I can't improve much leaving Ambleside, best I've done is barely get a car length ahead. I notice I didn't start the ghost run very well either, I must have changed up to 2nd too early because I can easily get ahead of it off the line, but so far I'm getting overtaken subsequently. Anyway I'm sure I can figure that part out. The hardest corner I find is the one at 57% where you have to make a sudden turn which can upset the car, and you have to carry as much speed as possible through there. I usually turn too late or too early.

I'm not confident I will improve but maybe if I keep trying, I will figure it out somehow.

I tried a few other cars too like the Viper '08. I would be surprised to find something better than the Pagani. I suspect the MC12 time Jezza did, he would be able to match or better that in the Zonda for example.

edit - next run I improved... by 0.018s. As usual, did part of it better than before, part of it worse! I reckon this is more or less my best with this car, I don't see any meaningful improvements coming. It's a decent time though for AWD I think.

Thought I’d join the current challenge at last! Tried a handful of S1 cars I had around but they were all a bit lacking, so joined you in the Pagani. It’s taken a few runs to get used to the course and tune, but managed 1:30.574 putting me a bit ahead of FN. looking at the leaderboard I probably need to find some more competitive tunes as a couple of the ones I tried are up there ahead of me. I’ll try a few more as familiarity will be helping now 🙂

The best times for each car which I assume are AWD are:

1.27.871 (Alfa 155)
1.28.702 (CC8S)
1.28.705 (MC12)
1.28.735 (Zonda)
1.28.885 (EB110)
1.29.035 (NSX 92)
1.29.212 (MC12 FE)
1.29.256 (Viper 08)
1.29.336 (CLK-GTR)
1.29.615 (Ford GT)

The MC12 and Zonda therefore appear pretty well matched. That said, I think a perfect run for me in the MC12 would be 1.29.5 (current pb of 1.29.7) so I’m a long way off the best times.

I tried the MC12 for a few runs last night chasing Jezza (and messed them all up) but can see it has the potential to equal the Zonda. Whether or not I can get any extra time out of it I'm not sure, but will try to next time I'm on.

Just got within 0.035s of my time with the Alfa after a couple of runs. I could probably edge past it but not much more. Also tried the CC8S and EB110.

edit - two tenths quicker, a tenth behind Smoke.

And a few more runs, 0.05s behind now. I can go a little bit quicker I think.

And another tenth. I'm sure Smoke will beat it but it's given him something to do 😊

Thanks FN, I've been refreshing this hourly this afternoon while in work to see your progress, it was only a matter of time :)

I tried a few other cars (Ford GT, Alfa 155) just to see but I can't get close to my Zonda time so I'm done till the next event...I almost always struggle on Road events as it generally needs a lot more precision than I can manage...dirt I am better at as it is less precise

I spent half an hour on this last night but got frustrated as no matter which car I was in I was a good second or more off the pace. Best I think I did was 0.6 behind, so gave up, it wasn't going to happen lol. I might get chance over the weekend, providing I'm driving a little better :)

I managed to improve by about 0.05 last night. I got the tricky last section perfect so, even though my start can be improved on, I’ll struggle to beat that. Will try a couple of other MC12 tunes tonight just to see if there is one obviously better but I doubt I’ll go much quicker in this car.

For the Alfa 155 I was using Nalak28's tune btw if that helps.

I haven't tried again since the other day. I just tried quickly now and it looks like I should be able to go a little quicker if I put my mind to it.

I tried the 155 the other night when I went through a few, I think it was Nalak's tune I had. And i definitely *should* be able to go quicker as it's very scrappy in places, but putting my mind to it is clearly a problem!

Great success... I just went 0.001 quicker! 😂

Ooh and a tenth on the next run.

Four tenths on the next run. Still not optimal but I will leave it there for now!

Switched to the Zonda and improved to 1.29.2. I’ve ran a one rewind dirty 1.28.9 so there is a bit more pace there.

Current leaderboard:

Jezza - 1.28.906 (Zonda)
PABO- 1.29.540 (Monaco KC)
FN - 1.30.044 (155)
Smoke - 1.30.574 (Zonda)
Nurse - 1.31.592 (Zonda)
Odessa - 1.31.675 (MC12)

I didn’t check who else had a time previously, so if anyone else wants a time included let me know.

Edited as I found a 28.9 in the Zonda. Only 0.17 off the fastest time in that car and I can see how that’s beatable as getting that left hander at the bottom of the hill is so tough (and my run doesn’t get it perfect).

Yeah that one’s tough, and when it DOES go right I tend to catch a wall or something a little further on. Anyway, I’ve closed the gap to FN by a couple of tenths in the 155 but still struggling to put a consistent lap together.

Edit: I’ve slowly been chipping away at the gap, getting it down to 0.122 then 0.046, then finally things synced up and finishing tonight with 1:29.590 - 0.455 ahead of FN. I think it could take a few weeks for that to happen again so guessing I’m finished… until FN beats me again of course 😂

Congrats, I tried again yesterday and couldn't match my own time and didn't see how I could beat it, so there's no way I'm finding another half a second!

Here’s a clip of a 29.2 in the 155 against FN’s ghost:

https://xboxclips.co/dor...7-4d35-a88a-0e7d9bb74e20

There’s a few minor mistakes in there and I was quite conservative at the end but might be of some help in working out where you might be able to gain a bit more time.

Thanks Jezza, you make it look easy! I will see if I can improve.

I can get a decent lead over my ghost out of the village. It's the subsequent corners I have more of a problem with, I can't do them consistently well. It's a fine line between going too fast or slow. I expect if I ran enough runs I would get it, even if by the law of averages.

If I could get into the 1.29s I would be quite happy. Only need to improve a tiny bit for that.

edit - just got within 0.02 of my time. I still can't see me making any significant improvements like you and Smoke have though. I don't think I'm doing anything different to you as such, you're just more precise. It is possible I will get lucky though.

edit 2 - done 1:29.866 next run.

1:29.750 now. I nearly beat you Smoke on the previous run but I just clipped that wall on the left near the end, trying to turn slightly too early. I think I can probably do it now.

1:29.683... one tenth away.

And 1:29.481.

I found following JumpyArdvark's ghost made it easier, less pressure to keep up.
