Forza Week in Review 3-22-19
Brian Ekberg
Friday, March 22, 2019
https://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/wir_3_22_19

PTG FOX STOP-MOTION ANIMATION
  • "Let’s start with something pure and joyful in this edition of the Forza Week in Review. In practically every WIR story we celebrate the great work of the Forza community in one way or another. Whether it’s showing off photo contest winners, or talking about great collaborations like the recent #TeamAkane tribute from the PTG team, there’s always great stuff happening. But in my time here at Forza, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this: a miniature stop-motion masterpiece featuring the Forza livery tool and the masterful abilities of creator PTG FOX. If you haven’t already seen it, check this out: https://youtu.be/2pihYMvNzdg A month-and-a-half of work, 656 screenshots on Xbox, approximately 43,000 layers in the livery tool… and he wrote and performed the music as well! Congratulations to PTG FOX on a newly minted Forza community classic!"

AUTUMN SEASONAL CONTENT - discussion thread
  • "Fall is here in Forza Horizon 4, which means a new mix of events to make your way through in the game. Open up the Festival Playlist and you can see everything that’s available to you this week (along with the winter and spring seasons yet to come in Series 7). Between the Crash N’ Splash weekly #Forzathon challenge where it’s all about Extreme Offroad action, and the ongoing Season and Series completion challenges, there’s something for everyone. In the Autumn Season, there are two new cars available to pick up, including Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s #25 RTR Mustang as well as the 1965 Pontiac GTO."

FESTIVAL PLAYLIST UPDATE - discussion thread
  • "A word about completion percentages for these Season and Series reward cars. After listening to community feedback, Playground is currently testing an update that will lower the completion percentage from 100 percent to 80 percent. The 50 percent completion percentage will stay the same for rewards but the updated completion requirements will back date. So, for example, if you got 83 percent completion in the summer season, you would receive the Porsche 914/6. Look for this change to surface in the game as early as next week."

CONTENT UPDATE - Release Notes
  • "Also, earlier this week, Playground Games issued a server-side fix that addressed issues affecting Quickplay Online Adventures, where players were disconnected at the end of an adventure before getting their rewards."

#FORZAFRIDAY
  • "If you missed last week’s edition of #ForzaFriday you missed a great conversation with Forza Motorsport design director Chris Esaki. Today we’ve got another fun Turn 10 guest lined up – senior developer Mike Grodin, who will be making his first appearance on Forza streams. We’ll be chatting about Mike’s role at Turn 10 and playing Forza Motorsport 7 with viewers, so make sure you’re around to get in on the conversation, ask questions, and join in on the racing fun. It all begins at 3 p.m. Pacific on the Forza Mixer and Twitch channels."

STREAMING SCHEDULE
  • "Before we head out for the weekend, here’s a look at what’s upcoming next week on the Forza channels, including the debut of our new Sunday show featuring our very own Co Pilot, who will be taking viewers along on her journey towards "git gud" status in Forza. The adventure begins with "Sunday Suffering," debuting on Sunday, March 31!"

This week we’ve got news on events in Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7, the latest qualifier for the Le Mans eSports series, and a brand-new streaming show debuting this weekend on the Forza channels. Ready, set, Review!

FESTIVAL PLAYLIST
  • "The Winter season has returned in Forza Horizon 4. That means a new Festival Playlist full of new events to take on in the game. Eagle-eyed players will notice that the Season and Series Reward requirements has been lowered from 100 percent to 80 percent after an update to the game this week from Playground Games."
  • "That same update also fixed some credit exploits related to using the Route Blueprint feature, among other changes. See the full Release Notes over on the Forza Support site for more."
  • "Last week, Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s RTR drift car was the Autumn season reward – but if you missed it, fear not! This week, we’ve got Chelsea DeNofa’s #88 RTR Formula Drift car on offer as the 50 percent Winter season reward. That’s alongside the Hudson Hornet, which players can earn for completing 80 percent of the Festival Playlist events."

STREAMING UPDATES
  • "Today we’re welcoming Kristina Rothe (GT: Drawing Curtain) to #ForzaFriday for the first time. Kristina has been with Turn 10 for a few years now and just recently joined the Community Team as producer. I’m overjoyed to add her expertise and passion for community to the team as we plan great things ahead for the Forza community. On today’s show we’ll be talking about Kristina’s career and the various Forza features she’s worked on during here time here at Turn 10 and, of course, we’ll be playing Forza with all of you as well!"
  • "Elsewhere in the streaming world, our own Co Pilot is kicking off a brand-new show on the Forza channels this weekend. “Sunday Suffering” premiers on Sunday, March 31; here’s more about the show from the host herself: ... #SundaySuffering will be every Sunday at noon Pacific (8 p.m. BST) – 2 p.m. Pacific (10 p.m. BST) on the official Mixer and Twitch channels! Forza Horizon 4 | Series 8 Update
John Schommer
Tuesday, April 9, 2019
www.forzamotorsport.net/news/fh4_series_8

Quote:
The Series 8 Update for Forza Horizon 4 arrives this week with the addition of the Barrett-Jackson Car Pack, awesome new events and adventures as well as the drift camera feature recently released in Forza Motorsport 7. Take a look at the breakdown of incredible rewards cars like the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and see what is in store for you.

