So my computer specs is
I5 6600K 4.3 GHZ paired with a gtx 1080 at 144 HZ. Everything is maxed besides MXAA being 4x. When I’m racing I can get 70-80 fps and outside of racing, it can be around 80-90 and some areas and even drop to the 70s. It really seems to be under performing when I look at videos where people have just a 1070 and they’re getting 100+ fps or when people have 1080s and they have a 1440p monitor or 4k and they get really good fps. Any ideas?
Seems perfectly fine to me for the CPU you are using. What resolution are you playing at? I am assuming 1080p.
If so, your CPU is definitely bottle-necking your GPU. If you want higher fps at 1080p in games try investing in at least an i7 or Ryzen 7. At higher resolutions like 1440p and 4k the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti are more efficiently utilized as compared to 1080p where they are kind of wasted.
I remember when I had a GTX 1080 coupled with an i7 I was getting about 75 fps at 4k max settings settings. Never even bothered with 1080p and 1440p. Since you cannot reach 144 fps I would recommend playing the game at half refresh rate of 72 fps on your system for the most smooth experience.
Currently have a GTX 1080 Ti and don’t even care about monitoring my FPS anymore.
I think it depends on what settings they use and what area they currently in to get 100fps+. I have a 1070 and i only get 90+ or 100+ if i am far away from the jungle and surfers paradise and thats in normal free roam condition, not with 11 other drivers around with heavy tiresmokes =).
