Just upgraded to Series X and updated Forza Horizon 4 to the S/X update. I use a racing chair with a Thrustmaster TMX, pedals and shifter for the last 3 years including since launch of Horizon 4. With the Series X and turning motion of the wheel or braking causes a dramatic rough vibration/clacking of the wheel. This only occurs in game. When in menus the wheel turns smoothly and exhibits normal feedback as expected. I checked the advanced settings and they match those from my old One X. Any ideas? I’m at a loss. Thanks.

I hooked it back up to my X1X and it works fine. Hook it up to the series X and it’s like there are rocks in the wheel, it’s violent clicking with any turns or braking. I’ve turned off vibration and lower feedback, nothing. In menus it is smooth as silk. Wondering if the S/X update or how the series X communicates with the wheel is bugged...

Be careful with your wheel, I remember reading about some broken related to unexpected rude vibrations. Adding that FH4 is kind of king of messing something working ...
Don't forget to log a ticket, I guess they should be a little more attentive to Series X related ones.

It's worth being aware that the Series S/X version is actually a separate piece of software developed by a different company, Panic Button, though obviously they derived it from the original version. But they've added, for example, the ability to skip the intros in the Series X version for a faster load time, when you can't skip them in the other versions, so the code has diverged. Not that that helps to know where the problem is, but it's worth being aware of for differences in general.

Thanks I did go ahead and fill out a ticket and hopefully I figure something out but the summary is this... current version of FH4 on a Series X and the Thrustmaster TMX is unusable but if you plug it into the current version of FH4 on a One X the TMX works fine. Also when the Thrustmaster is plugged into the Series X it feels fine to turn UNLESS driving. Today I’ll download another racing game and see how it goes and report back but this is bad news... my 12 year old son for 6 years only plays a single type of video game... the Forza series...so now all of sudden I bought a new console that won’t work properly with his setup...

My game isn't registering my gas input correctly. the values jump all over the place. I tested Fm7 and horizon 2 and my gas pedal is working normally in those games. There's definitely some sort of issue with wheels in the series x version. It's unplayable in this state.

my pedals (T3PA pedal set) and shifter (VG TH8A) plugged into my Thrustmaster TMX Pro do work in FH4 on the Series X for me. The wheel still has a violent chattering when turning off neutral center in the game no matter the in game wheel settings, i've tried reducing vibration to 0 and dramatically reducing force feedback with little impact. the chatter also occurs in the wheel in the neutral position if under braking. i downloaded Dirt 4 a game I've never played before and the wheel is much better in that game but has some chatter that seems to much in the turns that I don't think its right either, but its a off-road game so I'm not sure. bottom line remains that if i plug this setup into my Xbox One X that I still have the problem goes away. in FH4 on the One X the wheel is smooth in turns only exhibiting vibration when appropriate because you exit the road or are skidding etc. I'm not sure if the issue is the driver implemenation on the Series X or some kind of change in Forza Horizon in the special version for the S/X... hopefully at some point soon we can get an acknowledgement they know an issue exists and are working on it... I feel pretty bad because my son plays exactly ONE video game and has for 6+ years... Forza Horizon. He has a decent chair setup etc. and now this fancy new console I hyped up for having a better version of Forza doesn't really work right anymore. I'm sure it will get resolved, first world problems I guess.

I use a Logitech G920 (which I know is a different unit to the thread title).

On the Xbox One X my Steering Deadzone (inner value) was set to 5. When I started playing on the Xbox Series X I found my settings had carried over but the steering felt quite laggy. In the end I lowered the value to 3 which sorted the issue for me. This was the only aspect that was out for me - the function and implementation of everything else carried over perfectly for me.

It may not seem like a massive change but it does support the idea that things are set up differently between the One and Series versions of the game. It may simply be that the designated values for each input carry different weighting on the Series X so perhaps playing around with some of the settings again might sort things for you.

I hope those that are affected are able to find a solution.

PS: On a side note I notice they've sorted the glitch whereby visiting the dashboard or pinging an invite requires a refresh of your steering wheel settings.

Update: Forza support reached out to me based on my bug ticket & report and said the developers have confirmed the issue with the Thrustmaster TMX Pro wheel and are working on a fix at this time...

I have the same problem on Thrustmaster TX, it's slighly resolved by dramatically reducing the force feedback strength. but that really isn't a solution.

Interesting, I think I was able to make my wheel (TMX) feel gravely when I turned up either the Center Spring effect or one of the other settings. Must be an error with their force feedback interpretation in the wheel sending too much vibration or something regardless of the sliders......glad they are sorting it out. But you guys who run high levels of FFB on a Thrustmaster wheel, I guess you guys all drive cars with no power steering or something? :D I have to set mine somewhere between 25 and 35 for it to feel like a 'normal car wheel weight' to me, with the understanding that the TMX wheels are only like 10 or 11" wide and so a larger or heavier wheel will mean you want more FFB to throw that wheel around....
