Ah, I forgot limiting yourself to A and S1 Road/Street means that Manual is the best option. Interesting!

I lost 6 points for the loss to the League 3 above I could do little about. I then gained 8 points for beating a higher ranked GM and a League 2 in the same lobby after a fairly brutal 5 races. Gaining points is hard!

Edit - my results in the X country event above were 1st, 4th, 1st, 6th and 1st. Didn’t even roll in either Freeroam - I even knew where I was going in the first one! I’m just really not very good at them. Fortunately for me, the points were spread out quite a lot so my losses on FRR weren’t critical in the end.

Do you use the NSX for wet races FN? Just tried it for Autumn, as there were two power courses, having not used it for ages. It was sliding all over the place. Might just be the dirt tyres tune I use but it must be significantly slower than the Dodge or ATS in those conditions.

Yes I use it for all seasons and conditions (except winter which I skip). It does need a bit of care but I'm used to it and I haven't found anything that I can personally go faster in. I'm using tune S1 Ranked v1.0 by Rocklxd.

I suspect Rocklxd’s is probably more Wet Weather friendly than the tune I use. He seems to specialise in dirt/wet/snow tunes.

I’ve finally recovered the points I lost when my gameplay went weird yesterday. New high of 4780 after a couple of tough wins. Think I’ll sit tight for a while this time!

I haven't had quite such a good day sadly, I was +49 yesterday overall. Today I'm -6. Would have won a skilled S1 lobby just earlier but got rammed off on the final straight of the last race. I only needed to finish 3rd to win the adventure but ended up finishing the race 6th, and 2nd overall. +0. Then tried an S2 road (summer), won, but low ranked opponents so +0. Just as well as I really do suck at S2 (relatively).

After all this time, this dumb game is still randomly turning traction control on when I dont use any damn assists. Just cost me the overall win cause it doesnt allow you over-rev. Absolutely annoying
Forza junkie since FM2. Horizons are the break I need from the track

Just had that same S1 adventure as yesterday, autumn, Bamburgh, Lakehurst and Horizon sprint. I entered it with a heavy heart as so much comes down to RNG start positions etc.

The lobby had one other league 3 player (ranked a slightly lower number), the rest were all blue ranks. So it was a de facto 1-on-1 as it so often seems to be. He started 1st, in an ATS, me 7th. He won by 1.3s, with a fastest lap 0.1s quicker than me.

Lakehurst, I started 2nd, him 5th. I won by the skin of my teeth holding him off, though he was faster, 59.4 vs 59.8 laps.

Horizon sprint he started ahead of me but he made a tiny misjudgement, I got past and won. I got +11, I checked the leaderboard and he got -9 even though he wiped the floor with everyone lower than him and only lost to a slightly higher ranked player. So unfair! I feel bad even when I win games like this tbh.

Yeah, the points are so weird. As mentioned, I had one yesterday when I beat a GM (higher ranked than me), League 2 and various League 6s and 7s. I got +8 points. In your example, you beat a League 3 and players ranked 11 downwards and got +11. How does the game work out that your result is worth more? Very hard to follow.

I spent some time yesterday messing around in Team Adventure using FWD/RWD options. I’m fairly confident that I have options in A to S2 now that I could risk using if the right selection of power tracks come up. Ghosting through two CCGTs who were going flat out on the straight at Cotswold in a RWD McLaren F1 GT was quite entertaining especially as both tried to block/side swipe me. I’m going to have another attack at the Marathon WR in Rayne’s Peugeot tonight as I’m fairly confident I’ll be a lot quicker than my currrent 3rd place time.

Is there any way I can improve my odds of winning when I get bad starting positions? I'm getting fed up with losing loads of points this way. I just had an A class street adventure where I came 2nd to a league 5, ahead of some green ranks. But got -8 points. I came 2nd to him in the first race because of the RNG, won the 2nd, came close 2nd in the final race too (Highland Charge in heavy rain) because of bad RNG. I just ALT+F4'd the game after that.

(never mind... I know it's a silly question. What can you do except drive as fast as possible and hope they make a mistake or whatever.)

For anyone looking for other A class options, I used the Pulsar yesterday for one wet and one winter (but without actual snow) Team Adventure road event. The winter event was Broadway, Ambleside and Greendale and the opposition was a high ranked team all in Atomic Punks. My team also had several good drivers in less meta cars.

