New starter - Why can't I drive cars I've bought?

Conscious this is probably a really noob question.

I’m 24hrs into the game and I’m now tier 3 within my Car Collection. I have bought (with credits) a number of cars within tiers 1 2 and 3 in the Car Collection but when I go into free play I can only drive the cars that have been gifted to me via the Drivers Cup. Am I doing something wrong? How do I unlock the cars to drive?

In the pre race menu of free play you have to change the division (or class) for the car you want to drive first.
I’ve seen this question multiple times and for new players it’s not really intuitive to figure this out.

Alternatively, go to the garage and get into the car you want to drive before going to free play, then the game adjusts the division automatically
