Quote:
On September 15, 2021, Forza Motorsport 7 will be delisted. This means that the game and its DLC will no longer be available to purchase in the Microsoft Store or available with Xbox Game Pass.

However, after September 15, players who already own Forza Motorsport 7 will still be able to download and play the game and its associated content as normal. In addition, features like multiplayer and online services will still be accessible for those who own the game.

For any Xbox Game Pass players who previously purchased DLC for the game, but not the game itself, we have good news! You will receive a token for the game through the Xbox Message Center so that you can continue playing Forza Motorsport 7. Token distribution will be through August 2. However, if after that date you have not received your token, please contact Xbox Support here. (Unused tokens will expire on September 15, 2023.)

If you know someone who has yet to play Forza Motorsport 7, we are offering a discount on the game in the Microsoft Store through September 15.

For anyone keeping an eye on our Rivals events with our esports partners, after September 15 we will continue to provide content to support our partners’ esports competitions with new Rivals events coming soon, so there’s still be plenty of racing action to be had.

For more info on FM7 and Game Pass, check out the article on our support site.

Reminder - we're in the final hours before FM7 is removed from both the Xbox/Microsoft Store and Xbox Game Pass, so if you are planning to own the game or DLC, this is your last chance!

If you already own the game and DLC, you're all set - you'll be able to continue playing and even redownload the content you own as seen on your Microsoft billing page. New Rivals will be added in the months ahead!

Damit i bought a dlc car ON the 15th, didn't realize it had to be before. I didn't come hear untill today to read the fine print on getting a token. I wish i had the money for the ultimate, or atleast known about the delisting for longer than 2 weeks. Im just sad we're getting 2 horizons in a row. I like horizon and all, and i know im going to like 5. Its just that its been to long between main line forza games and im really in the mood for a sim right now.

First off, I'm not a gamer-boy who sits home with a wheel/pedal setup so he can steer with one hand and play with the other joystick with other for 24/7. I'm a regular Joe who actually does drive real, honest to god classic cars, the kind that if you change tire pressures it does affect the handling. Like Dirt 5 or Wreckfest, it's a good racing game that can be played with a pad fairly decently. And it was fun to play.. did it have it's faults? Yes, like adding upgrades to a car only to have it perform worse. And no, I don't have a PSx and a switch and a Steamdeck

Look, I can get removing support for Motorsports 7, the game is 4yrs old after all and there is a EOL to all software products. Just as there is a cut off date to creation of new software, any bugs found after that date will get fixed in a patch or service pack. That's why rule of thumb in IT server world is never move to the next Microsoft release until the first service pack is released. (cough cough Cyberpunk 2077)

But to remove it from Game Pass and keep people from playing is just plain wrong. Oh wait, sorry, if I was stupid enough to buy a DLC I could get a code to continue playing. And to remove it from the store completely is even stupider. Yes, I know Amazon sells physical copies still but why should I give Microsoft money for a game that they no longer support? And I know there are used copies available. Sorry, I made that mistake with Horizon 1-3. Once Forza pulls a game from support, it becomes crippled. You only get content built into the disk, no add on cars, no multi-player interaction, nothing.

But hey, what does MS care? I will never understand their logic of keeping games from the 1990's in the store, but pull down more recent games? Don't the realize that hey, maybe cause I tried the new version coming out next year I might want to give an older version a shot just for the fun of it? Hopefully the new version will have the locals digging trenches in the road so when some gamerboy comes blasting down in his tuned McLaren it sends him flying like they do in the real Baja races...

Hi BEARDOGE67,

Forza games have to go unlisted after several years because the third party licenses that we use to feature real-world cars, tracks and other elements begin to expire. Compliance with those licenses is a legal requirement.

Thank you for the reply. I understand about expired licenses, it's the reason when MTV started re-airing Beavis and Butthead a few years back they only had a limited number of episodes due to agreements to air songs had expired.

It sounds like the licensing model used for the cars and tracks is similar to other software licensing models. It's good only for a certain period of time, and after that, either the product ceases to work or you pay to renew. Failing to renew subjects an organization to civil/criminal penalties by continuing to use it. So this technically means anyone using any Forza product who's track/vehicle license has expired is violating a legal licensing agreement, and Forza and Microsoft have done nothing to stop it. The only thing they've done is made them unavailable in the store, and prevented GamePass subscribers from playing it. They haven't removed physical copies or prevented other retailers from selling both physical and digital copies of 7 and earlier versions. So I think the license issue is not a valid explanation as to why one can't buy it from the Store or as a GamePass subscriber continue to play it. And if the licensing issue is truly the reason, then anyone who has purchased a digital copy from the Store should not be able to re-download it if they removed it or bought a new console, and technically Microsoft should prevent the earlier purchased games from being played. Microsoft does it every day with server, desktop and other software products, so there's no reason they can't do same here.