Online Adventure Changes
Here is a good look at what has been included in the Online Adventure Championships update.
· S2 Class has been removed from Dirt Racing Championships.
· B Class has been added to Dirt Racing Championships.
· Freeroam Rush events have been removed from all Asphalt and Street Race Championships.
· Collisions are disabled for the first 30 seconds of each race. This change also applies to Horizon Life PvP races.

Drift Adventure
An all-new Online Adventure game mode! Take part in three-race Drift Championships, where it’s not about how fast you can drive, it’s about how well you can drift! Points are scored on asphalt only and are based on the angle and speed of your drift. You’ll have time to complete a few laps in each event, so don’t worry if you mess up the start, you still have every chance to win as only your best lap’s score goes up on the leaderboard. Drift Adventure is available in both Quick Play and Ranked and can be accessed from the Online Adventure tab in the Pause Menu. Earning a rank in Drift Adventure will check-off the Online Adventure requirement for Festival Playlist.

Drift Camera
If you like to show off your style and grace while getting sideways the Drift Camera will be a welcome addition. You can enable it in the HUD and Gameplay settings and view pans in your direction of travel in the cockpit view. Check out the new settings while you explore the Drift Adventure.

Barrett-Jackson Cars
The Barrett-Jackson Car Pack is available for separate purchase and is included as a free add-on for players who own the Forza Horizon 4 Car Pass. The vehicles of the Barrett-Jackson Car Pack are a veritable “who’s who” of collectible automobiles from decades past. From the hand-built 1932 Ford Custom Double Down to the sleek, race-ready 1963 Shelby Monaco King Cobra, these cars have been desired by drivers around the world since their introduction to Forza Motorsport 7 and now is your chance to experience them in Forza Horizon 4. For an in depth look at these amazing vehicles, you can read about them in the story that announced their arrival to Forza 7.

Showcase Remix
Take on the Horizon Motocross team in a off-road ready 1958 Austin-Healy Sprite Mk1. There is really nothing like it in the real world. Check it out for a limited-time only after you have completed the regular Festival Showcase.

Series 8 Reward Cars
Through the seasons of Series 8 you can earn each of these cars, and the Easter Bunny suit, by completing 50% and 80% of the Festival Playlist. Have a look at each car in detail and what it takes to earn it.

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Forza Edition (Festival Playlist 50%)
2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (Festival Playlist 80%)
2018 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (Summer Season 50%)
1969 Hot Wheels Twin Mill (Summer Season 80%)
2012 Ferrari 599XX Evolution (Autumn Season 50%)
2011 Hot Wheels Bone Shaker (Autumn Season 80%)
1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport 396 (Winter Season 50%)
2016 W Motors Lykan HyperSport (Winter Season 80%)
2009 Vauxhall Corsa VXR (Spring Season 50%)

And don’t forget the awesome Easter Bunny Suit (Spring Season 80%)

Welcome to another edition of the Forza Week in Review, where we’re coming off the back of a huge episode of Forza Monthly. Airing this past Monday, the April episode welcomed special guests from both Turn 10 and Playground Games, as well as professional drift driver, Formula D competitor, and Nürburgring drift-conqueror Vaughn Gittin Jr. to the show.

DRIFTING THE RING
  • video: Vaughn Gittin Jr., King of the Ring
  • "You can see a brand-new edit of Gittin’s King of the Ring video above; a video that will no doubt inspire other Forza 7 players to try and emulate the feat in the game. In fact, one such creation already exists, produced by the inimitable Don Joewon Song, who didn’t just manage to drift the Ring, he created a video based on a single run of the Ring. There’s no long introduction needed here; watch Don’s “Virtual King of the Ring” video for yourself:

CONTENT UPDATE
  • "This week Playground Games launched a new update for Forza Horizon 4. This update removed the Car Pass Welcome Back screen and fixed an issue where the “Fred V & Grafix – Sunrise” song was no longer appearing in the Hospital Records radio station. This update also fixed an issue with ranked Drift Adventure series rewards UI to show progress and rewards earned. As always you can keep up to date with the latest updates to Forza Horizon 4 and other Forza games by heading over to the Support section here on FM.net."

AUTUMN CONTENT
  • "Autumn season has arrived, bringing new fun in the Festival Playlist and new cars to earn along the way. Specifically, this season we’ve got the 2012 Ferrari 599XX Evolution (50% season completion) and the 1967 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL (80% season completion). For Series completionists, the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Forza Edition (50% Festival Playlist) and the 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (80% Festival Playlist) are also up for grabs."

