OK, I'm fed up with this site. Considering Microsoft's resources, why is this site so dam slow, the search isn't great and page load performance is embarrassing.

I can say with 100% confidence that it's inexcusable. I used to work for a massive game company. I built an intranet site using Microsoft SharePoint which I suspect is what this is built on. That site was architected by one person (me) then customized by about 3 developers and had one product manager.

  • The site servers required 4 TB of storage for content and databases
  • The search index had over 400 million items
  • There were 2.3 million page hits per day
  • There were over 10,000 distinct users per day
  • The site always had over 1,000 active users
  • The site had load 24/7
  • It had community based forums far larger than this site used globally for all topics related to game/software development

If my platform was a modern Ferrari, this site is a Chrysler mini-van. This one functions, but barely.

Hire and invest in a software development team that can build a website for your customers that is trying to be as great as your game.
The gamer tag is accurate. It's how I've made a living for about 30 years, however I wish was racing cars instead. Sigh

Careful, truth is frowned upon on this site, but I agree.

I agree with all but this last bit. They deserve each other, the games, and the 1990s forum.

The site is pretty bad, but probably still works better than the game does.

FH4 works as intended for me, on PC, I think.

The site has good features, like quote, multi-quote.. and some broken features, like private messages that can't be deleted.

If you go to your profile, and click About, Statistics, or Last 10 Posts, all it does is snap scroll down the page to where those are. Meaning, if you click About, you can the About section, the Statistics section, and up to 3 recent posts if they were all smaller than a large paragraph.

Also there's the fact it loads slower than if I was on a 56k modem. That's the killer for me. The fact anyone who works around it at all, tolerates it, is some kind of miracle.
