This just happened to me AGAIN in less than 2 weeks. SERIOUSLY?? I'll just get my cars back again and I'm not playing this game on PC anymore. I don't care about graphics or 60 fps. Playing on an Xbox was far safer than playing on PC.

but on PC you're able to do a backup.

The only time I've had this problem on PC was when I recently fitted a new CPU that made my PC unstable, and the game crashed. It's not surprising that this can corrupt the save. I just followed the instructions in the link in the message it gave, deleted my local save, and it re-downloaded my save from the cloud and everything was fine. I've swapped the CPU back now.

The other thing that can cause problems on PC is a PC won't prevent you from shutting it down too soon. Always look in task manager, sort by network, and don't shut down till the game save has completed the upload to the cloud. I'd guess an Xbox has something in its OS that keeps it running until this has completed.

Is that true or is that just an assumption some people have made. We can be sure that the game does not upload the entire save to the cloud each time you play, because the save can be huge and take minutes to upload for some people (mine would take about ten minutes on my slow line). The save is not just one file but thousands of small ones. The game presumably uploads only those files which have actually changed to the cloud, which would be rapid if not virtually instantaneous.

I've had this error a few times and don't shut down my PC. However, I have often played at night and then put my PC to sleep moments after closing the game, and if doing that were to corrupt the save then I would be having the problem a few times a week, which I certainly don't.

btw, that's ten minutes on my slow line, if Microsoft's cloud system actually used the full speed of my line, when in actuality it seems to use a fraction of it, which is why resyncing takes ages (like an hour). So I think this thing about turning your PC off too quickly is a red herring.

I agree it must only upload what has changed, though the fidelity with which it can separate changed from unchanged parts will have some limit. I know when I've created or downloaded numerous tunes in one session it transfers a lot of data afterwards, it can use 10+Mbps for a minute or more to transfer the save afterwards.

If you interrupt the transfer of the save to the cloud, that may not in itself cause the local save to be corrupted, but it clearly sets the scene for potential problems. If you use a different device to play the game, it can only reference what is in the cloud, so you're going to get diverging saves. With another game that uses Xbox saving, I often had messages that there was unsaved progress from another device, before I knew about having to wait for it to save to the cloud before shutting down. And if the save to the cloud is interrupted, it knows the local save is more up to date, so that could cause a bigger problem in the event of it becoming corrupted than if the cloud save is the most up to date. I'm sure you have in the past talked about having problems related to the save, so I'd say putting the PC to sleep before it can complete the upload is not helping with that, as I've never had a single problem since always waiting for the save to complete, except for the CPU causing the crash. Even that didn't cause it every time, it crashed a 2nd time after resyncing after the first time, and that didn't corrupt the save, but that doesn't mean the crash wasn't the cause of the corruption the first time. There are often windows of opportunity for corruption if the code isn't written in a way that guarantees transactional integrity, so you randomly hit one of those windows some times but not others. Goodness know why it isn't coded to guarantee transactional integrity, when methods to do that are simply business as usual in e.g. RAID operating systems.

Another thing is that on those occasions when the game has crashed to the desktop, the save isn't corrupted when I restart the game, my progress is still there and it doesn't resync. Granted, that could be because like you say, it's on the same device, but were I to try a different device then the cloud save might be older.

I've never had a look to see how much uploading takes place after exiting the game (properly rather than crashing). I would have assumed the answer was none, but if you say it uploads something then I'll defer to you. Without looking or checking, I would have assumed the data which has changed would be minor, such as what cars you now own if that's changed, credits, player level. The other stuff like rivals times, PR stunt scores and online rank are of course stored centrally and not related to your save. I assume the largest files are related to car paints, which I assume do form part of your save file, otherwise if the original creator were to delete them, it would remove them from your cloud save, which I don't think is the case.

I would assume that when you get a livery or make one of your own, that it uploads it to your cloud save while the game is running, before it will let you select quit from the menu. Lots of assumptions, could be wrong, but just going on what seems logical here. Like I say, I've put the PC to sleep straight away probably hundreds of times since the game came out, but have only had this save error a handful of times, so while that doesn't disprove your contention by any means, it also suggests to me it's either a non-issue or a rare one.

Even if you do alt-f4, it uploads the save to the cloud after. I've seen that because I've done a fair bit of benchmarking where it gives you no option to exit the game, you can only restart it, so I alt-f4 after restarting, and it uploads game save data.

Yes, the E:47-0 problem. I've done some looking but have yet to successfully resolve the problem without uninstalling and reinstalling the game. And, yes, it did it again today (12/23). It's been frustrating to say the least.

