Just shows the obscurity of my personal wishlist. None of the cars on my wishlist made it into the top 20.
The top 20 list is filled with people screaming about whatever new supercars are in the news at the time, meanwhile I had a ton of unique and interesting cars on my list.

I can understand that just showing a small portion of the overall requests looks biased toward modern cars. In fact, the model year distribution in wishlists closely matches that in FH4, which I think is far more diverse than any car game around. The game and lists typically break around 50% made after 2004 and 50% before. And consider that a user's list of even 500 cars would still cover less than 10% of all car models mentioned. And there are plenty of cars out there that haven't been mentioned in wishlists (<-this is not a challenge! Post what you like, but don't post the encyclopedia.)

Top requested cars made prior to the early the 1970s that would be new to Forza:

Still only 1 car from my personal top 20 on that list. Though my list does include plenty of cars from 80s and 90s.

I'm glad they don't choose cars solely off the wishlists threads because there are a ton of amazing vehicles we otherwise wouldn't have in Forza. Also the fact that sometimes a cool car is released and everyone on the forums says they want it when a better version is on the way. IMO the 488 Pista and the new 850i are really cool cars but the F8 Tributo is already here and the M8 right around the corner, much better to just wait for those instead. Again just my opinion.

Are you sure people want 2012 Model S and not the 2016 restyled version?

Interesting list (and the favorite cars kind of boring - almost only S1/S2 stuff which I think we had already enough). I didn't take part of the car wish list thread, so I cannot really judge anyone, but I would prefer some cars which complete some classes of already in game cars.

For example the Meyers Manx could get some competitor by the Mini Moke or the Citroen Mehari. The Willy's Jeep by the Volkswagen 181 or the DKW Mungo. The Ford Transit and Volkswagen Type 2 with the Opel/Vauxhall Bedford Blitz or the Citroen Type H.

There are also so many great manufactors out there, which are already in the game but quite underrepresented I think - Fiat, Lancia, Maserati, Citroen, Peugeot, Renault. Not to mention the many car manufactorers who went insolvent through the sixties like Borgward, Panhard and all the others.

Sorry for OT...

Respectfully, if Toyota is currently unwilling to agree to a licensing agreement for the inclusion of their product lines into the Horizon series, why are they included in these player request lists? Seeing the number of Toyota requests for X, Y, and Z and their respective ranking does anyone little good if there's close to zero chance of Toyota returning. There are approximately 7 Toyota request lines in the list above; it seems to me that omitting Toyota all together and disclosing the next seven on the list that actually have a shot to join Horizon, whatever they may be, would be of greater good and more useful than including items that won't be anything more than list filler, at least for the foreseeable future.

At any rate, seeing this data is very interesting and greatly appreciated! 👌🏻

If I didn't include the requests for Toyota then the community wouldn't be able to see where those requests fall relative to the others. In the past, manufacturers that weren't in the game at launch have shown up later, and since nobody actually knows the corporate reasoning or negotiations going on, I don't think it's clear enough to say 'we won't get this so don't ask for it.' I'm counting pretty much everything including requests for tanks and lunar rovers.

Okay. I was under the impression that Toyota was *not* happening, by choice, and potentially for future installments of the franchise, thus rendering players seeing how those requests stacked up as moot and a waste of your time. But if there’s still a chance for an agreement, great. I’d really like my Celica back! (But not before my Pacer X 😰)

August 2019 stats update

It's been three months since the last revision so it's time for an update to the most requested cars in the FH4 Car Wishlists thread. These numbers are current as of post #3300 (August 17th). Since the last info update in May the thread has grown by 700 posts and 6,600 requests, an average of just under 10 cars per post.

The game roster has grown by 16 cars through Series Updates 10-12 for a total of 70 free cars added since launch, and a roster of 641 cars including Pre-Order DLC and Forza Edition models.

