I know how to get them, but I don't know why. Do they even do anything?

I don't mind the feature, but in FM7 the variety of badges is really poor (same badges, just different colours).
In older titles badges were like some knockoff version of achievements, that popped up, when you fulfilled some sort of goal/milestone. I liked that.

I loved some of the old Forza 4 badges.

There were some hard to obtain badges, like the forzatographer one (obtain at least 100 five star rating votes in one pic - if I remember correctly).

As they were some kind of "exclusive", they have the value to show the other players your achievements. They were tons of them, for completing distances on race tracks, and more. The unlocking thing was great.

Actually is just buy and use them. I would love the Forza 4 badge system returning in the game. The current designs look pretty generic and forgettable.

Yep the Forza 4 ones were very good and I enjoyed working towards getting some of the harder ones.

Now? They're all meaningless! Except the ones you get for Tiers, which you either get or you don't, as soon as you start the game. So I just use the Tier 11 one. All the others are completely generic and unimaginative.

All the obvious effort they put into the costumes... and yet the badges were a Friday afternoon job.

And now they are for sale in the Racer Shop. They are little more than stickers. But hey you can spend those hard earned credits on them now. They should be tied to achievements. If you complete a certain challenge you should get an achievement and if they want you give you a badge you earned to show of on your gamer tag/banner that is fine. It gives you some more bragging rights that way. Now it's just hey I bought a sticker.

I ended up buying them all... All 260 of them... I was assuming that doing so would be tied to an achievement or something, but NOPE!

What an extremely productive use of 369,200 credits THAT turned out to be...

If you bothered looking at the achievement list first you wouldnt have wasted your time and effort doing it
The achievement list has been there since before the game was released too

FM4 always comes up and with good reason. even the original badge system was better.

The only thing that resembles it now are those badges unlocked with your Forza level, the rest are just show.

Turn10 should either tie them to achievements, prizes for rival events, etc or just scrap them.

FM is just accumulated so much rubbish since FM4, Turn10 just need get back to it roots that made it so successful, ditch the rubbish (badges, costumes, SUV's, 4x4's, Dubai, Rio) to make room and budget for content that people have been asking for like Real Tracks, Race regulations, Better AI, Qualifying, Pit stops, Custom Championships, etc, etc.... back to being about Motorsport and Racing.

Question; Does anybody who made FM4 still work for Turn10, what happened ?

Country flags is the only category of badges that makes sense.... for those whose country flag is featured. Mine isn't. Would make too much sense to make it forced like in GRID Autosport and Gran Turismo, right? Kinda justifiable, considering that representing your country is part of any sport and FM is just a sand(sh#t)box /w no sport element. To be honest I'm tired of highlighting all the dumb features in this game, while the only good updates were Meetups and drift features.

Pointless tat. That's all it is.

Knowing that doesn't stop my OCD from insisting on buying them all though.
