Official Road & Track Comp Discussion and Time Trial Thread

This thread is for the discussion about the Road & Track competitions we currently have going on this week.

We will update this thread with details on how to find the daily winners and we will be giving you a daily rundown on the action that is taking place in the Road & Track time trial.

Speaking of the Time Trial, this week will be giving away some special prizes for not only the best drivers but also for anyone who put a time on the leaderboard. If you want a chance to get yourself some cool prizes then here is how to enter the Road & Track Time Trial:

Navigate to the “Leaderboards” menu within the game, and scroll down to “Time Trial”. From there, scroll down to “Road & Track Time Trial” and press A to start race.  Set your best possible lap time!   The players with the fastest times posted on the leaderboard at the close of the Entry Period will win the prizes described below.

    PRIZING

One (1) First Place Prize awarded to the fastest time trial entry:
    • The opportunity to spend a day with R&T Magazine  Editors at their auto test rack in El Toro, CA.  Specific date to be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time.  Prize consists of track event only; the winner is solely responsible for arranging and paying for any travel and lodging to attend the event.  All participants will be required to execute a Road and Track experience Release of Liability and waiver form prior to program participation.
    • A Fanatec 911 Turbo S steering wheel.
    • A 1-year subscription to Road & Track magazine.
    • A Forza Motorsport 3 DLC pack download code

    Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $500)

Two (2) winners for the 2nd and 3rd fastest time trial entries will receive a prize package consisting of

    • A Fanatec 911 Turbo S steering wheel.
    • A 1-year subscription to Road & Track magazine.
    • A Forza Motorsport 3 DLC pack download code

    Approximate Retail Value (ARV $350)

Sixteen (16) winners for the 4th through 20th fastest time trial entries will receive:

    • One (1) Free download code for the next Forza Motorsport 3 DLC pack

    Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $5

Twenty (20) winners will be randomly selected from among the eligible entries received at the close of the entry period to win:

    • One (1) Free download code to the next Forza Motorsport 3 DLC pack.

    Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $5

    • One (1) winner will be randomly selected from among the eligible entries received at the close of the entry period to win:
    • One (1) Fanatec 911 Turbo S steering wheel.

    Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $300

Now before you go off and start running laps on Laguna Seca, make sure you read the official rules for the Road & Track Time Trial.

Also take some time to check out the rules for the Fantasy Cover, Photo Mode or Livery Design contests. When you are ready to submit to the contest of your choice, you can find the submission threads below:

Re: Official Road & Track Comp Discussion and Time Trial Thread

Because of the massive prizes involved and the pretty big list of rules, is this HLC going to be policed manually rather than just going by the Forza penalty system? Because in my opinion the first two, possibly three times currently should be excluded for corner cutting. The first two guys completely cut across the pit entrance at the start of the lap, and they both were pretty borderline on cutting the corkscrew. The guy in third completely cut the last corner.

I'm not going to be anywhere near the top so it doesn't affect me at all, but for a competition with a prize as big as this, I hope someone who can stick to the confines of the track wins. The game system may allow the cuts they make, but in the real world it wouldn't be allowed.

Unfortunately laps like those will probably stand, but then it's expected in arcade racers such as FM3....BC

Re: Official Road & Track Comp Discussion and Time Trial Thread

    Some questions,

    1. One entry per person, but can you enter more than one contest?

    2. In the Fantasy Cover contest, can an entry have a fantasy livery design on it? (movie design/superhero)

    3. In the Fantasy Cover contest, does the FM logo on the bottom left of the photo need to show?

    4. In the Livery Design contest, can we be creative with the Road&Track logo, like put a colored border around the white lettering?   or change the words on the template?

Hope this is the right place for this post

    Good Luck to all!

Re: Official Road & Track Comp Discussion and Time Trial Thread

I noticed 4 of the top ten times set in the Mini Time Trial don't have replays. Is that something that can be turned off in the game, or something else? I've seen it before, but this looks like a good place to ask.

    Nevermind

FM3 isn't a perfect sim, but isn't an arcade racer by miles. it's not perfect, but it is semi-realistic, and strides were made for it to be realistic, thus it is more a sim than arcade

    Update 4.19.10

Watching the ebb and flow of the Road & Track Time Trial over the weekend was pretty interesting; the names in the top 10 were changing almost by the hour. Just to give an example I pulled the leaderboard times for this time trial at around 10:15 this morning, by the time I had finished the graphic for the top ten, RSI RoTaX STiG had moved from 16th place into 10th.

Will update on the winners of the Editors Daily picks once the folks at Road & Track post the winners, stay tuned.

    Yes you can Big Smile

    No

    No

I would focus exclusively on the photo and the framing of that photo. Whats on the cover will no doubt change when the contest ends.

    T10

Great job on the Car Pack.  I may not have the Skills that the top guys have but the Mini was fun around Laguna.

Keep up the Excellent Work on the Car Packs.

question. there looks to be some suspect multitagging near the top of the time trial scoreboard has this been noted .

and will said times be removed , short of naming the gts here i dont think you need to be sherlock to spot suspect gamerscores to times .

So I guess that is a no then? Most of the current top ten cut several corners around the track. Huh?