At the time the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera was added in Series 12 it was in the top 20 of the most requested cars, appearing in 86 user lists since the thread first began. Here are the other recent additions ordered by frequency of requests:

86 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera 2019-current
55 Mercedes G-Class G63 AMG 6x6 2013-2015

- 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Deberti Design (The Fast & Furious Edition from FH2 appears in 9 lists)
- 2018 Top Gear Track-tor

With those models crossed off, the new Top 100 most requested models appear in 34 or more user lists (which actually breaks at 103 cars). Interest in the Huracan Performante remains steady, appearing in 7% of user lists. 63 of the 103 listed below would be new to the Forza franchise, 59 are from European manufacturers, and 50 are current models. I currently count over 3,400 models or general body types that have been requested by two or more users. To recap, my method is to define a model by its generation/facelift, body type, and performance level (base/performance/track-oriented/offroad/race spec/custom); I generally group requests for different drivetrains and powerplant options within the same model name when those variations don't significantly change the nature of the car. For instance, if one user were to request the Mercedes-Benz X200 (petrol) and another user were to request the X250d (the diesel model in the game) I would count that as two user requests for the "2018-current X-Class" instead of 1 request each for different models. This helps prevent the stats being skewed by single users who request every option version of the same car, or endless models with only one request each.

If you see any designations that are incorrect or don't make sense please point them out. In some cases it's a bit out of my hands; most users requesting the Tesla models don't include a model year, which is why I group them as "2012-current" despite the more recent facelift.

A final reminder: this is only an analysis of user requests and is in no way an indication of likely future additions to the game. As has been detailed in the past and in recent Playground Games livestreams, user wish lists are not the only factor in determining which licensed content is ultimately added to the game.

November 2019 stats update

It's been three months since the last revision so it's time for another update to the most requested cars in the FH4 Car Wishlists thread.

To recap what I'm doing, this ongoing tally is one method of building a coherent sense of the community's interests and to mark the cars that have been added to the game. Remember that the forums are one portion of Forza's global community, and that wishlists are just one factor of many that determine which cars come into the game. To get these numbers I only count requests from the pinned thread in this forum (not from individual posts or Twitter etc); I'm trying to be careful about not counting duplicate requests; and I typically group models by generation/body/performance to avoid getting lost among similar trim levels.

These numbers are current as of post #4025 (November 17th) and the cars announced with the Series 16 content update. Since the last info update in August (post #3300) the wishlist thread has grown by 725 posts with 7,900 requests, an average of just under 11 cars per post. That average continues to reflect the 10-12 cars requested per user over the last year; some users request just one car while other lists run into the dozens or hundreds.

The game roster has grown by 18 cars from Series Updates 13-16. Some of these cars have been the most requested in the thread, including the McLaren 600LT Coupe (among the top 10 as of August), the Bugatti Divo (3rd most requested in August, now #7), and with Series 16, the Ferrari 488 Pista, which became the 2nd most requested car earlier this year.

SERIES 13-16 CAR ADDITIONS

Below is a list of the cars recently added to the game with the number of users who requested them through November.
215 Ferrari 488 Pista 2018-current
170 Bugatti Divo 2019-current
116 McLaren 600LT Coupe 2018-current
29 Lamborghini Diablo GTR 1999-1999
26 BMW 3-Series (E92) M3 GTS 2010-2010
24 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 2018-current
16 Koenigsegg CCGT 2008-2008
15 McLaren 720S Spider 2019-current
14 Italdesign Zerouno 2017-current
12 Rossion Q1 2010-current
8 Volkswagen #94 Volkswagen Motorsport I.D R Pikes Peak
7 Porsche 906 Carrera 6 1966-1966
5 Ferrari 512 S 1970-1971
3 Porsche 917 LH 1970-1970
2 Porsche Macan Turbo 2019-current
2 ATS GT 2018-current
- Ford F-150 Prerunner Deberti Design Truck 2018
- Porsche #46 356 SL Gmund Coupe 1951

Another important reminder is to recognize how diverse the community is, reflected by the overall requests. I count nearly 7,000 different models or types of cars mentioned at least once the thread, of which 4,250 were requested by two or more users.

TOYOTA IS BACK

With the Series 16 announcement also came the news that Toyota cars are returning to Forza starting with Series 17. At the time of this posting we only know about the Supra '98 coming in December. THE NEW TOP 100

With the recent game additions checked off, the new Top 100 most requested models appear in 43 or more user lists (August's 34-or-more list now reaches 172 models). 63% of the top models would be new to the Forza franchise. The Huracan Performante continues to be the most requested car, appearing in 7% of user lists. And its big brother, the Aventador SVJ, also appears near the top. Be sure to tune in to the Forza Racing Championship 2019 Invitational Series Finals this weekend as Lamborghini is the featured partner and the Huracan EVO will be part of the livestream.^

Any significant change on the "Top requested cars made prior to the early 1970s that would be new to Forza" front, Manteo?

