Automobile [au] Tuning Marketplace FAQ : READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING....

Welcome to the ForzaMotorsport.net Tuning Marketplace.

This is not designed to segregate the community, but to enable both Buyers and Sellers to distinguish between the Amazing Artwork and the Tuners.

    Q. What is a Tuned Car.

    A. I guess the true definition would be a car that has been upgraded, then tested and settings tuned to a certain style, Grip or Drift, and in most cases a certain track type.

These cars will usually be at or near the top of their class:

    D400
    C550
    B700
    A850
    S998
    U999
    R1
    R2
    R3
    R4

Any added upgrades will increase the PI of the car, however the Tune Settings applied to that car does NOT affect the PI.  This means that a well tuned B700 could quite easliy beat an untuned A850 or higher on the track.

    Q. I added every upgrade to my car....is it tuned?

    A. Simply, no. Its upgraded.  That said, there is still a place for it in this forum! Just be honest and say so. Remember : Upgraded is NOT Tuned

    Q. I can buy an xxxx car from my career for 7K stock, why is this tuner 500K?

    A. The stock cars are just that. Stock Parts. The tuners have added various upgraded parts to the cars, experimenting with different combinations to get the PI as high to the top of the class without going over.

They have then taken the car onto the test track for intense testing to ensure the car is getting the best out of those added upgrades:

Adjusting the Springs, the Gear Ratio, Front and Rear Downforce, Brake Pressure etc.  each tiny adjustment will affect the car, both positively and negatively. Again, there is a fine balance to get the car and the parts working together to achive the best ride and handling combination possible.

Then, once the car tune is complete , usually track(s) specific, a Paintjob is applied.  Most of the Tuners have uniques artwork on them, some are replica's of real race cars. All take time and effort to look great.

While these cars are about the Tune, its great to have a sweet looking ride on the track.

    Q. Why do I need to buy a tuned car, can't I just download the tune from the scoreboards...?

    A. Many of the tops racers don't upload their tunes... and also the tuning setup is laborious and time consuming if even you can download the tune... this way much of the work is done for you.  Plus you get the Livery, and can enjoy being a part of the community and the extra that brings... such as the GS Club 54

    Q. If your Car is "So Good", why is it not at the TOP of the Hot Lap Scoreboard?

    A. This is a good question that needs to be considered when Buying a Tuner.  A lot of the Hot Lap cars are great on the track with no traffic. What distinguishes a Good Tune from a Great Tune is one that will win you multiplayer Races.

Tuners will quite often quote a lap time and percentage of posted scores in the advertisment. If its not clear, It may be worth asking the question : Was that under Race conditions?

Even a top 2000 hot lap score, posted under racing conditions, will give you a serious advantage over the opponents in a multiplayer Race.

    Q. What is the difference between a Drift Tune and a Race Tune?

    A. Tuning for drifting is much different than tuning for racing, as a car that has been tuned to drift is going to react much differently than a car that is tuned to race.  Usually drift set-ups invovle a car that will oversteer under certain conditions.  This is a very general explanation, as many cars are capable of drifting with excessive understeer.  Driver preferences really come in to play when discussing drifting set-ups.

Usually tuning a car to have increased grip in the front, and decreased grip in the rear will allow the car to lose traction in the rear while maintaining a level of control in the front.  Generally speaking this is what many drifters do in order to create a drifting machine.  Changing the settings of the suspension and differential are two key aspects that can drastically change how a car behaves when it is sideways.

If you have any other questions about the Tuning Marketplace, please post them here.  We will endeavour to answer all queries and will add the relevant ones to the F.A.Q

    Thank you

Re: Tuning Marketplace FAQ : READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING....

i would just like to say, for me... its about time the tuners came around... i was quickly losing interest in the livery editor and such... until the popularity with tuning and unique racing liveries came around... imo, it made the game so much more fun again.

i was getting tired of all the "amazing artwork" floating around depicting everything from movies to women to cartoons, and selling for billions. it was much to hard, annoying, and expensive to get your hands on one of those cars. although i must admit, there were a select few who sold amazing art work for real cheap and met the demand.

i would like to thank the tuners community for keeping the prices reasonable, making enough cars to meet the demand, and for dishing out cars that are simply fun to drive.

    EDIT

i almost forgot... id like to also say thank you to Tango.
your celica was the first tuned car i bought... and needless to say, it was the car that changed it all for me and got me hooked on the tuners... so, thank you!

Re: Tuning Marketplace FAQ : READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING....

