ICONIC RACERS

Hi everybody,

For this week's FM5 update, I focused on two iconic racing vehicles. These two cars could not be more different from each other, and yet they are both symbols of their respective divisions. First up, the 2014 Renault Spark SRT_01E, which is one of the stars in the recently-created Formula E racing series. I will admit, the car surprised me during my time with it. I guess I had the notion that because it was missing a petrol-fueled motor it would be slow and not overly satisfying to drive. I confess that I was wrong - it's a great machine that will lead the way for other Formula E racers. The second vehicle is the 1997 Honda Civic Type R, one of the most iconic hot hatchbacks ever. I was impressed by the car's balance and grip, and the way it tackled the corners. I was not impressed with the low-rev performance, as if I got a launch wrong and sat in the bottom half of the rev counter it seemed to take ages to climb back up again. Anyways, here's my work of the two iconic racers, as well as a random shot I took of a Kia. Enjoy!

That's it for me this week. If you liked the pictures, have some feedback or want to start a discussion feel free to let me know in the comments. All feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,
Ace

Mama mia! The livery on the Spark is so rong! On my part I absolutely hated that car. It literally failed to conduct feeling to my brain . Of course if I'd be sitting in it it, it at least would of generated G. Anyways... I don't think we can call it iconic yet.

About the Civic. This, you are absolutely right, it is an iconic hatch, not that I'm really fan of but I really like shot 3.

Iconic might not be the right word for it, but the Renault is definitely a symbol of the Formula E racing series. I guess it's because the Spark is one of the first Formula E racers, and is the first vehicle of its kind in a Forza game. As for the livery - it was a top-rated user design that I picked because it looked so professional.

SACRE-BLEU

Hi everybody,

This week's update features the 2010 Renault Megane RS 250. I picked it for the modern hot-hatch racing series in career mode and found it to be quite a good vehicle. I know that everyone has differing opinions on the matter, but I found the Megane to be one of the most competitive vehicles in its class. It has good grip, excellent power and some attractive lines. It's quite a cute car - but I did notice a few drawbacks with it. The first thing is that I had to adjust how I normally race manual with clutch. I noticed that whenever I changed gear it sounded like I was letting out the clutch too early, so I had to adapt and hold the clutch in all the way until the on-screen animation was complete. I also seemed to have a difficult time finding the right settings to take photos, but that was probably more of a me problem than a car fault. Here's my work with the Megane:

As I wrap this up, I'd just like to apologize to anybody who may possibly be offended by the title of this set. I don't think it will offend anyone, but just in case it does, I apologize. It was the best snappy title I could come up with at the time of this post. I'll change it if people want me to.

Anyways, that's it for me this week. As always, feel free to leave a comment, question or feedback of some form or another. I try to respond to each piece of feedback I get.

Cheers,
Ace

BRITISH BELTER

Hi everybody,

This week's update features the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S. I bought it a few hours ago for a championship racing series in career mode, and it hasn't actually done a race in the series yet. I've been too distracted by photomode, absolutely pouring over the details. Normally, this is the part of my post where I give you my thoughts on the car after the time I've spent racing and photographing it, but I spent all the time with the car taking photos in Forzavista. I had a brief run with it on Catalunya, where I successfully managed to get inside the car for the first time using a well-known glitch, and I can say that the car is slide-happy. However, I did notice quite a bit of understeer in the tight corners, but that's the only complaint I have of the Jag so far. Here's my work with the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S this week:

@Nights Viper: Thank you for the comment. I've entered the 2nd Spark photo in Morc 57's 100% Aperture photocomp in the FH2 Media Centre. I'm looking forward to seeing who wins - look's like it'll be a challenging contest to judge.

That's it for me this week. As always, please feel free to leave any feedback and I'll respond to it in my next set. Ta for now!

Cheers guys - not sure if I'll have a set for here for tomorrow. I just haven't been feeling FM5 over the last few days, and today doesn't seem like anything will change. I'll keep you posted but don't be surprised if there's nothing here for tomorrow night.

Cheers,
Ace

THE RETURNED - ASTON MARTIN INDULGENCE

Hi everybody,

I'm back! To make a long story short, there were two reasons why I haven't posted in a bit. The first is that I was busy - really busy. It's open-house time for colleges, and I'm now in the process of choosing which college I want to attend. I applied to three colleges, and was accepted into all three, so I've spent the last month or so attending open-houses and trying to narrow down the field. Because education isn't cheap, I've also been working a lot more than before, so my time on Xbox has been significantly downsized. The second reason, and more appropriate response, is that I fell out of love with Forza. I let the pressure of running two galleries on a twice-a-week schedule get to me, and Forzatography became a bit of a drag for me.

Anyways, I'm back. I don't have too much to say this time around, so I'll let my work do the talking. Shot #7 was a winner for Week AZ in the FM5 WPC.

That's it for me this week. Not sure about future updates - they may become more intermittent than before.

Cheers,
Ace

THE MIDDLE

Hi everyone,

I've returned to FM5 after a month-long hiatus. I wasn't really planning on going back, but I've been looking for a car recently (my first one ever) and I stumbled across an ad for a 2003 Nissan 350Z. I immediately jumped on FH2, only to find out it wasn't in the game. I switched to FM5 and to my delight it was there. So, I decided I'd have a quick play around in (hopefully) my future vehicle, and see how it was like. These are the results:

I do have to admit, I'm struggling with FM5 shots. I can't seem to consistantley get settings I'm happy with. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Cheers,
Ace

I like the play with the shadows in this one:

I'm sorry, that I can't give you any advices regarding FM5 forzatography as I never took photos in a Motorsport title yet.
Perhaps Morc57 will pop in here :)

Nice! As for tips, I'm in the same boat with you. The lighting and settings always feel "off" for some reason..

LOL

In FM5, I'd say it's all about finding the right spots. In FH2, all the spots are good or almost and the changing light makes it unique every time.

In FM5 though, all tracks have their own lighting. For my part I prefer using low exposure with medium to high contrast and brightness. I will use medium exposure when shooting from shadows. I also prefer shooting contre-jour ... against the light.

I really liked the Aston set by the way.

Nice work with the Nissan set! FM5 is tricky getting the settings right, what Morc said pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Yeah I agree, FM5 lighting is all over the place when it comes to taking photos. Nice shots though!

Some ridiculous detail and awesome shots in this thread. Holy wow, this is some intense Forzatography. Keep up the great work!