It seems to me the developers tend to care for older vehicles far, far more than this wishlist thread (my posts included, guilty as charged), given that out of 18 cars that they've added since Series 13, 5 predate the 21st century and 4 are from 1970 or before. Not to mention the Supra RZ and other usual suspects from Toyota which are from the 20th century too.

Another interesting observation is that we're getting cars such as Pista, Divo and 600LT, and conceivably Supra RZ and Performante in a very near future, which have been requested by 100 people or more, but every other car was requested by far far fewer people. Notice the jump between 116 requests for the 600LT and the 29 for the Diablo GTR. Even Toyota models other than the MkIV and MkV Supra haven't reached 100 requests, not even the Lexus LFA.

Excellent work as usual.

There is a FAQ about this, but still an interesting fact, we will have an ATS GT (requested by 2) earlier than the top10 first Lamborghini, requested by 300 almost.

https://forums.forzamoto...eft-out-of-the-game.aspx

The priority is interesting, why do we have a car, what is super unknown, requested by 0 almost, instead of a car, what is more popular, have more requests, etc.

Still would be so good to know about future plans or possibilities about the upcoming cars. Something, because sometimes it feels like it's a big gamble before every stream, what will we have, will it be good, will we like it, do we want it, etc.

I don't think the devs believe that a car whit few requests is a good idea in a long term. Just makes the users more frustrated, or disappointed.

And honestly, I miss the car DLCs or packs so much. Would be so good to have them, for example brand specific packs, not for free of course. I would be happy with a Mercedes pack, with old and new cars also. Many great well known classics are missing. Timeline: 1972, 1990, 1998, and lots of new ones from the 2000's. But please, 28 years are missing from 72 to 90.

#TorbenTuesday turns the gamble in a puzzle game. The developers here, on Twitter and on the Discord will always keep their mouth sealed because of Non-Disclosure Agreements, but occasionally, the manufacturers will say on the official Instagram or other social media account that their car is definitely coming, or coming "hopefully soon" to FH4, it happened with the Apollo and Divo months before the day they finally came. Finally, and more rarely still, information on upcoming vehicles does leak out of the developers' own hands...

The single most important paragraph of the FAQ is:

There are quite a few cars in the community top 100 list that fall under this category, but we'll keep trying.

They say they need some 8 months to get a car from scanning to driving, but cars can and will come later than that. Case in point, the Performante is actually older than the Pista, but it will necessarily come later than the Ferrari.

Huracan Performante might be coming in the next update... for 1)there may be a pattern here (#3 on wishlist, Divo -> #2, Pista -> #1, Performante) 2) they recently added a mysterious LAM_HuracanP_18 to the game file(<BalancingItem Car="LAM_HuracanP_18" ID="3217" LastUpdate="2019/11/06 14:57:00" Head_EV="0" Tail_EV="3" Brake_EV="2" />). I wonder what that means...
Plus, there are much more interesting things in the game file. We can really dig it... :)

Hey Max, thank you a lot for the heads-up ! :)

The list are errorless, with of course one single exception I've come across the 4000+ models. Congratulations !

The Toyota Celica Gen 7 is not new to Forza and has been in the franchise since FM1 up to FM6 (although a stock model is preferred for ricing reasons)

The amount of effort you put in those masterlist and its analysis is huge. Do you think something like a Form/Survey/Poll with answer like to a datasheet can help you ? T10, MS and Xbox Games Studios have already done such things for game maps and feature request for example. Knowing what Microsoft do with its survey, they can provide you with such a tool.

February 2020 stats update

It's been three months since the last revision so it's time for another update to the most requested cars in the FH4 Car Wishlists thread.

These numbers are current as of post #4525 (February 9) and the cars announced with the Series 19 content update. Since the last info update in November (post #4025) the wishlist thread has grown by 500 posts with 4,900 requests, an average of just under 10 cars per post. Since the thread started, the average list per user has been steady at around 11 cars; I'm on line 47,815 of my spreadsheet which corresponds to 4346 unique users (which checks out given multiple posts by the same users and some not countable posts).

