Is there a split screen (local multiplayer) mode in FH3?
"Forza Horizon 3 will not have split screen local multiplayer."^ See also LAN discussion thread.

FH3 FAQ: Online Adventure

What is Online Adventure mode?
"In Online Adventure you will compete against other players in a series of races. Earn XP by racing fast, clean and with style. After all the races are completed, the player with the highest XP total wins. You can matchmake into Racing only (Collisions On or Off) or Games only through the Custom Adventure option, or choose Online Adventure, which is Racing and Games combined!"^

Is there a Spectate feature for players to watch instead of race?
Unknown, see discussion thread.

How are races scored?
"The person who crosses the finish line first is always the winner in Horizon MP races. There is also a separate XP championship running alongside races where those who don't cross the line in the top can still accomplish something."^

FH3 FAQ: Car Meets

"Car Meets take place at the Airstrip where you can check out other players’ cars. You can see their designs and tunes, and you can download them if you like them. You can also take part in a showdown, a drag race to the end of the airstrip. You can enter in any car you like, and the lower the PI of your car, the more of a head start you’ll receive!"^

Can I prevent other players from downloading my design or tuning setup?

FH3 FAQ: Playground Games

"Playground Games are your go-to online game mode when you don’t feel like racing! Compete in King, Infection or Flag Rush against other players online. They can all be played in the Online Adventure or Online Freeroam online game modes."^

"In King, one player starts as the King. If you smash into them, you become the King. The amount of time each player spends as King is tracked, and the player who spends the most time as the King at the end of the round wins. Work together to track down and corner the King!"^

"In Infection, one player starts as Infected. If that player collides with any other player, they will also be infected! Score points by surviving for as long as possible without being infected, and infecting other players. The player with the most points at the end of the round wins."^

Flag Rush
"At the start of a Flag Rush game, flags will spawn around the map. Race over to one to pick it up. Drop it off at the designated capture zone to score points! Be careful though, if any other player crashes into you while you’re carrying a flag, they’ll steal it off of you!"^ See discussion thread.

Drag racing
Drag racing can be found at the airport Car Meets in online modes. Information about drag racing in career events is unknown.

FH3 FAQ: Photos and Screenshots

How do I use the Photo Mode settings for better photos?
See the Forzatography forum for tips from other community members and be sure to keep an eye on the official contest winners in the Gallery (website and Forza Hub) and Week in Review to see examples of good composition and effects.

Can I position the car or delete the driver in Photo Mode?
These aren't options in Photo Mode - time and car position is frozen. You may be able to capture a screenshot in Drone Mode, which allows time, weather, and traffic to continue.

"Storefront is the place where players can show off their latest creations – including liveries, tuning setups, photos, and custom vinyl creations. You can easily follow someone whose Storefront creations you like, and you’ll be informed each time they create something new. Best of all, Auction House and Storefront features will work seamlessly across both Xbox One and Windows 10."^
Is there a limit to the number of photos I can save and share?

How can I download my in-game photos?
  • Method 1: Using a computer browser, find your saved photos in the GALLERY dropdown under the COMMUNITY menu on the website and save them to your computer; this is also available in the Forza Hub app on PC.
  • Method 2: Take an Xbox One Screenshot (below) while in Photo Mode with UI hidden or while viewing a photo in the in-game Forza Gallery menu (not available while streaming).
  • Method 3: Stream your game to Windows 10 using the Xbox app and take a screenshot from your device.

Xbox One Screenshot
See the Xbox Support topic on capturing and sharing screenshots. Double-tap the Xbox One controller power button and press Y to save the image or say "Xbox, take a screenshot." Use the Upload app to manage saved screenshots from My Captures, where you can set the image as your console background or share it to your activity feed, in a message, to Twitter, or to your OneDrive. See the March 2015 announcement for a quick video tutorial. Screenshot is not available while streaming.

Xbox App streaming video screenshot
When streaming to your Windows 10 Xbox App you can use the keyboard combination CTRL + Print Screen to capture the current display from your monitor and then use an image editor to paste and trim the capture.

How do I post photos in the forums?
Start by saving your photo to a hosting site such as Flickr or Imgur. Click the Post Reply button in a forum thread and use the Insert Image icon or use bracketed url= and /url coding and enter the url for the image itself (.jpg or .png, not a webpage). The site will automatically resize large pictures to 800px wide. See the How to upload a photo thread for detailed instructions.

Official photos and wallpapers
You can find official wallpapers at Xbox.com and the images that accompany official Forza articles can be found at http://news.xbox.com/media. See discussion thread.

FH3 FAQ: Replays and Video Clips

How many camera angles are there? See discussion thread.
Is there a limit to the number of replays I can save?
How do I download a replay and share it online?

Drone Mode
In this E3 video interview Ralph Fulton describes the new Drone Mode: In Solo and Multiplayer you can control a drone that flies around and films at real speed for both photos and videos. Demo gameplay from gamescom shows how the drone works.^ "There is no distance limit on drone cam."^ See discussion thread.

Xbox recorded clips
To save game clips to be uploaded to the internet, say "Xbox, Record That" (or double-tap the Xbox button on your controller and press X) to capture the past 30 seconds of gameplay, or snap the Game DVR app to record up to 5 minute segments. Use the Upload Studio app to edit and share videos up to 30 minutes long. Saved clips can be found on the dashboard in your Profile and in the Upload app, where you can choose to save them to OneDrive (and ultimately other hosting services such as YouTube). These recordings are 720p, 30fps. See the Xbox Support page on sharing clips. You can also find your clips at xboxclips.com and xboxdvr.com (both unaffiliated with Microsoft).

Additional info for the Cars list topic:

With our Forza Garage series wrapping up, I know that a lot of folks in the community have been wondering about a conspicuous manufacturer absence from the game: Volkswagen. With Forza Horizon 3, we’re bringing fans more than 350 cars to the game at launch, including manufacturers who have never appeared in a Forza game before. Our team works hard to license hundreds of brands for every Forza game; from small independent brands to major international automotive companies. Unfortunately, we can’t always align our fans’ desires with the interests of every licensor, as is the case with Volkswagen in Forza Horizon 3. As a result, we’re unable to include VW in the game.

Naturally, there are tons of VW fans here at Turn 10 and Playground Games and we’re as disappointed to share this update as our fans are to hear it. We hope to be able to restore VW to Forza games in the future.[/quote]
