Tried the Stratos last time, and I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the suspension model for that car. Acted like it was bottoming out regardless of ride height or spring rate. Eventually gave up. Other first tier option is the Alpine, but the Driver camera position is broken and I'm not that crazy about running either Cockpit or whatever bumper cam is called. Might be willing to run the other Lancias or the Peugeot at A700, assuming I can drop the damn snails and stuff a proper motor in them.

Whatever I run, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be slow as dogsnot this time around. I don't think I've so much as set foot on the Airfield, let alone attempted to hotlap on it.

Great paint moss 👍🏼 Thanks!

Great cars and class I’ve already got a race tire evo 6 I use in lobby’s all the time that’s fast everywhere

I wanted to start on the cool slower cars so I started with the Volvo. 235 tires all around 6.2 v8 swap 500+ hp should be fun .... normal base tune was a hand full to drive tuned for a couple laps seems to drive much better 1:01.5xx

Current time
Lancia 037 0:59.157 Tune shared 👍🏼

Tunes shared at the moment
Volvo 242 1:01.4
Evo 6 race tire
Evo 6 sport tire
Ford escort 59.9
Renault alpine
Lancia 037 59.157

Evening All,

Took the Ford Escort '92 out for a spin, using wheel, bumper cam 1:02.835 is my current time.

Had a really happy moment, beat Moss's ghost, only to go round first corner and be blown away by Kid's - his lap had been dirty when I started lapping but must have improved while I was chasing Moss.

Fun whilst it lasted, all 3 - 4 seconds lol.

Cheers

Thank you
Do we consider this a speed/accel circuit or grip?

I'm no expert kev, but I reckon grip/ accel should serve you better over pure speed. Mind I seem to take a different line through the first corner/ section than most of the ghosts I've chased so far.

I've had better results personally hugging the tight line whilst most (quicker lol) folk seem to take the wide line and carry a bit more speed in to the first covered section.

New time 1:00.949 with the Mitsubishi GSX 99 - still on wheel & bumper cam.

Think I'm going to be sitting this week out. Airfield has very quickly become my least favorite track in any racing game ever, and both of the cars I'd be interested in driving have some gameplay flaw that makes them a lot less enjoyable than they otherwise should be. Best I've been able to get was a very, very dirty 1:07, and that took the better part of two hours.

On a more positive note, as long as its not being subjected to a Monster Jam track that Alpine is really, really sweet. Makes me even more frustrated that they messed up the camera position.

Found an old tune by Moss for the Escort and a new sponsor livery to go along with it..... currently sitting pretty at 1:02:999. 😎

Spent a bit of time figuring out the wider line & managed to scrape down to 1:00.526 - still same car/tune/wheel/bumper cam as before.

I could possibly get that down to a very high 59 with some more time/ patience & a little luck - we'll see.

Did a bit of chasing your ghost the other night. Had to switch to a Cosworth FE to catch you and take the wide line too. The wider tyres seem to help on that first corner(S).

Hope there is room for me to get a bit back to this again, I see I am on the LB already :-)

I am in the Audi and it continues to take off at the bump even with full aero, not so sure how to keep in on the ground .....

Using the Ford Escort tuned by HLR Moss, I've bumped, bounced, slid, bounced again my way to 1:02.303
Apologies to anyone if my rear wing causes their lap to become dirty. I think I left it in the middle of the 1st chicane.

Welcome back TeXeN7!

Try adjusting your Ride Heights to ensure you have a "flatter in the air" ride (i.e. minimize front-to-rear angle). For example...on one of the cars I ran this week I had Min/Max (I think it was the 22B)
ou can also adjust springs for better balance.

BTW, what VIEW do you run so we can capture it in our LB data? Thanks!

Nice run Burnin'. Hope the smoke clears before I get to run. Don't know how you had the patience to run for 45 laps.

Played with a Lancia, changed my line for the first section got a bit quicker and now down to a 1:00:387 and nearly dropped my controller in shock as it came out of the blue taking over 3/4 of a second off my then PB on the same run. I have been using chase far this time round.

Gave it what will probably be my last run at this one - work switched around my hours, so getting in a bit later.

Got it down to 1:00.168 same car/tune/camera as before - was on controller for that run - more out of laziness than any belief it'd be faster.

I'm definitely closer to my controller times than I used to be & have found some hard if not impossible to beat after running the wheel.

I noticed some time ago that if you pause your race without exiting Rival mode and then shut the power off to the box, when you turn it on again it will let you resume your race. So 30 laps Monday throughout as RL permitted and 15 on Tuesday AM with the goal of a PB come hell or high water and there you go..... 😉

Had my fingers crossed I would make a strong place this week but I was out driven by hansonalanrob who came from behind and set a stronger time to make a good show and deserves hearty congratulations as does everyone who set Airfield on fire this week....

Official time..... Airfield.... Ford Escort 92..... HLR BURNINASPHALT...... 1:02:661..... 😎

Don’t feel like another 45 lap marathon.... 😂

I don't think that the Airfield Circuit was welcomed by all, but our numbers held up at 29, thanks to our returning drivers VelosterOne (F4R Vanquish), sk15kev, and TeXeN7. The jump, and bumps on this short track require a little more tuning effort than normal, and can be frustrating.

The cars took us by surprise. At the start of the week we could not find a single car from the division in the top 200, and we certainly did not expect them to be competing with the Lotus 340Rs. Both the Lancia 037, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI performed brilliantly, and we ended the week with 3 drivers in the top 10, and 9 in the top 20.

xAlea took the win after a very close battle with PRKid, and minsons took the remainng podium place. Tier 2 saw razzitGT winning from Coopracing, and BruteTerror. All 3 running sub 59 second laps and finishing top 20. UnearthlyDNA won tier 3 with time to spare.

Congratulations to all our winners.

Here is a snapshot of the final standings:

Our winners:

Tier 1: xAlea Jacta Est wins a paint for his 1982 Lancia 037 Stradale.

Tier 2: razzitGT wins a paint for his 1982 Lancia 037 Stradale.

Tier 3: UnearthlyDNA wins a paint for his 1982 Lancia 037 Stradale.

Tuners Prize: EZT CHRONIC wins a paint for his 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI.

To claim your paints, message HLR Moss to arrange it's sharing whilst you are waiting in the car to download. We don't want anyone else to grab them. They are each personalised for the winner and hopefully will provide you with a memory of the event.

For our next challenge we are off to Brazil to drive some vintage sportscars around Rio. Good luck!

1977 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
1970 Alfa Romeo Montreal
1968 Ferrari 365 GTB/4
1967 Lamborghini Miura P400

Only 4 cars this week. On both occasions we have run these cars, the Montreal was the winner. Can it repeat it at Rio, or will the handling of the Miuira be a factor?
