In that podcast at the 43:35 mark, Dan says there might be a three wheel here and there and then says were not announcing the full car list yet. A few seconds later he says we wanted to get the game to a place where the physics could support shorter wheelbase things like Polaris as well as three wheels so there will be more about that coming up.

I'm thinking we may be getting the Slingshot -

and maybe some others as well.

Could be a typo here Max. On the Announcement News page Brian says the map is twice the size of the FH2 map.

The Seven Aussiest Things In Forza Horizon 3
CHRIS JAGER June 14, 2016

During this year’s E3 conference, Microsoft unveiled Forza Horizon III which will be set entirely Down Under. It’s being billed as the largest, most diverse and beautiful open world the Forza team has ever built. Well, duh! It’s bloody Australia, innit! But just how Aussie is this game going to be in reality? We asked the art director Benjamin Penrose to spill the beans. As it turns out, Fazza 3 is pretty flamin’ Aussie…

- Every state is featured
- The sky is Aussie
- It's got a flamin' 1951 Holden Ute
- It's (probably) got Barnesy and the Oils
- All of the voice actors are Aussies
- It's got 'roos and crocs
- You can do sick doughies

It's an important year for the annualization of Forza
2016-06-20 18:00:00· 2 minute read · Brett Makedonski@Donski3

For as much flak as the practice of annual installments in popular video game franchises catches, Microsoft feels like it's doing it the right way with Forza. Quietly, Microsoft has released a new Forza title every year for the past five years; the release of Forza Horizon 3 this year will make it six in six.

The reason the Forza release pattern has seemed restrained (even though it isn't) is because Microsoft is in a committed cycle of never following one game with another that's just like it. After a realistic and simulation-heavy Forza Motorsport title releases, the next year will see an arcade-like and lighthearted Forza Horizon game. Those are two very different experiences for two different audiences; only the most hardcore of racing fans care deeply about both of those.

It's a formula that has apparently worked thus far, but 2016 feels like something of a question mark. Forza Horizon 2 was great. Will Forza Horizon 3 iterate enough to distinguish itself, or will it just seem like a lot more Forza Horizon 2?

Forza Horizon 3 could feature the most beautiful skies in gaming ever – Interview

“We had to go to Australia with this enormous camera rig that we built ourselves, and then we had people sit in the outback all summer where everything is trying to kill you,” he said. “We couldn’t just leave this thing – it had to be attended to. We had to change the lenses and clean them every 20 minutes.”

When asked if he, the creative director, was part of the effort, he laughed. “Well I didn’t do it. I’m not crazy,” he said.

“One thing we had to do is, in Australia, there are lots of spiders, right?” he asked us, reminding me of one of the 47 reasons I refuse to go to Australia. “In this camera rig, there are lots of crevices – we had to do a spider check, a spider pass, every time we went to change lenses.”

Ugh, no thanks.

Once all the spiders have been cleaned out, the skies captured, and the bodies of Playground Games have been disposed of (disclaimer: no one actually died during the filming process, probably), the team took that footage back to the studio. 12K, HDR footage is way more than any game system can handle.

Just how tough is it to get a car scanned into Forza?
by Tim Stevens @Tim_Stevens by Andrew Krok @andrewkrok
July 19, 2016 8:00 AM PDT

Turn 10 Studios has quite the unveiling on its hands. Forza Horizon 3 brings the open-world racing game to the great Australian Outback, and there's plenty of both on- and off-road antics for players to get into. But while you might only see the polished, final version of the game, there's so much that goes into it.

Whether it's chasing down cars on 20-hour drives across the Australian continent, or pulling the "we don't talk about future product" line when it comes to a VR-enabled Forza game, Turn 10 has been very busy preparing for its latest debut. Tim Stevens, Roadshow's editor-in-chief, asks Brian Ekberg, Turn 10's community manager, all about it.

Q&A in the interview:
RS: The Australian auto market is very different from the American and European markets that have featured in previous games. What are some of the most distinctive aspects of Aussie motoring sets these cars apart?
Are there more Ford or Holden fans on the development team?
With the addition of the Nomad and Trophy Truck, it seems like Horizon 3 is going to be as much about off-road as on-road. What's the mix?
Any plans for a VR-capable Forza?
Which car was the hardest to get access to for scanning?
How long does it take to scan each car?
Is the process different for certain types of cars?
Just how ridiculous is the Lamborghini Centenario in person? How much time did you get to spend with it?

Gamescom Interviews: Forzathon

Gamescom 2016: Forza Horizon 3 Introducing New Weekly Challenge Feature, Forzathon
17 Aug 2016
By Joe Skrebels
Speaking to IGN at Gamescom today, Playground Games creative director Ralph Fulton explained that the game will include a calendar of challenges at least a month in advance. Currently, rewards include a comedy horn pack and a Nissan Silvia S14 unlock.
Forzathon competitions can be single-day or multi-day, and many of the rewards offered will be available only through completion of the challenge (although Fulton was keen to stress that popular rewards would be re-used in multiple events).

"[The challenges] might be really simple," explained Fulton, "or they might be really fiendish."

Forza Horizon 3 introduces weekly competitions in October
By Megan Farokhmanesh on Aug 17, 2016 at 8:00a
Of note is the event Oct. 14, when players can win a Nissan Silvia S14, and an unannounced event Oct. 28-30. News on that event is still incoming, though Fulton said players will be able to win and drive a vehicle that "has never been drivable in Forza before, which you will not believe."

"It’s an understatement to say that working with our awesome partners at Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios has been a blast! There are unsung heroes on both ends of the process who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the driving experience provided by the Warthog in Forza Horizon 3 is just as rewarding for Halo players as it is for Forza drivers.
We sat down with one such hero from the talented team at Playground Games, Chris Phillips, to talk to him about the process of realizing the Warthog in their new title."
GRIM: Hey Chris! To start out, from the perspective of a modern-day motorsports-focused franchise, what excites you about being able to include a vehicle like the Warthog in Forza Horizon 3?
GRIM: So with the Warthog being “born” from video games, how does creating a vehicle from another “purely digital” source compare to let’s say taking a “real world” car like a Viper or Zonda and prepping it for inclusion within a Forza game?
GRIM: I can imagine! Can you talk a little bit about the partnership process between the Forza and Halo teams? How was the experience working alongside another game franchise on a project like this instead of simply working with another auto manufacturer?
GRIM: What would you say is your own personal favorite aspect about driving the Warthog in Forza Horizon 3?
GRIM: Makes sense the all that experience traversing exotic alien worlds would prepare the Warthog well for dealing with Australia. If you had to compare the Warthog to other vehicles in the game, which ones feel most similar to the iconic UNSC all-terrain monster?
GRIM: Hmm, I wonder if you could put a turret on that… Anyway, to close, what is it about Forza Horizon 3 that you feel most perfectly suits the Warthog driving experience?
[interviews with 343 staff on car culture]
"If you want to learn even more about the new M12S Warthog CST, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on ForzaMotorsport.net tomorrow for a very special edition of their awesome Heavy Metal Affliction series. In it, they’ll detail the nature of bringing your favorite Puma-tired off-road Chief-hauler to the Australian outback in Forza Horizon 3. Also, keep an eye out for the upcoming installment of This Week On Xbox, which will feature a special segment that sees Major Nelson joined by Dan Greenawalt, Kiki Wolfkill, and a larger than life special guest – don't miss it. And don’t forget to be on the lookout for Xbox Live messages containing your code to redeem for your very own Warthog in the upcoming driving game."

Earlier this week we had the privilege of chatting to Ben Penrose, who is the Art Director for Forza Horizon 3. He shared some information about why Australia was chosen for the location of Forza Horizon 3, how they captured the variety of climates and locations as well as how sound is a bit part of the game.

Can you tell us about how you came to the decision to bring the Forza Horizon franchise to Australia?
There are so many iconic locations that Australia has, possible more than what Horizons 3 manages to cover. How did you manage to narrow it down to the ones you ended up picking?
Outside of the locations and some authentic Australia vehicles, what else is representative of Australian culture?
The sound design in Forza is quite famous for it’s high level of authenticity, what went into creating the sounds for this game?
Horizon’s weather system looks like the most realistic one yet, can you tell us about the process that went into capturing the different atmosphere’s and climates?
Australia’s east coast has a somewhat notorious reputation for it’s schizophrenic weather system, did you capture that climate?
What are your plans for Horizons 3 post release in terms of DLC?
Final question, what would your next hypothetical Horizons game be set in?

Forza Horizon 3 for real: super cars, muscle cars and the 12 Apostles
by David Zalstein

Forza Horizon 3 is one of the most anticipated video games to be released this year, and – thanks to Xbox – CarAdvice got a sneak preview of the game and some one-on-one time with one of the key people behind it, all while taking in the gorgeous views and divine roads of Victoria’s surf coast in a selection of performance-car perfection.

Due to be released on September 27 for both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, Forza Horizon 3 is the third instalment from UK-based game developers Playground Games and is set to feature over 350 cars, which you can customise and personalise to your style.

The big news for local fans, though, is that this time the game’s open-world is based on and inspired by our own backyard – Australia.

Given this, we tagged along to join the ultimate real life Forza Horizon 3 cruise: Torquay to Port Campbell – via the world famous 12 Apostles – in an Audi R8, Ferrari 458, Ferrari California, Ford Falcon XR8 Sprint, HSV Maloo R8 LSA, Jaguar F-Type, Lamborghini Aventador, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lamborghini Huracan, Mercedes-AMG C63 S, and Nissan GT-R.

Enjoying his first-ever trip out to Australia, we thought it was fitting to grab a chat with Playground Games art director Ben Penrose while he was behind the wheel of the most quintessentially ‘Aussie’ car: the ute.

93 photos and Q&A about the game, plus:
CA: What elements of the game and game development in general will continue to evolve and get better? How far off the limits are we?
CA: How ‘real’ do you think driving simulators are now, and how ‘real’ do you think they will be in the future?
CA: And finally, Ben, if you have one, what’s your ultimate dream car?

Drive to the Music You Love in Forza Horizon 3 with Groove
by Brian Ekberg, Community Manager at Turn 10 Studios Posted on September 9, 2016 at 8:00 am

The Forza Horizon 3 original soundtrack features a broader musical selection than any Horizon game before with nearly 150 songs across eight, in-game radio stations. On top of returning favorites like Horizon Pulse and Horizon Bass Arena, several new stations add new and classic hits from genres across hip hop, indie rock, punk/metal, and of course, classical music.

There’s even more to the Forza Horizon 3 music experience than a sweet soundtrack. Now, for the first time ever, you can rock music you choose as you drive the Horizon with a Groove Music Pass on Xbox One or PC.

New to Groove? Test drive millions of songs with zero obligations. Our 14-day, no-credit-card trial gives you nonstop music, plus playlists, artist radio, and more – all for the low cost of free. With Forza Horizon 3 and Groove, it’s all about playing what you love – one press of the button and you’re on the way.

Check out the Forza Horizon 3 music stations and full track list below.

Some restrictions may apply, visit https://www.microsoft.com/groove to learn more.

"With Forza Horizon 3 only a matter of weeks away, and the soundtrack announcement fresh in our minds, we had a chance to chat to Playground Games’ Creative Director Ralph Fulton via email about what goes into curating a soundtrack of this size and scope."
The Iris: What goes into crafting a track list for a game like Forza Horizon 3? Is there a set of rules for picking songs (like a good mixtape for instance) or is it more a matter of whether or not it feels like a good fit?
This is a track list that spans multiple genres and decades of music. Was there a person or team in charge or curation?
Given its setting, it makes sense that Forza Horizon 3 would sport a strong set of tracks from Australian artists. Can you tell us a little about the local artists you’ve chosen for the soundtrack and why?
How do music labels like Future Classic come to be involved in Forza Horizon 3?
At what stage of development does soundtrack curation begin? Do you start throwing together a dream list right away or does it begin further down the line?
Obviously, the game will have its own original music too. Can you tell us a little about that and who composed it?
Bearing in mind that the soundtrack for Forza Horizon 3 was chosen to carry a particular overall vibe, do you find that the new soundtrack pairs well with certain specific in-game locations the same way?
What are your three personal favourite tracks from the soundtrack?
Alright, fast hypothetical to finish up: The Xbox One now let’s you create your own playlists. You’re putting together your own personal, custom playlist for Forza Horizon 3. What’s on it?