FORZA STREET & FORZA MONTHLY
  • "On Monday we launched Forza Street, a new expression of Forza available on Windows 10 devices and coming to iOS and Android. For more on the game, check out the segment on Monday’s episode of Forza Monthly where I sat down with the Forza Street design director Andy Beaudoin to talk about the game. (Fast forward to the 56:00 mark to see the conversation.) Forza Street was created to welcome a new audience of players and has been developed as a Forza product from the very beginning by Turn 10 alongside an external partner. In 2018, the game was released in limited regions for early testing and feedback under the code name of “Miami Street” prior to its global launch. To keep up to date with the latest Forza Street news, you can follow the Forza Street Facebook page."

FORZA FRIDAY & LIVESTREAM SCHEDULE
  • "On today’s episode of #ForzaFriday I’ll be joined today by Chase Combs from the Turn 10 audio team. Chase was on Monday’s Forza Monthly this week to talk about the audio improvements that were part of the April update for Forza Motorsport 7 and, during today’s show, we’ll dive deeper into those improvements and talk about Chase’s career in the gaming industry and here at Turn 10. The show begins at 3 p.m. Pacific on our Mixer and Twitch channels, so don’t miss it."
  • "Wrapping up the week, here’s a look at the streams coming to the Forza channels next week. See you then!"

Xbox is excited to announce “Visit Xbox,” a campaign that celebrates virtual travel and a new kind of tourism, exploring the beauty of gaming beyond traditional gameplay.

Showcasing Xbox One X Enhanced games which have been updated or built specifically to take advantage of the world’s most powerful console the campaign encourages gamers to wander off-piste and take in the spectacular scenery on offer.

Michael Flatt, Gaming Integrated Marketing at Xbox said, “With ‘Visit Xbox’ we want to inspire everyone to become a gaming tourist and explore breathtaking Xbox One X Enhanced worlds. Our campaign offers destinations from the past, present, and future; on this world and beyond. Together with the Xbox community, we will continue to find, curate, and capture the most beautiful locations in games.”

You can check out the “Visit Xbox” website on Xbox.com, which features some of our favourite locations shot by in-game photographers and lets gaming tourists find their next destination – whether you want to visit a rustic village or relax on a paradise-like beach.

On April 26, Xbox and Turn 10 will also be hosting live guided tours of Forza Horizon 4 on Mixer. Check out www.xbox.com/visitxbox for more details.

Quote:
Welcome to the Forza Week in Review, where we’re getting ready for the next updates in both Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7, as well as prepping for the next edition of “Forza Monthly.” All of these various efforts arrive on Tuesday, May 7, which obviously makes that a busy day in the world of Forza. Tuesday will be here before you know it, so let’s recap this week and focus on what we’re excited about next week.

SPRING CONTENT - discussion
  • "With just a week left to go in Series 8, it’s your final chance to grab the Alfa Giulia Forza Edition (50% series completion) and the Ford Crown Vic (80% series completion). The season rewards feature the 2009 Vauxhall Corsa (50% season completion) and the Rabbit Outfit (80% season completion). This season in the #Forzathon Shop, you can spend those hard-earned #Forzathon points on the 2013 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG, the 2011 Koenigsegg Agera, and more."

#FORZAFRIDAY
  • "We’ll be welcoming Turn 10’s Carlos Sanchez to today’s edition of #ForzaFriday. As executive producer for Turn 10’s Publishing team, Carlos brings a wealth of experience from his career in games to T10. Today we’ll be chatting with Carlos about his career, his work at Turn 10 and with Playground Games, all while hanging out and playing Forza Horizon 4 with viewers. The show starts at 3 p.m. Pacific so bring your questions and enjoy the show!"

SERIES 9 UPDATE - discussion
  • "The Series 9 update for Forza Horizon 4 comes next week and Playground Games will be celebrating the launch with a live broadcast from PG HQ, starting at 10 a.m. Pacific. Make sure you tune in for the show on the Forza Mixer and Twitch channels and get ready for jam-packed hour of news and fun with the PG crew."

FORZA MONTHLY | MAY - discussion
  • "Tuesday, May 7 is the day for our next broadcast of “Forza Monthly” and we’ve got a great show planned for you. Airing directly after the Series 9 Stream from Playground Games, we’ll be diving deep into topics from all over the Forza universe. We’ll be joined by members of the Turn 10 publishing team to talk about the Series 9 update for Forza Horizon 4, followed by a look at what’s happening in Forza Motorsport 7 with members of the Forza Race Regulations dev team. In addition, we’ll be diving into “process of concept” at Turn 10 with design director Chris Esaki and art director Scott Lee, giving viewers insight into how the Motorsport team approaches the all-important “concept” phase of development."
