Opinions will vary on which car is best, all around. Pick a few that you like and tune them to get the most out of them. The tune is more important than the car. Different horses for different courses.

I would recommend most of the Aston Martins since most are low S1 class and already come with a 12 cylinder engine. They are a little bit expensive but worth the money.

I've made a lot of all round S1 class cars. I've made sure they're great before sharing if you'd like to look :) it's hard to say but I've made an all-round Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 '16, etc... they've seemed to be very nice, but not sure about the best S1 lol.

Torana HE works well in a lot of cases too. Alfa 33 Stradale and Guila TZ2 are good. S1 is one of the most diverse classes and literally every track favors something slightly different.

I don't know if there is only one best S1 class car. There are plenty that can be built and tuned to work in the dirt and on the street using one tune. I have shared plenty S1 tunes and my favorites are the Ferrari 458 and 488GTB. I still find new cars each week to tune for S1 class and I forgot about the free Tamo Racmo.

If the car can stay in S1 class with close to 900hp or more, it can be good everywhere if you have PI left for suspension and transmission. Tires and aero are not always needed to have a good all around S1 car. My fastest time on Goliath is in a 458 with no aero and I think it has the Liberty Walk kit installed. Almost every car I have built for S1 has worked well.

My go to is aTorana (HE)
Lots of accel descent topend pending on build and you get tires for a bit of extra grip as well. V8 roaring and power out some drifts as well.

For other power cars look down in b class LB and put some tires on and now you got a s class car.

Just built a Plymouth Prowler in S1 that has power and handling, also a Ford Mustang GT500 that is also competing for the top spot every time I drive it. It all comes down to your driving style and how you handle the car.

The best S1 car has to be the Maserati MC12 FE because you can Downgrade it from an S2 to an S1 for staggering numbers.
But don't take my word for it....
