Leagues overview www.forzamotorsport.net/news/wir_12_1_17
Quote:
Forza Motorsport 7 Leagues are organized along scheduled timelines called Seasons. Each League Season will typically be four weeks in duration and each Season will be comprised of four week-long Series. Series are made up of Events – traditional multiplayer race lobbies – that operate under specific rules and use a variety of vehicles, from specific make and model races, to events based around division or class.

Leagues in Forza 7 will organize players along five skill Bands – from “Grassroots” all the way up to “Pinnacle.” Each Band will contain five Ranks – “5” being the lowest and “1” being the highest Rank within a particular Band. Players can move up (or down) in Rank and earn promotion (or demotion) between Bands by earning League Points in races. Players will always know which Band they are in and their current Rank by consulting the main Leagues screen in the game. Here’s an example:

As you can see, the Leagues home screen gives the player a lot of information. On the left side, you’ll see information on the current Season and Series, as well as the current active Events (note that there can be multiple Events open during a particular Series). You’ll also see information on what rewards you can earn for participating in a Series and for participating in the over-arching Season.

On the right side of the screen is information about you, including your current Band and Rank, the number of League Points you have earned in your current Rank, and the total League Points you need to earn to move to the next Rank. As mentioned earlier, you can move between Ranks and Bands. For instance, a Rank 5 player in Grassroots Band might move through to Rank 1 in the Grassroots Band; with enough points, that player could be promoted to the next Band (where she would start at Rank 5 in the new Band). Also, players can move down in both Rank and Band, depending on their performance in Events. That’s where scoring comes into play.

Scoring
After each League race, you’ll earn League Points that will increase (or decrease) your total League Points score. Scoring is calculated across three different areas: Finish Position, Starting Position, and Opponent Skill. As the names imply, Finish and Starting Position award points based on where you start and where you finish, and are scaled by the number of players that you start a race with. If players drop out mid-race, you’ll be awarded the points based on the number of players who were on the grid at the start. In addition, as a further deterrent to players dropping from races early, players who leave a race early will receive a last place (read: negative) points payout.

With Opponent Skill scoring, points are awarded to the player based on their Trueskill ranking (a behind-the-scenes rating number) as compared to the rest of the lobby. If a player’s rating is lower than average of the lobby, he’ll receive more points for higher race finishes than he would if his rating was at the average or higher than the average of the lobby.

Matchmaking
We heard loud and clear from League players in Forza 6, who complained about the lack of full lobbies in the upper echelon skill tiers. With Forza 7, each of the Bands will include a higher population of players per Band. By breaking players up into multiple Ranks within those Bands, we’re able to allow more people in, but also settle in to the skill level that is right for them. In terms of Matchmaking, players will first be matched to players in a similar Band and Rank, with players from adjacent Ranks sometimes filling in the gaps.

Rewards
As you can see, Leagues in Forza Motorsport 7 are designed to bring great racing to players of all skill levels. What I’m most excited about is the ways we can reward League players. It starts with credit rewards. Every day you log into Leagues and finish an Event, you’ll be awarded with a daily credit gift. You’ll also earn a credit bonus for your first podium finish of the day. If you’re promoted to another Rank, that’s another credit bonus and, should you move between Bands after an event, you’ll get an even bigger credit bonus. In fact, the higher you go up the Bands, the more credits you can earn for promotion.

It’s not just credits. As you can see from the screen above, we’ll be able to gift League players with awesome rewards, including exclusive cars, player badges, and Driver Gear.

Well, darn. I read the reward for Series 1 too quickly and thought it said 2012 Dodge Charger SRT (one of the 2 cars I have been most looking forward to in this game). I am happy to see the SRT Challenger and will continue to hope that the Charger makes it to a League Series or Forzathon event soon. (Hopefully not as a prize for a bounty hunter event... unless it is the participation award).

I see the UI has changed a little.

I like that the Division/Car name is specified in the Event List; easier to see at a glance what you'll be racing.

Wasn't Alpha Gear the first Driver Gear we all got? Or did I get lucky on a level up reward for that one?

As demonstrated by the HLR hot lap event, the Mazda Cosmo is the car to have in the Ghost league... I just can't keep up with them in the 2002, even when I'm more consistent than the drivers in the Cosmo.

This Mazda is weak on the straights but straight line speed is almost useless in this game anyway, especially when the rotation includes shorter tracks only and the Cosmo is able to keep momentum in tracks like Bernese Alps.

The problem I have with this situation is that this division was supposed to be a four-way battle between Alfa vs BMW vs Ford RS1600 vs 2000GT-R with an RX-3 thrown in for good measure, but it's ruled by an intruder like the Cosmo with very little actual racing history and the fun favorites don't seem to be very good.
May the forced induction be with you.

Im actually looking forward to the ghost race. I havent had a chance to try out a few cars I made for it. I know the cosmo is the frontrunner so I didnt want to run one of those., so I already accept not being at the front. The category has so many neat cars that I want to try out. I want to get some good laps in before the next weeks uninteresting formula E ghosts that Im not planning on spending more than a race or two in.

My pet peeves are that the Escort Mk2 is in it as opposed to Showroom Rally and the Capri RS3100 is in it too as opposed to Vintage Sport Coupe, but most of the cars in this division are pretty cool and actually raced together back in the 60s and early 70s, even the Cosmo, though when the Cosmo was introduced there was no balance rule for rotaries since they were still fresh.

For some reason the track rotation for the current sim league is set at sequential and not random, meaning that it goes through every variant for every track in order. So once you get to VIR or Yas you're pretty much doing 5+ races in a row on that track. This has to be a mistake and hopefully will not happen again with future leagues.

Please have someone review these leagues before they go live, T10, because it seems like every week there's a mistake with at least one league that goes unnoticed.

I found the VW Karmann Ghia to be a fun alternative to the Cosmo. It doesn't have the pace of course, but it's close enough to give most others a good run for their money.

The way I built the cars, they all handle somewhat similarly. Interestingly, the Datsun 510 does not have a good top speed even while more powerful than others, and it has the skinniest tires. The heavier cars are somewhat brutes but they tend to have the most top speed as well.

Alfa GTA seems well sorted IMO, and it dominated all the other cars in the actual historic events so it should be that good.

I've noticed there are people using aero even in D class. I've found it slightly exaggerated to do so, though some of these cars appeciate the high speed stability.

Yeah,I thought I was going mad the first time this happened. At least I got to race Bathurst this time around, which is what I was hoping for after running every ribbon of Yas Marina,BUT it came AFTER Bernese Alps.

Who the hell is setting this up and how does BE come before BA?

I would not consider this to be a bad thing.

It is perfect for anyone working on the World Traveler achievement.

Just do one race in any of the 3 current options - Ghost is probably simplest obviously.

You don't need to win or anything like that. Then come back next Sunday and the car will be gifted to you.

I assumed that, once you get to rank 1 in Pinnacle, you can't get the 500k credit reward when you get demoted to rank 2 and then promoted again. However, today I received 500k credits when promoted, but not when I repeated the process.

Can you only receive credits for a specific promotion once per day? I'll try again tomorrow, this could be a very good money earner if I can learn the circumstances where I can repeatedly earn the credits.

Why did you change the Ghost league opeing and closing times
Before is was like 12pm Eastern to 6pm Eastern with 2 hours between reopening. Now its 12pm-4pm Eastern with 4hrs between reopening. Just why??? Me and my British friends are not happy with this. Prime hours, what are you doing? Just leave them all open all the time or tell us why you cannot do that. Pick a time and stick with it. Keeps changing. UGH
