I don't think you can help, hell, they knew the problem from tickets long ago and didn't fix it back then. There is proof and screenshots in my previous tickets about other issues, which could've been created because of this dual tag in one account.

I have a different game tag than this one, so all my progress is lost now that I reinstalled the game after I got a new PC. Lots of progress.

So they have to reattach the other game tag to my account somehow, or transfer its progress to this game tag.

I don't know how those got mixed anyway, THEY gave me the game tags, I only bought the game ONCE and it worked fine with the other game tag.

Honestly that seems like user error. You make it sound like you have two gamer tags. If you do, your save can only be linked to 1 account, not both.

How is this a user error? How can I have two tags when I have one email and one game, and they gave me the tag themselves? How can I even choose my tag or have two tags for a game? If that's possible, then why not use the other tag anyway?

Plus I mentioned this issue to them years ago and they were fine with it, didn't change it. Microsoft knew, forza team knew and yet while they helped me with some other issues, they let this go.

Because you need a gamer tag to save progress and play online.

You said in your original problem that you have a different gamer tag than the one you’re posting on. Gamer tag A and gamer tag B. If you play and save on A you can not transfer any of it to B. If you started a new account, B, you cannot transfer saves from A.

Anything wrong with that, you need to clarify.

In that case, I just want access to my other gamer tag. How can I do it?

I sign in with my email, the email the game is registered with, and it automatically logs in with this account. It did in game, it did in xboxlive, and in xbox companion, and microsoft store. I never get the option to sign in using my other gamer tag, so I can send confirmation to my email etc and log in with it.

Did you notice my post above about using the Xbox Console Companion app to switch accounts, that is how you switch between different Xbox accounts on PC.

I can't switch accounts, I don't have another account, I never get the option to sign in with a different gamer tag. You log in with the email and password, and the gamer tag comes up automatically and it's not the one with the progreess.

However, I can still search the gamer tag with the progress and it appears, shows no email and I can't have access to it. How can both it and me have the game. Either they gifted me a game in which case I want that account and not this one, or there can be two gamer tags in a single account, in which case there has to be a way to log in with a different gamer tag.

This is not a double account issue, because I only have one copy of the game and they can't both have the game.

No, you seem confused about how it works - it doesn't work like that. I only own one copy of the game, which I bought on my main account, but I do nonetheless have two distinct Xbox live accounts which both have access to the game in Windows.

I am not prompted to choose gamertags either, if I do the things you do. You have to manually choose it through the Xbox app as I explained previously. You will then get the option to enter a different email and password (and if you have forgotten the password you can get it reset).

I don't know of any other email that has a different gamer tag.

There is no option to show the email of a gamer tag, nor log in with a gamer tag.

In xbox app if I sign out, I can only sign in with the email, I only have one, and the gamer tag is this one automatically.

If I switch accounts, I can only create a new account or log in with an email. I used the "forgot user name option", yet the email IS the user name and just says I should try and log in. No gamer tag option anywhere, it's tied to the email.

Same Windows account login/password, yes. Same Xbox live account, no. (I understand how people can be confused, because Microsoft doesn't make the process very clear.)

My two Xbox accounts are on different email addresses.

How can I change gamer tag within the email then?

It can't be any other way, because I only have one copy of the game on this email, confirmed by xbox app.

I've tried to explain it to you the best I can but I think it isn't working so I'll leave you to try your luck with support I guess.

What I will say, the idea of them merging two accounts / saves somehow is something I don't think they either will or even can do, even if they wanted to. I literally don't think it's possible for that to be done.

Here is how you switch Xbox accounts while still being logged into the same Windows account (it is confusing because of the terminology Microsoft uses. ie. they call it a 'Microsoft account' and make no reference to Xbox live, even though the types of accounts seem to be synonymous).

(This won't help the OP solve his problem though I don't think, indeed I think his problem if I am understanding it correctly, cannot be solved as such.)

Thanks everybody, but the account is gone.

They say I have another email, likely the one I used to play the demo with, and they can't tell me which it is. And now I have to find a throwaway email, gain access to it first, then they'll give me the gamer tag, which I would do anyway had I known and had access to the email. Gain access to a throwaway email, on a new PC, after years...I don't even know where to look, and gmail can't possibly give me access to it anyway since it needs a phone confirmation, name or whatever which I don't put on throwaway emails.

And I told them, how can both account have the game, and they told me one could be demo or limited time or game pass.

1. Noone can make such progress or play hundrends of hours on a demo account or limited account. WHY did THEY let me play that much in the first place?

2. I told them I could confirm payment info instead. They can't look, they won't touch that account unless I can confirm the email. I never paid for a game pass. How on earth I completed the game and 2 expansions on a limited play edition.

