If they are aggressive, it's network related. You can try better buddies or improve your own.

If you are still struggling feel free to request a convoy. Easy with the right players. Not so if you keep getting duds!

Ok, wow. I have been out of the game for close to a week now. The fan burnt out in my unit and had to replace it. Missed out on getting the Pista so I am a little perturbed. Didn't get to finish playing with the Heavy Hitters also, so yeah.

I have been reading the comments and thinking, man, these guys (gender-neutral) are normally storming these events, should be something wicked. Finally got to get on yesterday and give it a shot.

Yeah, no lie. Made me think back to Buggy Bunnies or whatever that Easter buggy trial was. But in the buggy trial, there were no blatant obstacles to obliterate you. Nothing inside the race trail anyway. Got bounced out of gates by haybales (one was shot at me by another driver, took me right out of the gate) and that stupid tower/granary thing near the beginning of the Windmill run. This was treacherous. And the rain in the third race made me slide something wicked. The beginning is particularly brutal.

Now I pride myself on being able to do my own tunes and do well enough. No expert, but I can come up with some good combos from time to time. In Bunny Buggy, I needed you guys to get my Baja Buggy in shape. But this one I was determined to use what I got. Tuned a GRC Beetle, a Subaru Rally, and the Audi S1 Sport Quattro. The Beetle ran the best but didn't have enough top end. The Subaru was tough to control, and the Audi performed the best and seemed to be what I was going to tweak to try to take it. However, I also earned the RS200 Hoonigan so thought, ok, let's do this. My word...world's apart. Had to swap motors as it comes in already as an S2...but it ran fierce and like a champion. It was me and another blue trading for first until he bounced me out of a gate and I ended up in 8th. We lost the first race. Ended up winning the second with only four drivers still in. Then we took four of the top five positions in the third race. So I had a good team and a great car. I'm going to spend a little more time tonight tweaking it and making runs to see how much better I can get it.

It was insane, but still in my definition of fun. I find I like the CC more than most others here but yeah, there are definite AI abuses that can easily make it not as much fun. And as always, if you see me online, hit me up, I have everything else done, so I will happily join in another round to help out.

Edit: And yay! I have my Driver's License...lol

Not just you DRC I'm afraid:

This is on top of the 2406 regular wheel spins I also have, which I'll probably never use now.

I see your 2406 and raise it to 7353! I don't use them, no need, I have all the cars and unlimited CR

Thanks Ziperr and Jezza, Ziperr for helping me get through the trial this week, #16th try! And Jezza for including me, and Ziperr on some Team Adventures. I'll never be Grandmaster level, but it was interesting seeing that level of skill. Now back to Grinding out 20 Million credits on Forza Motorsport 4.

**Trial: "What's That Coming Over the Hill?" | Cross Country | (S1 900) Rally Monsters
**Car used: 1978 Hoonigan Ford Escort RS1800 (Autoshow 300,000 Cr)
**Tune: Autumn CC Trial / 108 419 236

There are two tunes for this car at S1 900 on my profile, they appear the same, they are not, although difference is minor (the other should work, but is harder to control for rainy cross country). This one is running max aero, and has very slightly more ground clearance (was helpful). ... AWD, turbo, Forza aero, rally tires

**Seasonal Playground Games | Railyard | (S1 900) Track Toys
**Car used:2014 BAC Mono (Autoshow 160,000 Cr)
**Tune: S1 Games Rail / 153 624 733

Easy to drive and fast car for games at the Railyard, great acceleration, very good grip. Tune is AWD, with rally tires.

PR Stunts:
- Hillside Speed Zone, 1978 Hoonigan Ford Escort RS1800 - 'S900 Rally Trial' (680 307 281)...,
- High Street Speed Trap, 2019 Rimac Concept Two - 'PR Stunt Rally' (120 633 544) ~ tune not required ...,
- Open-Cast Cliff Danger Sign, 2019 Rimac Concept Two - 'PR Stunt Rally' (120 633 544) ~ only a short run up is needed ...

Solo championships - Raced against Expert, Steering: Simulation, ABS: on, Traction/Stability; Off, Gearbox: Auto.

**Championship: "AWD All Day" | Cross Country | (A800) Extreme Offroad, AWD
**Car used: 1993 Toyota #1 T100 Baja Truck (Autoshow 500,000 Cr)
**Tune: A800 CC Offroad / 637 166 137

Good all round performer for this cross country event, fast with handling. Tune is AWD, engine swapped for 6.2L V8. The car turns wide at speed (loss of traction), bear this in my while entering corners at speed, otherwise very predicable driver.

**Championship: "Too Hot Hatch to Handle" | Dirt Racing | (C600) Retro Hot Hatch, 1990s
**Car used: 1992 VW Golf GTi 16V MK2 (Autoshow 20,000 Cr)
**Tune: C600 Dirt / 103 357 208

Sluggish and slow, but than again everything else here is too. A.I. should not be too much of an issue, note I race against 'expert', 'highly skilled' should be a breeze, higher difficulties I am unsure about. Only really problem track is the sprint course, on the uphill sections, although the A.I. struggle here too. Nice balance in the mudkickers' sections, no tendency to flip over at all. Tune is FWD, with rally tires.

**Championship: "Cool Cats" | Road Racing | (A800) Manufacturer: Jaguar
**Car used: 1959 Jaguar Mkii 3.8 (Autoshow 80,000 Cr)
**Tune: A800 Road / 133 159 822

Fairly simple win, no problems. It is amusing that of all the choices, my system (maybe across everyone, don't know) decided that the best handling and fastest choice was an SUV. While I subscribe to the general idea that the A.I. are not 'using' the car you see (just cosmetic) it still does not make the system using an SUV 'icon' as best handler (it was out cornering other Jaguars which have race pedigree) any less stupid. Tune, AWD, Forza rear air, turbo on original unswapped stock engine.

Enjoy.

So here it is, the best I can make it:

The Trial - Over the Hill
1986 Hoonigan Ford RS200 Evolution - Tune: 167 032 028
My Beetle was smooth but too slow. My Subaru was too skittish. My Audi seemed ok but tricky. But the RS200 is a beast. It's fast, stable, tons of grip, and can recover from obstacles and their antics. Ran it again tonight for fun. Even getting pushed out of a gate, I was able to climb back up into third. Took second in the third race following a rocket car...lol. The long jumps are still an issue because if you are off by even a little, you end up off to the side, but it recovers well enough to keep in it. I'll keep running it through the week if anyone needs a hand.

Playground Games
2009 Lotus 2-Eleven
Would love to share the tune, but the language filter kept triggering even when I left it blank. lol. Had this a lot in MS6 as well.
But anyway, Turbo Rally I4, AWD, rally setup. Quick, maneuverable, works great in close confines.

AWD All Day
Jeep Trailcat - Tune: 228 168 177
Didn't seem as spritely as it normally is, but this was the first race I had driven in close to a week, so. But took it easily. Stable, easy to drive, gets the job done.

Cool Cats
Jaguar XJ-S - AWD, race turbos, shocks, block, valves w/sport tires. Held well and ran true.

Hot Hatch
I don't remember what I ran. I tuned up a Scirocco but ended up not being able to use it (forgot about the year requirement) so I just ran something stock.

Speed Trap
Ran the Mosler. Forgot I still had it set up for the M68 speed trap challenge so it's all top end, but it worked out plenty fine.

Speed Zone
1973 AMC Gremlin X - Tune: 903 936 311
It's a kick. lol. A little slippery but it pulls well going uphill which helps it handle the turns better. Going downhill, that last turn is a trick, but you can powerslide through it, straighten up, and launch out the other side.

Danger Sign
1973 AMC Gremlin X - Tune 903 936 311
Found a neat little trick near the last part of the run-up: the path kicks to the left to go around a tree then back again. If you shoot for right between those two trees instead, it's a straight run to the jump. Did a personal best: 1163.6ft. Top 8% ...which got me looking at the top scores. What?!?!? 23,000 feet? Some are done with D100 cars? How does that even get in there?

Tried again at the Trial a handful of times since I last posted about it...and am still failing miserably!! Am now at failure 14 and counting. Having tried the normal RS200 (very quick and agil but a bit unstable but spins when it hits the river) and the Hoonigan Escort (very quick and very stable over uneven ground but spins if it even senses water in front)...finally settled on the Subaru....not as quick as either Ford but is incredible stable, smashes through most obstacles and has little issue with water, although has difficulty turning. With the Fords I could quite often win race 1 and 2 while being nowhere race 3...once I got used to the Subaru I managed to win all 3 races in one event (still lost overall though)

It just seems the Trial this week is 95% luck.....I was racing with people I know are good drivers (on a par or better than me) and they were nowhere. What's more bizarre is that a streamer I watch came into the final race at 1-1, lost the final race yet was still crowned championship winner!!! Very bizarre

How to win the current trial
  1. Do NOT bring a car tuned to 900. The lower you can go the more beatable the dravatars are on this set of courses. For car choice you want something stable and controllable, Honda Civic GRC is perfect.
  2. Slow down. Traction is an issue in wet cross country it is still quicker/safer to back off the speed and stay on the racing line than to slide around. Back off on jumps/bumps and make sure the car is settle before going full throttle. I'm spending an unusual amount of time on part throttle (with TC off) when normally I would be full in most cases
  3. Avoid water as much as you can. A lot of my fails came when I took too much water, particularly at the end of the third course and it sent my car off in the wrong direction.

I had almost given up on the trial after failing for a good dozen times or more but still managed it tonight. The first try with a Ford RS 200 I could hardly stay on the track most of the time, didn't get much better with the Hoonigan Escort, Opel Manta or even the Hoonigan RS 200 (in the end this car did the trick using waznewz' tune). Usually I'd say that all of these can be handled pretty well on actual dirt tracks, but it's somewhat exhausting on these offroad courses with lots of obstacles.
I then enabled traction and stability control just to see if that would make any difference and it is quite a big difference indeed, steering get's a lot more predictable. There's still some occasional spinning around, especially after some jumps, but it's mostly manageable. Track 2 was my personal nightmare for sure, even if I managed to drive OK for most of the race there would still be something stupid happening. The last big jump like 10% before the finish line has given me a few more white hairs for sure. And of course quite a few tries wasted by drivatars ramming me off the road, sudden disconnects, typical misguided team mates etc. etc.

Although having finished it I will certainly not keep this week's trial in fond memory. I absolutely don't think it was fun in any way, but your mileage may vary of course.

14, wow, just call for help here, there are veterans who can help you completing this trial. took me three attempts to find an acceptable team.

Concerning tune, you need to take a winter tune as normal tunes are usually built considering dry and more asphalt grip conditions.

That's said, putting rally cars on cross country races ... I prefer when it keeps to some logic.

Thank you both for the offers to help...luckily, at the 17th (yes SEVENTEEN!!!!!!) attempt, finally managed to crack it. We managed to win all 3 events despite the AI winning the 2nd and 3rd races. All of that for a car I already have lol

Thank you also for the advice regarding the tune Tilo....I had been using a tune someone tailor-made for the Scooby for this event, however, I found a Winter tune and it was certainly a lot more stable so made it easier to drive.

The Playground games event has been super annoying this week. Every time I'm on a team that actually wins the first couple of games the rest of the enemy team quits out and the game locks up, unable to complete the event.

Had 3 games so far where I've had to alt+F4 because of this.

You use to, then it would complete, yeah. Ever since the last patch it doesn't. Last game I left it running in the background for 30 minutes just to see and still no progress, it was stuck on the same screen. This was after I heard the countdown timer you get at the end of each event.

It's bad enough with the unequal teams and PI ratings, but now making it so the game won't finish if all your opponents quit out? It's a joke. Maybe if PG focused on fixing bugs rather then taking away wheelspins they might actually have a decent game.

Only played PGG once this week but that is what happened to me as well. Between the second and third games, just froze on a screen, me up against a train car, and stayed that way. Oddly, could see the steering wheel move when I turned, but nothing else.

It took approx 12 minutes. I had left, made a sandwich, heard the timer, etc. But eventually came back to the third round with no opponents. Launched the third round for 4 seconds before declaring us the winner. Got my 8 pts for it too! lol

@ betinhogvz - thanks for the tunes. I’d tried the RS200 one yesterday and it’s very good. Was curious about the Fiesta, so tried that in a trial earlier. Won the first two races but made a mess of the third. Nowhere near as quick as the RS200 but definitely worth trying if anyone fancies trying something different.

Probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I also tried Attax Johnson’s tune for the Lego Mini. The steering is a bit stiff but it’s very quick. Won the first two races in that and was on course to win the last one but got wobbly near the end and missed the checkpoint before the water. Again, worth a go. Also, won all three races with the M-Sport Fiesta (R e z o a k tune). None of these are as good as the Hoonigan RS200 but definitely good enough to be competitive at the trial.

Got Trial done on yesterday, took surprisingly many tries and I even needed to rework my S1 RS200 quite a bit.

In the end it was about memorising routes. I almost always won the first one but next two I had issues, as I don't do CC outside of Playlist events.

Tips:

First race is easy, more test of patience than anything else.

Second race. Take windmill jump via right line past, not through windmill. Watch out for haybales. For slow corners, brake early, easy to catch Drivatars there. There's is one blind left turn leading to ramp but unfortunately I didn't took notes about at which percentage of race length it is.

Third Race.
-It's easy to collide with your team mates, avoid that at all cost because there are lot's of obstacles Drivatars can get past without much of speed loss due design of CC, but human players can't making up lost time is difficult here.
- Again brake early on tighter curves, there's short tarmac section by side of mountain, time right and you can do that with full speed on most good tunes I guess
- There's one relatively tight left corner leading to even tighter right corner bit like S. 3rd gear if you are relatively close to stock ratios.
- wide checkpoint going uphill jump near the end of race, take it close or cutting the right flag as left side puts you in the "pocket" not aligned with following checkpoint
- for final jump, keeping the car stable is important to land on water and get best acceleration right after landing

One last advice:

We have been getting lot's of CC event's recently, despite negative feedback. Only thing left to do to get memo through appears to be just stopping contributing time to this garbage.

This might have been decent event with something A class, as jumps wouldn't put human players in pockets so easily and giving more reactivity opportunity to players. As it is, it's more about memorising the routes and knowing to anticipate tricks for different sections (being pro-active). For S1 there should have been 2 circuit races instead of just one.

It could be argued that PG appears to be taking advantage of Pandemic situation and isolation policies to beta test their weakest sauce with player base, as in current situation, what are players going to do. Well, playing some other game might be a good idea.
