Thanks for the tuning guide! I've been testing it out on F1 and Indycars, and it works pretty well on the 1967 F1 cars so far (words can't describe how happy that makes me). I have a tune for the Lotus 77 but I haven't test driven it yet. The Honda Indycar may have a little too much downforce (for Watkins Glen full) but you can push that thing like nothing else. The only problem I've run into so far is the Lotus E23, it's a little too twitchy so I think I need to fine tune it a bit. That said I think it's a fantastic guide for explaining everything properly.

BTW Lotus 77, excellent handling, but needs a bit longer gears for the back stretch at Watkins Glen

Making an A and B class Cosworth using this guide. Have the base numbers set using your calculations. I will put up some numbers on my first tests without adjusting anything. Then add what assists I'm using and the changes I decided to make and if they work. That ought to help out some.

1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth

I race ALMS, NASCAR, IMSA, and most other full blown racecars. I do some daily tuners as well. Very little drifting.

1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth

Tune:

  • Tires: 28.5/28.5
  • Gears: 2.53 Final
    3.89/2.43/1.77/1.39/1.15/0.97
  • Align: -2.2/-1.5
    Toe/Caster 0/0/6.0
  • ARB: 21.6/18.3
  • Springs: 622.4/531.6
    Ride 4.4/6.0
  • Damping: 6.2/5.3
    Bump 4.9/3.6
  • Aero n/a
  • Brakes: 48%/90%
  • Diff: 29%/0%
    59%/18%
    69% Split

the gears were a bit too long (got them from the U2SC tuner). I changed the final gear to 3.35. I also changed the front ARB down to 18.6. It helped me actually hit 5th/6th gear, and helped some with the understeer. Needs a little more understeer removed, but drives fine. I tested this at the Rio National circuit. My initial setup netted me a 1:45.236 after 3-4 laps. I brought it down to a .076 with that minor change. I ran it with TCS and ABS on, SIM damage on, and Stability off.

To me... this is the best guide that I've read in regards to Forza tuning & builds! Great explanations on what does what & how! This thread has been added to my favorites & I will use it as a reference hence forth!

I'm already pretty good at tuning & building but still got things to learn... thanks for this amazing guide... GREAT JOB!!!

I've tuned a lot of cars in Forza Horizon 2. I use a spreadsheet that's constantly evolving. I noticed the settings I used for some of my best tunes are similar to the results of your tuning guide. I arrived at these settings through a lot of trial and error or just dumb luck. This guide is saving me a lot of time because it works so well. Now I can use that extra time to fine tune the camber and gears and differential and make the car even better. Thank you for posting this.