I lost everything to this bug ten days ago. Support unlocked my inventory, but all my progress from the past year was gone.

This evening, I got the E:47-0 message again, and tried some of my usual attempts to cure it, but suspect everything's been lost. There's nothing in the save folder.

I'll be able to get my inventory back, but will once again have to start from scratch.

I dread seeing the game telling me that it's syncing because I don't know whether it's going to be a couple of moments or eight hours followed by some message that it was unable to sync at all.

As ThatOneOldGuy72 says above: "It's been frustrating to say the least."

25th Dec. Update. This time I tried deleting the \wgs folder and restarting my laptop. FH4 took four hours to sync at the end of which, it said it’d been unable to. I opted to play offline, and found that everything was just as I left it (phew!) Not only that, but I was online as well.

I'm sorry to post this but I am really desperate not to lose all my progress, I have played on PC and Xbox one x and my phone. I have had this code come up a few times and it has always fixed by switching to a different device. This time no Joy and all I am missing car wise is a few Pre order cars.

My question is there anything I can try to get my progress back as I have spent so many hours getting to the levels that I did to have to redo that is just soul destroying.

I have read through as many posts as I can but it all seems to point to restarting, has anyone got any tips; please

These are the suggestions I've had from support:

1. Forza profile is no longer available with an error code or an Invalid Profile.

For PC players on Windows 10 Pro only : if you know your way around your PC, you can try deleting the \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.SunriseBaseGame_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs folder on your local hard drive. After doing so, please reboot the computer and then restart the game. You should then be able to sync and play again.

If that does not work for you, or if you are playing on any other platform, please try the following:

Fully close the game. (more info on how to do this here).
Ensure your Xbox or PC’s internet connection is functioning correctly.
Restart the game.
After pressing A or ENTER on the welcome screen wait for the sync to complete. This could take a long time, but it is important to be patient.

If the same error message continues to appear after fully restarting the game, try the following troubleshooting:

Fully close the game. (more info on how to do this here).
Ensure your Xbox or PC’s internet connection is functioning correctly.
Delete the local console save data
Follow the steps from this article for how to delete saves.
Select 'Delete from Console'.
For PC try the following:
Go to your Windows 10 Settings --> Storage --> Apps & games -->Forza -->Advanced Options -->Select the "Reset" button.
Restart the game.
After pressing A on the welcome screen wait for the sync to complete. This could take a long time, but it is important to be patient.

If these ideas do not work, then can you please use the Report A Problem feature to capture the issue?

2. Report a Problem

For both devices, you will want to note the title of the report you submitted and reply to this ticket with title so we can take a look.

If Step 1 did not work, then you will need to complete Step 3!

3. Delete your save from everywhere

*Please note that this will wipe your save from everywhere and you will be starting fresh. There is no way to recover your old save.

Please follow these steps based on your device: You do not need to do both devices. If you have an Xbox, its easier to do it there.

I've tried several of the W10 fixes on my laptop with varying degrees of success. I don't know whether these will fix your issue. It might be best to go to support, explain the situation, and see whether they can unlock your missing cars for you.

I was prestige 6 a month ago, and now I'm prestige 1. I had over 25,000 Forzathon points, albeit with little to spend them on. All that effort to be reset to zero. Sigh.

Ok so this afternoon I deleted the saved game and played offline, I then went back online after getting to level 20 and unlocking all the the ability to do Forzathon's. closed down the game and then went back on online and tried syncing the old account and still the same error code.

Have I tried everything?

First thing I did was submit a support request and then I have tried the following steps,

Logged on from a different device PC, 2 different Xbox's and my mobile
deleted save game and re-synced
deleted full game including game save and reinstalled
deleted save game and played offline up to level 20 and then logged back into the game online.

Nothing has cleared this fault and although I have seen some guidance about deleting my game save on the cloud too i am really reluctant to do this until I know for sure it is definitely gone.

Can anyone give me any hope at all or is it just better to bite the bullet and get started on a new account?

Damn also lost my progress. Tried all the options mentioned here. Half a year of Gaming lost.

You would think saving in the cloud would be safe to restore the game. Apperently it's not...

I will open a ticket. Pffff feel a bit devastating...

I had exactly the same thing some months ago. I managed it loading up a backup into the cloud. I played since then everyday and got a permaban last week. After 3 supporttickets understanding "why i got the ban" it seems like they blocked me, because i cant login on the support site... dafuq?

Is this the thing they treat their customers? I mean come on getting banned for a gameerror is scandalous.

Does anybody know what to do now?

