Great Britain is the big island - it consists of the countries Scotland, England and Wales.
Ireland is the smaller island to the west of Great Britain - it consists of the countries the Rupublic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The British Isles are both of the above plus various smaller islands (Isle of Man, Western Isles, Channel Islands etc).
The United Kingdom is a political union. It consists of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Island, and some of the smaller islands.

Some quick points addressing some of the more ridiculous things I've seen in these forums in the last couple of days:
There is a long, historic and thriving car culture in the British Isles.
There are mountains, hills, lakes, forests and all sorts of lovely geographical features in the British Isles. It's a beautiful place.
Driving on the left is not "wrong", it's just different from many other countries.
The above countries are not interchangeable - a Scotsman isn't English, England isn't Wales, Welsh people aren't Irish. Seriously, it's as wrong as calling Americans Canadian, Belgians French, or New Zealanders Australian.

Thank you for your time. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

(Oh, and before someone starts grasping for other stereotypes - our teeth are fine, thanks. Really.)

In other news, I'm a clown and posted this in the FM7 forum instead of the FH4 forum. Little help please, mods?
I'll get me coat.

I'm used to RHD in FH3 so the transition should be smooth.

However... you guys still drive on the wrong side of the road! (just kidding)

Anyway, better the UK than Japan, especially if Turn 10 hasn't sorted out Toyota's situation yet. And the McLaren Senna is a VASTLY superior cover car to the Supra, no question. :D
May the forced induction be with you.

Just make sure you are aware of whether you are in your gaming room or on a real road ;)

From my point of view video games have had it wrong for years. It's great that FH3 and 4 have finally got it right.
I blame the ants.

No worries, my real car doesn't work 99% of the time so it is mostly gaming room driving on the left side of the road for me. 😄

The idea of driving on the right side of the road came about in olden days of horse drawn carriages .....and may be attributed to Napoleon...who was left handed.....search on the inter web thingummy and see the truth (if there is such a thing).

If you are right handed, as most people are...it makes more sense to drive on the left so that you can give more accurate ...ahem...hand signals..out of the window to oncoming traffic ha ha ha!

Thanks napoleon. Or... merci beaucoup!

Nah, wiki. I did realise you were being sarcastic, the list was aimed at the people who think that the world revolves around them personally :)

Just about anywhere near the seaside given all those retired drivers who can't see or use a clutch without burning it out!

Proper looking forward to this. Some amazing roads and scenery over here. Although I think it's weird the traditional London taxi (FX4) isn't the cover star. Here's hoping there's a Routemaster to race in!

London, Savoy Court (Savoy Hotel) which is part private but has the regulation that it is OK to do what the rest of the UK do not do.

United Kingdom and not as far as we know Northern Island or any of the associated islands that make up the British Isles!

Countryside in FH4 looks more like Lake District / Scotland to me, all the better as those areas are easily the most stunning in Britain. Excited!

Just another point that people have been commenting on with respect to winter. The entirety of the UK is not covered in snow for most of the winter. Frankly, it's not even that cold in many parts of England in the winter. Wet, yes, but blizzard mountain levels of snowy cold throughout the U.K., not really. Hopefully, since the devs are from the U.K. and they have asserted that the seasons will have their own variation, winter should give good variety across the map.

T

Northern Ireland isn't a country strictly speaking, more an administrative province. But they do drive on the left and have some wonderful scenery and beer.
This diagram helps explain the rather perplexing definition of the United Kingdom.

Certainly not going to get cold enough to freeze lakes, haha. But heck, I'll go with it. We're in a pseudo-arcade racer and they're allowed to exaggerate.

Can't wait to drive the UK in a game. There have been others, GTA London (2D top down version!), and another set in London that I can't remember the name of now.

What are the areas we've seen so far? Certainly Edinburgh is there with the Scott Memorial and Edinburgh Castle in the background.

There are a few scenes that look like the Lake District but there might also be the Pennines in some scenes, that would split the map to east and west.

Any clues on the aqueduct? Could be just about anywhere but I wondered if the architecture is taken from a specific location.

The lighthouse could be just about anywhere as well but possibly that area is the north-east with the castle modelled on Bamburgh.

No idea on the city centre scene.

I wonder if they'll position things in their approximate locations i.e. Edinburgh top-right, it would just be wrong otherwise.

So is it going to be an accurate map of an area of the UK or more of a composite map with UK like locations?

Fictional map with heavy influences - the quarry in the trailer is from a real slate quarry in Wales, Princes Street in Edinburgh looks pretty accurate, but the map will be a similar size as FH3 and cover all parts of Great Britain, so will obviously be fictional.