The game roster has grown by 17 cars from Series Updates 17, 18, and 19 to a game menu total of 677. Seven of the 17 have been in a previous Forza game. The Toyota Supra, Alpine A110, and Lexus LFA have been in the top 20 most requested cars, and Series 18 satisfied the community's long-running #1 request: the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. As of February the Performante had 314 requests, a rate of 1 out of every 14 user lists. Below is a list of the cars recently added to the game with the number of users who requested them through February.

SERIES 17-19 CAR ADDITIONS

314 Lamborghini Huracan Performante 2017-current
117 Toyota Supra RZ 1998-1998
112 Alpine A110 2017-current
109 Lexus LFA 2010-2010
68 Renault Megane IV R.S. 280 5dr 2016-current
64 Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 GT Apex 1985-1987
63 Renault Clio II Sport Clio V6 3dr 1999-2004
42 Rover SD1 Vitesse 1976-1986
27 Mercury Cougar Eliminator 1970-1970
7 Renault Megane R26.R 2008-2008
7 Aston Martin Vulcan AMR-Pro 2017-current
6 Renault Clio III RS 197 3dr 2002-2009
6 Ford Transit Supervan 3 1994-1994
4 Hummer H1 Open Top 2006-2006
3 LEGO Speed Champions Bugatti Chiron
1 Porsche 356 C Cabriolet Emory Special (Outlaw) 1964
- Renault Clio R.S. 16 Concept 2016

The method I'm using is to fit requested cars into models defined by manufacturer / model chassis generation / body type / performance trim. Using this format, and including unique race cars and customized versions, users have requested 7,000 different models currently not in FH4. In the past three months the most popular new models have been the Tesla Cybertruck and Ferrari Roma, requested by just under 10 users each. This puts them at rank range between 1160 to 1470 overall. The updated top 100 most requested cars have been requested by 46 or more users.

Along with number of requests, I've indicated whether the model has appeared in a previous Forza game or would be new to the franchise. I've continued tracking specific requests for the Huracan Evo separate from the Performante.

In addition to checking off the community's most requested car in the past three months, FH4 passes another significant milestone with Series 19:

While Forza Motorsport 7 claims the largest car roster at 836 (including 188 race cars), Forza Horizon 4 now has the largest roster of factory-spec models of all Forza games to date:

527 FH4 - 75 race spec
526 FM7 - 188 race spec
519 FM4 - 105 race spec
425 FH3 - 52 race spec
411 FM6 - 125 race spec
354 FM3
283 FH2
264 FM5
220 FM2
193 FH1
153 FM1

To get these numbers I've put all cars in Forza's history (1,777 cars) into a single spreadsheet and classified each as either: Factory/Production, Racing spec, Tuner (Deberti, Hoonigan, LEGO), Fantasy (Warthog, Chryslus, Quartz), Livery Duplicate (models with the same stats), or Upgraded (FE models). There's more interpretation going on here since I'm including offroad competition and non-road-legal track-only models in the race spec classification, but in any case the classification is the same for every game where the car appears. FH4 and FM7 share 60 race spec models, mostly in Extreme Track Toys, Classic / Vintage Racers, Extreme Offroad, Retro Rally and Rally Monsters, Offroad Buggies, and Trucks.

Normalizing manufacturers to FH4's roster, I count 157 different makes that have appeared in Forza's history. This includes associated makes such as HDT, HSV, and Holden, and SRT, Viper, and Dodge. FH4 features 120 different makes (including James Bond and LEGO Speed Champions separately), while FM7 featured 101 and FM4 featured 95. That just leaves 480 other makes remaining from the community's Car Wishlists thread.

New cars added with Update 20:

  • 2019 McLaren Speedtail (Summer Festival Playlist 50% completion)
  • 1933 Napier Napier-Railton (Autumn event reward)
  • 1969 Toyota 2000GT (Winter Festival Playlist 50% completion)

The McLaren and Napier are new to Forza, and the Toyota is returning from FM6 and previous games. As of this month, the McLaren Speedtail is among the top 25 most requested cars.
The new cars were profiled in the Series 20 livestream and announcement article:
