headset / microphone bleed questions / suggestion

So i have a full sim rig setup with the surround sound and subwoofer.  my rear speakers are mounted on the back of my seat about a foot and a half on either side of my head.  i really don't care for headphones for game sound and i use my microphone strictly for player communication.  i've tried a few headsets and they didn't seem to be worth the money.

anyone else here prefer the non-headphone game audio, because i'm looking for suggestions on a microphone that will allow me to use a decent volume on my stereo without mic bleed of game noise.  i'm not looking for miracles, and i don't expect to be able to use the same volume i do when i'm not using a mic or if i'm on single player stuff.  i have no interest in how the headset performs with game sounds, i just want to be able to hear other players well in addition to using my stereo.

    thanks in advance.

P.S.  i know i'm not the only one that tends to pick cars based on how they sound + have deleted fast cars because they sound like sewing machines!!

i think i'm going to put an on/off button on my wheel for when i talk.  seems like the obvious choice actually if you compare to what they do in real racing cars.

yo.  I have been in a lobby with you and I know what you are talkinig about.  I use the wireless xbox mic with my sound coming through the surround.  I can turn it pretty loud without it picking up the engine sounds.  It only covers one ear and I can still hear my speakers through it.

I'd try using true throat mic's, not the cheapo xbox 360 throat microphones. True throat microphones are transducers that pick up the vibration from your vocal chords and produce sound. Cheap throat mics are simply standard microphones that are mounted on a strap near your throat...which doesn't help background noise at all. I don't have experience using one of these for xbox live, but i've used a different one for motorcycles and karting. they work quite well if you can find a decent one.

For xbox, I use a Tritton Warhead 7.1 headset, which allows for totally wireless communication (not even a chat cable to the controller), but would really negate the use of your surround sound. I use a Fanatec CSR Elite (while a great wheel, has a completely useless communication port), so the Warhead 7.1 is really my only headset option for racing with it. I'm more than happy with my headset, but its a $300 unit, so not for everyone. Before the warhead 7.1 came out, i was using the Tritton Detonator headset, which is wired, but has a physical button for muting, and the sound quality is quite nice, for only $70.
