Replace the old storage device with a faster one. (SSD recommended)
Or improve your storage management, by:
- Not filling up the storage device by too much. (20%+ free space desirable)
- (Applies to HDD only) Limiting the extent of data fragmentation on the storage device.
- Ensuring that no I/O intensive operation is going on on the storage device when playing the game.
Note: Even with proper storage management the game may still does not run well. (as it might not be designed to be stored on and ran from an HDD)
