I’m writing this to hopefully let someone who works on Forza, probably hear what they’ve heard a million times but I’m gonna say it anyway…
I’ve not played a Forza game in many years but most everything I was looking forward to is gone, most of that centering around the single-player campaign. The current homologation system pretty much kills the fun of upgrading and tuning cars; which, is about 90% of why I purchased the game. It’s the one killer feature not present, in any meaningful way, on PC or Xbox racing games (I play on PC these days) except for Forza… and until Forza 7.
Homologation kills much of the fun because as many folks have said you can’t take that Skyline, WRX, Escort, or whatever rocks your socks, and drive it throughout the campaign. You can’t even fackin’ race them in the campaign to be honest, that’s the most frustrating part of the game. It’s too restrictive on how I complete a race. You’ve literally built a system to do what I want it to, dangled it in front of me, and then locked down the entire game.
Also, the AI is pretty ruthless, even on normal mode, to the point it feels like a bug instead of a feature. Like why did this car decide to t-bone me through a corner and push me into a wall, and then not let up on the gas… (I was pinned, couldn’t move, had to restart race) [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]
Also the HUD is pretty bad, it’d be nice to have a map which was useful in scale or adjustable. [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]
My only final complaint is that the game doesn’t seem to have any truly absurd prototype cars like GT 6 did which really made the game fun. Having something that makes an F1 car feel like it’s slow is something I’ll never forget.
There’s a lot about the game that’s great. It looks beautiful, the variety of cars, tuning, and upgrade options are all on point. Please fix at some point.