Yeah I didn't even know or think about tuning, then I saw Garage Setagaya tuned cars and how everyone was going crazy over them, so I decided I'd take a shot at getting some grip cars, so I bought a few, I believe one was from MR Rutherford, and the other was from you DOA Kappa Tango, it was that blue SAAB, right. I studied the way the cars acted on the track, looked at the tuning specs on them, then decided to give them a shot. Which had to be the best decision I've ever made in my FM2 carrer. Now everyone under the sun is tuning, which is fun competeing with other tuners and testing out their tunes to see how we differ in tuning style. I seriously reccommend getting into this buisness because of its high demand and popularity. If you are looking to make some money and are willing to take the time to pop out some amazing paintjobs and tunes. Please don't flame me for the comment about money cause I'm not saying that's why I tune cars, I tune them to give racers an advantage in races and to have fun while racing/driving the cars.

Re: Tuning Marketplace FAQ : READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING....

What I think is great about the tuners is the realistic prices we are seeing cars at.  Most of the cars also have a sweet paintjob on them - yet you rarely see a Tuned car from even the top tuners going for more than about 500 - 600k, most are far less than that.

I used to paint the Artwork cars and I sold limited edition. The artwork cars are amazing, but I think the value to drivers of the Tuners has been realised. Its great to have a beautifully painted car,but in races, its more important to have a car that gets the most out of itself, giving the driver that advantage, however small.

And as mentioned above, the tuners who cant paint themselves are teaming up with artists to throw a design on the ride : The best of both worlds. Now, for a pretty small amount of CR's you can buy a great tuner that looks great.

And just to confirm : Hadoq, is "Yamada Man", founder member of Garage Setagaya. I truely believe we have alot to thank him for..........

Dont you have to go to sleep soon? Someone mentioned work starting at 6 AM.

Anyways, I totally have to agree with what you are saying. Im loving the prices of these things, which is probably why they are in such high demand...

Re: Tuning Marketplace FAQ : READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING....

i agree, as ive said above... but i think i may have priced my first car a bit high... my next car i tune will be a lot lower in price,  seeing as im not a top tuner (yet)

Totally agree Kappa I have always tried to keep my cars reasonable, with the odd acception, for example the Ferrai pack 5 cars for 3,000,000 is pretty good value there tuned and painted.

I don't think people can complain about that, infact people pust be happy as we have sold 100 in 24Hrs

Great Question. I have asked Drift Team Project Blackjack's President, Side-FX to answer this one for you. He update the post the next time he is free.

Great faq.  Wow - this whole thing is really blowing up and growing into its own sub-community.
So much so, in fact, that Garage Setagaya now has its own website.
Thanks for taking the time to make the FAQ, Tango.

I'm sure it answers a lot of questions for many people.

wow, nice post, really I'm not sure if I deserve all this credit, of course I'm happy I apparently did some good to the community but I can hardly realize what it is. There are alot of great tuners around, of course I'm proud of what GS became, thanx to all who made it live while I was away, sellers, tuners, designers. I was surprised when I came back and see the whole forum section about tuners marketplace and all.

well, now there's some competition wich is good and it brings diversity on the track, that was my main purpose, cause I was sick of seeing all the folks with elise R and stuff.

anyway I wanted to thank you all for making this tuner section the way it is now, a nice marketplace with many competition.

Thanks man. I do know that if it wasnt you it would have been someone else Smile [:)].

Point is, The [Yamada Tuned] cars were the first tuners that people waited on the AH for.

Those threads that started [Yamada Tuned] were a magnet for all.

Re: Tuning Marketplace FAQ : READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING....

hehe it seems you're doing pretty good with your cars as well ^^ can't wait til I can try one out

I remember when I tried the first tuner car from someone else, it was that bada$$ C class civic and then I realized how good others can get at tuning, I'm still racing that civic everyday and it's a blast, one of my best C class cars along with the scion and the upcoming beetle (you guys are going to love that bug)

    my point here is:
I might have been the first, but that doesn't mean I'm the best, all I wanted here was diversity in multiplayer races I've seen FM1 with the crx and all and I just couldn't accept the same thing occuring on FM2. Thanx the devs they allowed any car to become competitive if one puts enough effort in tuning, of course there are "dominant" cars for each class but they also require rare skills to be driven at their limits so when it comes to the average gamer, it becomes more like one has to find the car that fits the driving style.

GS's purpose is to make/tune nice and enjoyable cars, just as you say it, it's not a matter of hotlaps, but more the pleasure you can get racing an uncommon car and winning the race online. I love it when there are high ranked people driving elise (I mostly play C class) or 206Rc, when you pull out an unknown car (scion, beetle, saab, altezza etc...) and beat the "dominant" at the end. That's where the fun is for me, that's why I kept tuning cars.

I'm not a very good racer myself, so I thought I'd get some advantage if I learn how to tune cars.

    QUESTION ABOUT SELLING TUNERS!

I was wondering if you could lock your tuning when selling a car.  I have not yet begun selling any tuned cars but I am wondering if you can lock others from seeing your tuning.  Please let me know if you have the answer.
