Love the vintage classes. Spoilt for choice. So decided to do a quick Cosmo build and tune and try and spend the rest of the week beating it ;). Some really cool cars here.

Trouble is ... driving this track feels like riding a bicycle round your living room :)

Edit: Might be an idea if i actually posted the time too haha

I found a tune by Kid for a Comet (apologies..... Cosmo) that drive like the proverbial comet getting me within a shout of 52’s..... 😮😎

Now for a quick change of pace... what are opinions of the new Top Gear team.... while they lack the appeal of Clarkson, Hammond, and May; there is some chemistry and I think the show just might work with them. My favorite is Chris Harris..... not quite sure about the other two but time will tell..... 🧐

I don’t know too much about Chris Harris, but clearly recruited for his car knowledge, and driving skills. Freddie and Paddy are both better known personalities in the UK.

It looks like the shows will be good 👍

Managed a 00:50:732 in the Lancia Fulvia. I saw Wan Ge 1 had ran a time and I thought i'll give it a shot. There's not much in it like 2/100s of a second separates us. I reckon the Elan or the Cosmo will be the cars to beat around here although the Alfa GTA might surprise me. Looking forward to seeing what you guys build I'll give anything a shot

Welcome back! BTW, what VIEW do you use? Thanks!

Which Top Gear team have you got? Is it Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness and (Andrew) Freddie Flintoff team? They're an improvement over the Matt Le Blanc seasons, It isn't as heavily scripted as the Matt Le Blanc seasons, Paddy and Freddie work okay together (and get better) and Chris is there as the respected car journalist. Not at the levels of Clarkson, Hammond and May, but they did have about 12 years together.

Back to this week's challenge, found a Cosmo that had a tune by PrKid already attached so bounced around the track and set a time around the 00:51.3

You'll soon get me. I'm consistently bumping up against 51.2 barrier (3 different cars so far).

I've just got a nose in front of you just now Rob with 51:224 - only 0.004 in it.

If you could bring yourself to use manual with clutch, you'd be killing me.

I like the current Top Gear crew, they genuinely look like they're enjoying themselves, which helps I think. Any idea when the new series starts? I've seen a trailer but no date yet.

We have started getting Season 28 on BBC America here in the USA so it may already have kicked off.....

I couldn't tell you what season number it is Burnin - but we've already had two full seasons of the new line up in the UK and the third season is due soon.

Took my Cortina out for (yet another) spin to the tune of 0:52.0. Made a few track-specific adjustments to the setup (more aggressive LSD, less aggressive Rebound) to get a bit more exit traction and knocked that down to a 0:51.7. Currently have added some toe in on the front to try to get it to bite a little harder at turn in, but ran out of steam before I got a chance to test it. It's currently pushing a bit on entry, then catching mid-corner and overstepping the rear. Hoping a sharper initial turn in will give it a more consistent demeanor through the whole corner, and allow me to better judge whether the ARBs need a pass or not. Don't want to stray too far from my goals with the car, but Catalunya has some deceptively nasty grade changes on both of the big corners that are causing me fits.

Current best: 0:51.756

I remember seeing 4th October for UK release.

I'll see if if I can find the 0.005 to slide back in front of you Mr D 😁

Really enjoying this one. Aim to have a go with most cars if I have time.

50.228 Lotus Elan. Think its capable of a sub 50s. Just need to nail the downhill left and clip the curbs without upsetting the balance of the car too much.
As always tunes are uploaded..

Rob, thanks for the date, not too far away then - good stuff. F1 this weekend, bit of Top Gear next, at least that's something to look forward to with all the doom & gloom with covid just now.

I noticed Costless had run a 124 Spider with a tune by an old competitor (o Okierican o) so gave that a spin, new PB 51:054 managed to leapfrog Barnycull (who's ghost I'd been chasing).

Good to see so many old names popping up on the LB. I assume PTG Greek is Greeksniper - noticed he's run a 73 escort to a 49:669 does seem to be a fair few options in this little grouping.

I need to find another .3ish of a second to catch Costless & Wan Ge but suspect they can/ will run again to beat that time before this is over.

Sorry DamMe, I've moved the goal posts a bit, managed a 49.585 in the GTA with one of Moss's old tunes 👍👍

Fair play Wan Ge, an extra second to catch up is a big ask but I should get some track time in tomorrow - so who knows - never say never.

It's doable I used the same setup and I'm on a 49.7xx I did mange a dirty 49.5 but I'm just not being consistent enough atm. Looking forward to the F1 tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be an exciting race. I've got tickets for the Istanbul

Sneaked ahead of DamMe with 50.969 in an Alfa.
Updated time: 50.659

F1 tomorrow, hope it rains, might add some excitement to the Mercedes procession.

The competition just keeps piling on the pressure, nice time Rob.

I think the race tomorrow could be interesting anyway, with Hamilton having to run a different tyre strategy & some of the mid field runners looking fairly strong (renault/ racing point). Verstappen seems to be pretty close on pace as usual & Bottas god bless him just doesn't seem to have the same edge as Hamilton - so wouldn't be surprised if he gets swamped on the first lap. I could be wrong he's won races when Hamilton's been on the back foot before, we'll see I guess.

& @ Liam I've been lucky enough to go to Silverstone a couple of times, they're usually a great day/ weekend. Hopefully it is for you @ Istanbul

I put in a couple of laps in the 2002 and the 2000 GT-R with the controller.
Still quite a bit of the pace, using "classic tunes" I made myself, nothing track specific.
I have the line down again, need to fire up the wheel and get the smoothest tune I have. The ideal line is very tight around here and I am probably going to be faster with the wheel as it allows smoother inputs.

Odin - I can definitely recommend Moss's GTA tune. It just sticks like glue through the corners (& that's on my wheel). New PB 49:989 I might not have caught Wan Ge on that run but I'm a lot closer!

That puts me top 100 - (85th) I'd have been highly doubtful of achieving that earlier in the week. Kid looks to be taking top honours at the moment though, with a stunning 48:745 impressive stuff.

Just improved quite a bit with the wheel. Low 52's.
Might give that GTA a try, thx for the tip. But it is a really narrow margin of what I like and can handle, driving wheel with sim steering.

Odin - I'm using sim steering as well - only assist being driving line. I struggle with a lot of rear wheel drive cars - not with that GTA though it's planted. Let us know how you get on, I think you'll like it.

EDIT;

New PB 49:883

Happy days, still away behind Wan but edging nearer
