Maybe this should be posted on forums that have loot boxes that charge real money, and not on forums that don't. Pure poo stirring of an old, old subject that never actually happened.

It's still on topic and good to know.

We don't know, what plans T10 initially had with the crates, but good thing is, that those plans were never put into practice. For the sake on future titles of the franchise this thread here should still exist and be active.

All the "stirring" is the reason why there isn't any in FM7.

It appears that microtransactions are being forced by Microsoft. Halo 5 has the REQ Packs and Halo Wars 2 has the Blitz cards.

T10 had/may still have every intent to monetize, as stated and reported.
Its people like you who still defend garbage that facilitates said garbage. Garbage practice is garbage, monetize or not. Has no place in games, least of all forza.

People are not realizing that the Forza series has had microtransactions since Motorsport 4.

Turn 10 just hasn't had loot crates til recently.

You're right. FH3 has tokens.

And, make no mistake, with the way cars cost an arm and a leg over there, I'm sure at least some people may have bought the rare ones with tokens.

I was very annoyed at the unicorn issue in FH3, if anyone doubts me, they can search around. And I don't find it ideal to have locked cars in FM7 either, as it makes it very difficult for players to find and reports bugs in the locked cars themselves. It's the notion that the concept completely ruins the game itself that I'm not in agreement with.

It is a real issue. Its being legislated against - in multiple countries.

If your only justification that it isnt a problem is because it isnt monetized, then you're still 100% wrong.

The game is built around the entire mechanic from the beginning. its not just added in. ie: problem, issue.

Fossil fuels arent a problem as long as they arent burned.
Loot crates arent a problem as long as they arent monetized.

ESA: We can't go to the "lowest common denominator of government" on loot boxes

Position by Peter Naessens, director of the Belgian Gambling Commission & Rob Fahey
Quote:

the Dutch and Belgian rulings at least poses the threat of an EU-wide stance that could designate some implementations of loot boxes as gambling.
**
while a "European-wide common approach" is not a guarantee
**
"the similarity in the Dutch and Belgian rulings suggest that the outcomes in many other countries will be equally unfavourable."

ESA's Mike Gallagher's position/reply.

Quote:

"When you look at these other decisions, we can't go to the lowest common denominator of government around the world, and make that the standard the rest of the world has to live by, and limit the trajectory of the industry," he said.

Quote:

"Let's inform first, continue to self-regulate, and move ahead that way. It's worked great for us over the last 20 years. That's the prescription we should use going forward. There's additional things we can do, and we'll look at those over the course of time... But it's only been since April that we've implemented the change. We should give it a chance and see how it plays out."

My thoughts:

When your only rebuttal is to "self regulate" generally indicates a losing position.

If it is likely for more EU countries to follow suit, can your game survive in NA alone?
Is NA a big enough market to sustain a studio like T10?

Some implementations more than likely means those that people are being charged real money for, like the ones in Overwatch or Battlefront.

Forza doesn't have that, yet and may not ever after all of this is done.
Rules of troubleshooting:
1) Have you tried turning it off and on again?
2) Is your Internet working?
3) https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status < Check here for service issues.
4) If all else fails open a service ticket and/or forum post.

If Turn 10 can't monetise loot boxes I doubt they'll be included in future games.

May 9th 2018.
EA to continue offering loot boxes in a “transparent, fun, fair, balanced way”

May 28th.
Battlefield 5 Has No Loot Boxes
EA drops loot boxes from the upcoming PS4, Xbox One, and PC WW2 shooter.

To be honest, it was only a matter of time before loot boxes were gone. I doubt, other than whales, that developers were making much money off of them since the majority of them contain items that can be obtained during normal gameplay.

Battlefront II removing them and providing players with all the unlockables without using credits was a huge sign that loot boxes were on the way out. Now, if only T10 would do the same thing....

It's the beginning of the end.

And the beginning of going back to the old way of in-game feats or other progression methods to unlock these items.

Or a mix between that and more aesthetic DLC options similar to Assassin creed.

This thread has no use anymore, however, did anyone catch onto these 2 sentences from Alan?

"Due to the complexity of removing prize crates from the game "

Quote:

second, by completely removing cars from the prize crates in the game
