Hello there.

I have purchased Xbox Game Pass two days ago because of Forza Horizon 4. Now, I have played FH4 before, and the game was functioning well up until now for some reason.

Yesterday, I reinstalled every possible driver I could, all drivers from motherboard manufacturer/gpu drivers/sound drivers. I've tried running the game with only mouse and keyboard (and later even without that) plugged in with no avail.

I've had enough so the last possible thing that could work would be reinstalling whole windows. I'm using newest/clean installation of w10 and again, same result.
I'm just wondering what am I doing wrong, or so if I'm doing anything wrong.

you're not the only one, it appears that out of no where my forza and my mates (both pc) just wont start at all. We both don't get past the initial splash screen before the game crashes.

I have no idea why the games 'hangs' according to windows since it worked perfectly fine from release up to now.

you might want to look at windows event viewer to see what error message you are getting.

yeah, same message as mine. Submit a support ticket with that information and a DxDiag file.

Don't expect much help from the support staff since that have not gotten back to me in nearly 14 days, but as long as it's still logged hopefully the more technical staff at playgrounds can start working on a fix.

Don't worry, many people have been hit by this.

Also you can take this up with Microsoft since they are now aware of the issue as a whole.

I believe it's exactly the same error for everyone who has a problem with launching the game.

I have passed the information directly to the Turn 10 Panel, but have heard nothing. I also raised a ticket with support, and again I'm waiting to hear.

By comparison, there was a huge update for Wreckfest at the beginning of this week and it properly messed up things for pc players - some not launching at all, other with terrible performance. Yesterday, Bugbear released a hotfix to address almost all issues raised. That's how it should be done!

My problems started on 26 Aug after 23:00 GMT and after a point where the store had performed an update. I was playing FH4 earlier that day with no issue, but after the update I could not launch.

I think I've tried everything aside from a fresh install of Windows.

Did you have any blue screens before this happened? I had a memory blue screen and a critical bluescreen earlier last week, then after it would not open up. I attempted all trouble shooting options and re-installed entire windows last night, all I have is the latest update nvidia driver only and forza and it won't work.... clearly it is either Forza, MS, or Nvidia.... Didn't the Forza game update itself on Tuesday? I can't remember if they preload it before the new content comes out..

Having previously worked in a software support role myself, I would advise the best course of action as updating your ticket daily with a polite request for an update. Keep bugging them until something happens!

I didn't watch the original video from OP, mine doesn't even get to the loading screen, just the splash window (not full screen) and crashes out.

What chipset you guys using or GPU? I am AMD 2700x with an Nvidia 2080? Anyone using either of those having the issue or is it just everyone...

I had the same issue but somehow managed to fix it, note that this isn't an instruction on how to do it, just what I did prior to not having the bug anymore.

(My symptoms were either crash after the initial UWP splash screen or after the intro videos)

* I installed KB4512941 because I thought it might contain a fix (it just broke my start menu, no fix)

* I uninstalled KB4512941 - still no fix

* I "repaired" FH4 in the Settings app still - no fix

* I "repaired" it again, suddenly it worked

(Might be worth trying to repair it a bunch of times and see if that helps, I doubt installing and then uninstalling the update really does anything, it also has some issues at the moment so I'd wait until they re-release it)