I heard backing up your saves invalidates your original save. Because of this, I use my Xbox as a back up save for my PC. After support telling me to delete my progress because my save is corrupted, I manged to restore to a much older save by loading the game on my Xbox offline, connecting online, saving game by changing settings, then I quit, log back in on pc, use the broken cloud sync, if it doesn't work I repeat the process until it does actually sync. Now I sync my PC game on Xbox using the same method every time I finish playing on PC. My Xbox is basically the world's largest memory card for a single game because the devs are too incompetent to have a functioning cloud sync or even a safe way to physically transfer saves.

Mad how they just insist you start again when the problem is actually easily rectified. Actually a disgusting excuse for "support".

The same. I thing the problem is connected with new actualisation. I had te same when FH4 introduced 7 series on december.
Lyra C. gave me back inventory, but without compenstaion ( I was close to finish star cards). Nowday I have the same problem made in the day of new patch (it is problem of game not my computer. Maybe connected with language pack or sth).

In addition now Lyra C. do not response on my problem ticket, because last time I want compensation for my wasted time.
Time play Cyberpunk 2077, wich has less bugs.

Do somebady has eny ideas how manually change corrupted files or change support staff?

Had all cars in game (multiples made it 800+) minus dlc cars, plus about 300M creds and several dozen wheel and super spins.
Funny thing is I have about 9 auctions that ended with cars that did not sell I can still see, but can't reclaim the cars.
Was pretty miffed at first, but love the game so I can forgive.

I got this msg a week ago on desktop, backed up everything (desktop and laptop), started the game from laptop, as it had a day older save. Sync asked me which one I want: newer from cloud or older from laptop, picked older, it uploaded it and all was back to normal in world of Forza :).

I just want to tell you my personal experience:

I had max credits, and almost all cars, and had that E-47 problem. After deleting game data, and (very slowly) syncing from the cloud (it's always a very long time do download data from xbox services. unfortunatelly), cloud data were also corrupted. I've tried some file debugging, but ended up opening a ticket, IN THE HOPE they could do something to restore my progress.

When opening a ticket, I opened it specifying saved data problem, and somewhere in ticket page it said that support wouldn't be able to restore user progress. Probably I would then open a ticket only to be able to start the game from scratch (a thing most players can accomplish without the need of any support).

But I thought support could do something to everyone, as I remember some famous youtube person had lost the progress, and this person got a credits compensation to buy all (possible to buy) cars.

Fortunatelly (or not, in your case), I had done some backup months later, so the only things I had to recover were hard to find cars, because when I restored that old backup, game synced some some newer things (like my tunes). I've already recovered cars doing festival playlists. The only current problem (not a big deal) is some thumbnails are missing from cars I've modified, but this one is easy to fix: it only takes doing some modification in the affected car, and game will generate an updated thumbnail.

Anyway, good luck.

I got the Error E:47-0 described here after my computer rebooted while I was still in game:

https://support.forzamot...is-invalid-what-do-I-do-

I followed the instructions here (deleted my local save; disconnected the internet, started a new game and new local save, reconnected, and resynched with the cloud) and I still get the error.

In addition to that, even if I start over with a new local save and reach the point that online mode becomes available (qualify for Autumn and complete the 1st event at Tarn Hows), I still can't connect online (I always get an "server error" telling me to "try again later") - so at this point, online mode is completely unavailable to me.

Does anyone have any ideas here? Such as the game falsely detecting hacks/cheats or something? If the computer restarting can completely lock you out of your profile and online play, that is pretty poor design and quite frustrating.

I have a theory about this issue on PC and perhaps how to prevent it.

My theory is that it's caused by updates to W10 or to the xbox app or the console companion or the xbox game bar.

When we had some updates just recently, I checked the xbox app. I'd been logged out; I logged back in. When I checked the console companion and my profile on it, I got a message saying that because of my previous behaviour etc. (Me: What?! Driving badly in Horizon 4?) until a few moments later, I was back on again. I also checked the game bar (Windows key + g) to make sure that registered me as being online.

Right now, when I'm intending to play FH4, I check all three of these first, and sometimes the MS shop to see if there are any updates.

I don't know whether this also applies to anyone playing the game on an xbox, or whether this might entirely prevent E:47-0 from happening, but it seems better to try and stop it before it starts because the cure is a tedious nuisance, especially when syncs are taking four to eight+ hours and often ending with a "failed sync" message (but everything seems all right when you choose the "play offline" option).

Sad to say, this won't immediately help anyone who's here looking for a solution to E:47-0, but I hope this might help prevent the rest of us being at risk of losing progress.
