The most interesting Bounty Hunter so far (due to car/track combination) and I won't be able to win the top prize because of me broken right hand. Whoop de doo

Obviously others idea of fun differs wildly from mine.

Underpowered, bad-handling box on too much track. Banked a clean lap to make sure I get the Escort, and that's me done here!

Slightly weird set up this month, doesn't the bounty usually have a time on the boards when it launches?

That 2:21 mentioned in the first post is a either worrying or confusing lol.

I've just run a few laps and 2:24.794 is my current PB.

Seems a little odd in this sort of challenge to have a field of different class cars as well - odd but it does allow for some clean running once you let the quick cars by and get past the slow cars - you find yourself just on an empty track for some laps at least.

Not complaining just somewhat different to how I remember these passing challenges working in the past. Just need Johniwanna to set a time now, to see how steep a hill I have to climb or how safe I can feel (relatively).

Have fun all

Cheers

I´m poor skilled @Mugello, marking a clean 2:27;703 at first attempt (4 laps, no assists except automatic). Just tried to keep it clean. More practice and risk will lead to 2 things: Many dirty laps when missing the curbs and otherwise an imporovement of maybe 4 seconds when hitting the curbs well. So I think at the end I will mark a clean 2:23:xxx - hope it will be strong enough to beat johnniwanna. Actual #1 times are 2:20:xxx

Am I missing something? What is the point of the traffic?

By the 2nd lap, the A class cars are outta sight and the E's are safely in your dust and we're just hotlapping unimpeded anyway....?

That was set in a upgraded car. This event was originally intended to be tuned to the top of C class but changed at the last minute to stock only.

So I am confused. The original post was edited to say it was a 'stock only' event but the actual event shows the car is eligible tuned to the top of C class and the same post mentions a current time set that way (top of C class). I can't test because the car is not available for purchase in the store - don't want to waste time trying to beat a time that is non achievable in a car I can't buy and make competitive.

If you read through the thread, some of it may become clearer - I believe he set a time in a c-class tuned fiesta no traffic to let folks get an idea about the pace he can run on the track without traffic.

At some point after that - communication filtered through to him/ the guys setting up the event gave him a nudge and advised him it was stock only, so he revised some of the first post accordingly.

Not sure if he had set a time already in his tuned car but now it's ineligible for inclusion on the leaderboards - hence him not having a time set just yet - but that would be my best guess.

If they cooperate, I had a doofus AI in a Lancer banging on my rear bumper for two laps. He even clanged off me when I pulled all the way over and stopped. Brilliant.

Currently @2:28.4 clean which is 3/4ths second slower than the one with the Lancer hitting me. Clean Laps! Yay!

johniwanna's best lap for today is 2:28.835. It looks like a lot of us have work to do in getting our lap time down enough.

02:25.894 so far.

I found if you forget they are higher powered cars and leave the grid in a similar fashion to a 3 legged racehorse leaving the gates and try to compete you push yourself more and get a better time. Give em nothing!! Lap 4 on that little straight before the last sweeping bend I stopped to the left to let a Porsche and a few of the higher end cars through so there was no chance of copping a dirty lap next run and they all stopped behind me. Even the ones to the right pull up and sat there until I rolled off slowly. It added 13-15 seconds to the lap. Don't know if it is just me but the AI seems pretty civil in this event and more strategic in its passing etc.
Usually hanging out at position 12 so you will need to look in your rearview mirror to see me.

I was hoping this event would allow tuning as initially planned, as I’m sure people would have created some good setups for that car that could then be used in C-Class Hoppers.

Alas it was not to be and has killed any interest I had in this event. I don’t need the cars and I can’t sell them anyways so no point in grabbing them for people that miss out.

Oh well, have fun everyone; I wish you all the best of luck in beating John’s time.

John, it doesn't matter if you're faster or slower with the wheel - STAY WITH IT!!!

It drives me up a wall when people buy a wheel and stop using it because of their slower times. It's almost like they expect to make up for the lost time overnight.

It's taken me 5+ years to get to the level I'm at with a wheel and I'm still improving. It's not about lap times, in my head its the simulation that matters and the fun that comes with it.

ran 3 laps. got 2:24.6 so far. that will probably be good enough, but I know I can hit the 2:23's if I have to. (P.S. so glad its stock and not tuned.)

To the most extent I totally agree it's like a hot lap but ......... as another player noted they were tagged by AI I was also blasted by a faster class car that was unmarked with the orange opponent dot on the map ....... actually I had a couple cars in the upper class that almost seemed to have spawned on the straight behind me on lap 2 and 3 ....... completely undetected on the map as they blazed in behind me from nowhere-land and raced away still undetected on the map with one of them blasting into my rear

EDIT ***** Ran a 2.23.1 ....... the AI I described above are two runaway AI they scorch the track on lap 1 and pass me on lap 2 and 3 then I can run solo for up to 5 more laps ....... tho hard to imagine that an E class Isetta is outrunning all but 2 cars even down the front straight on lap 1 ...... pretty funny actually

As much as I enjoyed the track and car combo better for Phil's bounty I still find this one interesting. Just a small mistake can cause a much bigger penalty in that you really can't make up time as quickly. Really have to carry your speed. I won't put in as many laps as I did with the Porsche but I'll put in some time here and there.

I also like the stock tunes. I get to focus more on the track and better approaches instead of wondering if that next rival has a better tune. I'm at 2:26:9 now. Really crazy seeing sub 2:20 times.

Really hoped for a C-Class-tune competition and theorycrafting tunes, but stock is fine too I guess. The Fiesta rolls less than I expected and feels surprisingly good. Managed a clean 2:22:6 after I started cutting those corners and staying in 3rd for the most time (sorry engine for overreving you all the time). Should be enough for some time :)

Im really happy with the track, as its my favorite, and the slow car gives me a chance to practice shifting. I set my inital time of 2.28.1x with auto shifting, in the first 3 laps, and from now on ill drive manual with clutch. I drove a couple of practice laps and already came close to my time, but then the drivartars got in my way. Im positive tomorrow i will go down by a second or 2.

Good luck to everyone

The traffic is pointless. After the 1st lap you are alone until like lap 7 or 8.

I like this track and car better than the last two bounty hunters. At first the traffic annoyed me but after doing about 24 laps today I think the other cars make it more of a challenge. I'm comfortable with my best time today (2:26:661 using a TMX wheel) but will try to improve it if the VW wins the prize car poll.

I like that the idea that this one was trying to be different. Not sure the plan has worked out ideally though. I experienced some of the same things others have....initial lap with some traffic but then a bunch of laps in a large window clear of traffic. Managed to set a mid to high 2:26 I think. I did find this event inadvertently emphasized some bad AI skills. In that first lap I caught and passed a Ferrari, Aston, WRX, Lancer and something else that were all stuck behind a 2CV. They just could not get past it. I could see the grouping of dots staying together gradually further and further behind me through my next couple laps. It wasn't until about lap 4 or 5 that the Ferrari and Aston finally passed me so I figure they all were stuck behind that 2CV for a couple laps. That has got to be some astoundingly bad AI driving skills to drive a Ferrari or Aston and not get past a 2CV on the straight of a track like Mugello. Just wish I had remembered to view and save the replay. Would have been good laughs. Was good fun though so will likely take more shots at this. Even if just to see how dumb the AI can manage to be.