I finished 2nd Broadway, 1st Ambleside and 2nd Greendale. I’m fairly sure I was quicker than the Punk which won races 1 and 3 but couldn’t quite catch them having started near the back. I demolished everyone by several seconds at Ambleside. Worth trying particularly for circuits. If anyone wants it, message me and I’ll tell you the tune I used - can’t recall off hand.

As you’ll have gathered from some of my equally frustrated posts on this issue, I don’t see that there is. You can try and use cars that have great launch where possible (maybe risk the drag tyres Roadster for example as opposed to the Nova FE on some damp tracks). However, ultimately, if you are using well matched cars and someone is within a second or so of your skill level, starting position is going to be key.

I suspect the fact FFA was a bit of an add on probably plays a part in there not being a better grid system. There must be a way of programming so that everyone has near identical average start positions over the three races at least. Reverse grids would also be a good option. The current totally random approach just doesn’t work.

On this occasion the other player had a Roadster and I was in the Nova FE. Still, I caught him up as he was a bit slower, but couldn't get past on that track. I had to overtake Novas and Atomic Punks to get up to him and wasted the best overtaking places to do that, so by the time we got to the final long straights I could only hope he made a mistake, and he didn't.

In Forza Motorsport the FFA gives the grid position from the previous race IIRC, so why Horizon doesn't adopt the same method is a mystery. It would be a simple and good if not perfect solution compared to the situation now where you can literally start last in all three and the opponent you must beat can start in first. (Haven't quite had one like that yet, but a few not far off.)

I started a dirt event recently last, 1st, last, 2nd, last. As you can appreciate, I was super-thrilled with getting good grid positions on the Freeroam Rush events - especially as at least one of them required an immediate 180.

Those freeroam rushes where it points you the wrong way and leaves you disorientated are extremely irritating for sure.

I just tried an event type I usually shun, out of frustration at so much waiting. Took an S1 street winter... bad idea. Terrible start positions, finished 6th, lost 27 points. Ouch. (Was a pretty skilled lobby, gold and green ranks.)

The NSX, which wasn't very suitable, but the opposition was pretty good and I doubt I'd have done significantly better in any case. I'm not too clued up on what the best S1 winter car would be, I have a Ford GT and Viper '08 with winter tyres, maybe the latter would have done better. I am going to have to expand my events outside of my comfort zone if I want to progress because I'm barely getting one suitable lobby per hour otherwise. It can even take a few hours. Another thing about winter street is I sometimes fail to see quite where the road is, when it's heavy snow all over. The flares and the driving line can get lost in the snow as well a bit. So it's not ideal.

edit - got another S1 winter lobby straight away, tried the Viper, it's on rails compared to the NSX in winter. Won but only a weakish lobby so got +3. Will have to see if it's fast enough against better opposition. Also the three tracks weren't very snowy unlike the ones earlier. But it looks promising.

Yeah, I wouldn’t have thought the NSX would be that good. Ford GT is a very good winter car with the right tune. I’d imagine the Viper must be decent given how grippy it is but not sure I’ve ever really tried it. Cayman and Mustang DD are popular choices as well.

Just done an S1 winter road in a Ford GT which I also won but a league 7 player in a Viper 08 was quicker through the corners. The Ford didn't handle any better than the NSX particularly, at least with rocklxd's ranked v1.44 tune (it has winter tyres but doesn't specifically say it's tuned for winter).

Can someone explain how it is possible to WIN a team adventure (2-0 for us) and get -7 (that's MINUS 7) points, then get the Adventure Won 5000 points ?
How can you lose points by winning ?

This must be a new low for FH4.

I’ve tried Rocklxd’s GT05 tune before in snow and it’s not great in Winter. Have you seen Sprungboss has created a winter tune in the last few days?

Did 4 FFA adventures yesterday:
medium ranked lobby - won 4/5 - result +1
low ranked lobby + few unranked - won 3/3 - result +0
medium + low + unranked - won 5/5 - result +0
medium ranked (9 or higher) - won 1/3 - did big mistake in first race (back end lost grip in CCGT), so finished 5th in that race and 3rd in adventure - result -12

I'm happy that I lost only -12 for being 3rd, but I'm still not happy.
Before next try on FFA I should do some unranked S2 races, because it was too quick for me.

To clarify lobby: low=rank 20-12, medium=rank 11-6, high=5 and higher

PS. Also did few team adventures. Improved my score by +3 points from two adventures. First positive points since a long time.