3. I ALREADY have an email with an ultimate edition copy on my account, which has ZERO progress in YEARS, which I of course won't start from scratch and refuse to play, and that seems normal to them. As if I am dead set to steal that other gamer tags progression, an ultimate edition copy can't possibly be satisfying to a thief that me, no, I'd rather lose both than play a free ultimate edition I can PROVE I logged in recently. No, I am trying to steal that other gamer tag, that noone uses, and let both accounts rot.

4. I can PROVE from previous tickets that I informed them about this problem THEY created years back, they can look at my previous tickets. I have screenshots on them. The email is the same, else I wouldn't be able to see them. Their customer support gave me a car, fixed things based on those accounts and duality, yet now I can't have access to it and they won't even tell me where to look.

I don't know what to say, I am waiting for the forza team ticket, maybe they can help. If not, then I have an ultimate edition account I'll probably give away, cause I am not starting from scratch again. I'll give the email too, I don't have any other use for it, it was created to buy Forza Horizon 4 and possible future microsoft store games, which I very much doubt will happen again.

For a company that has almost instant live chat support, their support certainly sucks. I am paying for their mistake.

Thanks for trying to help. Maybe I'll donate the game here once the forza team rejects my ticket aswell, like a good WANNABE ACCOUNT THIEF would do. Enjoy two rotting accounts Microsoft, well done.

If I’m following you correctly, you set up an Xbox gamertag at some point, using an email address which you can’t now recall. You then used that account to play FH4 for a long time. When you got your new PC you created a new gamertag, presumably because you couldn’t remember the details for the old one, and (understandably as it’s a different account) your old game details haven’t transferred across. Have I followed that correctly? If so, I can’t see how this is PG’s fault. You’ve forgotten the details so can’t access that account. Unfortunate but not much PG can do about it.

How can I play the game for a long time with an account I DON'T OWN THE GAME WITH?!!!! I have access to the account that OWNS THE GAME.

I installed the game using the email I own the account with, the gamer tag appears automatically and I have no say for it! If this is not the correct gamer tag HOW ON EARTH does it have an ultimate edition copy inside and HOW ON EARTH do I have access to it?!

What, I can only guess might have happened, is they allowed me to play the ultimate edition using the demo account gamer tag, and now they removed the demo gamer tag along with its progress. How is it my fault THEY allowed me to play a full game and 2 expansions with a demo account that didn't have the full game, I couldn't seperate these things back then, I just wanted to play the game. I wanted a new clean account for Microsoft Store, so I ignored the demo account but THEY didn't and let me use that gamer tag for ANOTHER account that shared nothing but the same PC. And it's something I mentioned to them twice at least in previous tickets as possible root of the problem of the other issues, and they let it go.

Either the other gamer tag doesn't have the game or it does. If it doesn't, WHY does it have hundrends of hours of gametime and so much progress? If it does, WHY do I have two copies?!

I am telling them I have tickets to prove, I have access to an ultimate account with NO progress I am unwilling to play, and what I get in response is "we can't even tell you which email you're supposed to log in with". Good then, me, the thief, will gift away an ultimate edition just because I want that specific gamer tag's progress, which is inactive for as long as I am and they already supported me with it.

Oh, I am gonna remember this in the future, they can be sure.

You can play any game on your machine with other accounts which you don't own the game with. That's how the Xbox ecosystem works. It sounds like you would need to take it up with Microsoft support directly rather than PG, but it still might come down to them not being able to do anything because of security reasons, which is I'm sure what you would expect after all.

The other gamertag doesn't need to 'own' the game if it had access to it on the machine and account that does own it. It doesn't mean there are two copies.

I think the lesson is to be careful of what accounts you're using and to write down the emails and passwords somewhere safe in future (either on a text file on your PC or with pen and paper).

I used customer support as this account and yet got items and issuses fixed on my other account? How, I never gave them any emaill, I can see it in the tickets. I even mentioned to them why the problems might arise, cause of this dual gamer tag thingy. I altered things on the other gamer tag, with a ticket opened with this gamer tag.

This is no support, I am losing an account of hundrends of hours of gameplay because of a throwaway email I used to play the demo with, and they can't tell me which one is it.

Can "friends" in xbox companion see which email their friends have? Maybe one of them can tell me.

I don't think so. I just had a look in the privacy options for my account and there are various settings like letting people see your real name and location but no mention of email that I can see.

does the old PC still exists and running?
If yes, you should be able to get the information.

If the PC does not exists, does a image backup exists?
If no PC and no backup = housten we have a problem!

I sold the old pc, the hard disk is formatted. I don't know what image backup is.

I should be able to get the account either way, this is terrible support. Other sites will not abandon you for an email, there are other proof but they don't want to go through with it.

ok, the only way should be an reverse identification. from GT back to email.
but then you are clearly outside the horizon 4 area. your contact person is microsoft.
but the proof, that this is your account could be hard. as you has no hardware-id like xbox id or something else anymore.

and as sorry as I am, it's your own fault.
