Was tough for me to beat my Nova FE time but I've gone 3 tenths faster in a Peugeot 205 with Rayne's tune.

I see the value in restrictions. I think many of us have been trying alternatives by our own will and sometimes they work out. Needless the say I will try alta first every time. Driving the Daytona was nice to compare how close I can get with the same car as yourself and the other top folks in the thread. I will take it to my tests for comparison to my other times out of curiosity.

Genuinely would love to hear more car ideas that anyone is using online. I think Jezza mentioned a handful from his alt account in the FFA thread?

Haven't done much on this track apart from S2, never realized how much it favours power builds even with how tight the second half is. Was racing against Full Nietzsche's ghost and kept running 2:41s in my usual off-meta suspects (Triumph TR7, '04 WRX STi). Tried Rocklxd's off-meta tune for the 205 R and while fun, it only managed a 2:41.xxx as well. Tried a FWD Ford Puma I have and couldn't even get through the first turn cleanly. Finally settled on the '97 GT-R, ESV Suimin's power build with 700ish HP. Have gotten down to 2:39.960, 165th in the world but nowhere near FN in the FWD 205 R. Most of my tidying needs to come in the final 30% but even then I'll need a different car to get into the top 100, IMO. Curious to see what everyone else settles on.

Feels that this event is going to be either FWD/RWD or drag tyres - fairly standard for A class!

I’ve gone a bit quicker in the Peugeot, so at least I’m on the board in a qualifying car.

I managed a low 2:38 with the Lotus Eleven without any of those things, and I know it can get into the 2:37s (did it with a dirty run), but it was at the stage where it was needing every corner to be taken extremely well just to maybe end up a few tenths behind FN's Peugeot ghost, and it didn't seem worth spending any more time on it.

2.37.5 or so seems to be about the best I can do with non drag options - the 33S (Hlundh tune) might be capable of getting into the 2.36s. I’m pretty sure I’ll be into the 2.34s with some of the drag tyre options. There’s Pulsar times at that speed on the lb which must be with drags.

Zipper I tried the 02 vette on Greendale and clocked a 55s with my tunes. It has street tyres and full aero so probably rear aero can be quicker.

Try the RS7 but the 33S is easier to drive atm

I tried for a few laps too and my best was 55.5 using FRT Muka Romero's tune.

Improved to 2.34.4 in the Syclone - Rocklxd’s drag tyres tune.

Since I was asking around about non-meta alternatives, here is my list. These are generally less than 1 s / 1 min off meta that I've tested, sometimes tied or better depending on the track and tune. I have tunes shared for all of the below (if you see a car multiple times, there are multiple tunes). I don't race CC or S2 online any longer (even unranked), unless the mood is right, I had some success with '19 Macan and F1 GT.

B-Dirt:

Yeppers! I fired up unranked matchmaking and it saw you were in a lobby and put me in it. That was actually fun.

RB - I had a quick go in the 87 Pontiac on this course to see how competitive it was. It’s a very smooth drive. I did just outside 2.40 with it and could easily get into the 2.39s. That would put it about midway in my list (I did one run in all 30 or so cars I have on my alt account yesterday as I wanted to test them for ranked).

You might like to try Kaike Sykes’ Charger Daytona if you like older American options - I did 2.39.7 with my one run in that.

I've improved to 2:36.623 (68th) using Rocklxd's drag tires tune for the Pulsar. Haven't driven much on drag tires so it took some practice but I finally put a couple clean runs together. There's more to gain in the Pulsar for sure, I find braking very challenging in it so if I can manage to tidy up some corner entrances I'll get into the 2:35s for sure.

Fantastic time in the Syclone, Jezza. I'm going to give that a whirl tomorrow and see if I can get along with it better the Pulsar, but I can't see myself touching the 2:33s.

I will look that up for sure haven't used the Charger Daytona anywhere yet. As for my tunes, Countach is capable of 2.38.6 with a couple rewinds. Being a longer track I'll wait to go for clean until I test some others out.

The Pulsar and Syclone seem quite well matched here. I’ve done 33.2 with the Syclone and 33.4 with the Pulsar. I might just be able to squeeze into the 32s but the 33.2 is a fairly solid run. Both using Rocklxd’s drag tyre tunes. Will be curious to see if anything else can come close. I see there is a Peel just ahead of me so I may have to try that 😂.

You'll probably gain a few seconds in the Pulsar just by switching to M+C, based on chasing your ghost when I'm using it. (Haven't put a clean run in yet to actually beat your time though.)

Thanks for the heads up. I had never used MC before, after a couple attempts with the default binding I switched clutch to A and found some success. I can't believe how much faster it is on cars without the clutch upgrade. I always knew there was a difference but since I generally stay away from tunes requiring MC I didn't know the whole deal. Shaved 0.868 off my own ghost on my first run and got another 0.35 or so after a couple more runs, down to (IIRC) 2:35.2xx now and frankly my lines were worse on that run than the time I set with just manual. Thanks FN!

As an aside, all my posts still need to be approved by a mod, presumably since I'm a new member. How long will that last? It's rather annoying to post and have a delay before it appears in the thread.

Not sure what car i'll use...
Definitely like the '91 M3 it feels great on this track but think it's on the lower end

But hard to see that i've only used the HSV, M2 in A800 for online in 6months
