    Storefront Moderation Moronic.

    Good day.

I'm an up and coming FM3 Painter, an experienced graphic designer in the realm of reality, and I'm also quite pissed off. I make a beautiful marijuana leaf design, and I get put under review for it. Some of the painters who decide to upload to the storefront should be banned just for the low quality of their mediocre content. Now, I see in the "turn 10 terms of service" mumbo jumbo that pretty much limits all of the interesting graphic groups:

     "

Q: I received the following message while trying to access a feature in the game "Your gamertag has been banned from this feature. For more information about Xbox LIVE's terms and services agreement, please visit Forzamotorsport.net". What did I do wrong?

A: If you have received this message then you have been banned from a specific feature on Xbox LIVE. This can happen if you upload offensive materials to the Storefront/Auction House, or use exploits and cheats to better your lap times. If it is your first time ban it will most likely be temporary, however depending on your offence we reserve the right to permanently ban you from a given feature. The duration of your ban will be displayed in a message sent to your Forza Motorsport 3 “Message Center” which can be found by navigating to the “My Profile” section of the Forza 3 main menu.

Currently we are banning users who have created an item that contains any of the following elements:

    • Depictions of nudity and/or sexual themes and suggestions. This includes “censored” designs or items that are deemed inappropriate.
    • Depictions of racism, hate crimes, bigotry, and discrimination. This includes any references to the Nazi regime.
    • Depictions of drugs and/or narcotics.
    • Fraudulent depictions used to trick players into purchasing your item.
    • Derogatory comments or remarks targeted at another user, person, or group.
    • Offensive language and profanity.
    • Any political references that we deem as innapropriate or offensive.

So yes as you can see you have violated the terms and service and have recevied a temporay ban as a first warning. It will last for 2 weeks.

    Thanks,"

Now, I will say that it is utterly ridiculous that in ANY country, regardless of their stringent regulations on free speech (the under developed countries) that somehow magically managed to get FM3 to release there, it is asinine for an image of a LEAF. From NATURE, to be excluded because it is a "drug reference". No, no it is not. That is a sociological adaptation of the image, and a negative one at that. Marijuana is not a narcotic. And I refuse it to be treated as one. I will keep the syringes and crack pipes off of my cars, but if I am not allowed to replicate a gorgeous leaf produced by mother nature, I will not add any more of my art to the community. It's outrageous.

Another segment of that moderators post states "political" graphics will be banned as they deem fit. SCREW YOU. You folks haven't earned the right to delegate who can say what about whatever politician, you socialist bastards. Stop limiting content that would otherwise take off. You're not accountable for it, as the ESRB rating for the online features such as the Storefront clearly states that anything that happens on the internet connection will not be holding Turn10 liable. This is all one big idiotic mistake. To think that some players were banned for their pot leaf content, and not just put under review.

This experience will really determine what my role in this community is. Or is not.

Where I live, Mary-J is a sign of Cancer, not "Drug". Myself is banned aswell, from XBL, for having a JDM logo. w00t.

    Re: Storefront Moderation Moronic.

IMO it would be easier for Turn 10 to have just added a rating system for the content.  Then you could have rated your content for adult or mature and problem solved.  I don't like Turn 10 ruling with an iron fist but they are for now.

    Re: Storefront Moderation Moronic.

DWI, were you banned for 'just' a JDM logo, or did it have something else on it that caused the ban?

As for the OP, I think I may have seen your leaf on there, i know I have seen a couple of really well preoduced ones, which I myself didnt push to report however......

They are related to illegal drug use, and as stated in your post, T10 are banning people for putting such things up, regardless of if it is natural or not.

You have two choices, fixate on this single issue to the detriment of your experience, or accept that this is how its going to be, and it will not change, and instead choose other items with which to showcase your talents.

I hope you choose the second.

    Re: Storefront Moderation Moronic.

While your outrage was well explained you missed one really important point:

There is no country, there is no nation, there is no government or totalitarian regime, there are no individual rights and/or liberties and there is no spoon.

This is a fee for service where you have accepted said Terms Of Service and whatever additional limitations Microsoft, Turn 10, or whatever other arbitrary governing body will put in place.

Unfortunately (and I'm failing here to put it delicately) your beliefs, views, artistic vision or integrity don’t matter in this respect, sorry.

This game is rated E for everyone, and content relating to drugs and narcotics is not acceptable regardless of your personal point of view.

    Re: Storefront Moderation Moronic.

If I post a design consisting of 40 different beautiful leaves, one of which is from the Cannabis sativa, I might have a case.

If I post a design consisting ONLY of the Cannabis sativa leaf, my *intent* is pretty clear.

Many, many things occur in NATURE.

The naked human body occurs in nature... many people consider it beautiful... it is not unreasonable to prohibit it from a game marketed to, and played by, children.

The process that the human body uses to remove waste also occurs in nature... some people (albeit very few) consider that imagery to be beautiful... it is also not unreasonable to prohibit it from a game marketed to, and played by, children.

Freedom of Speech is a civil issue... the government of the U.S. will NOT throw you in jail for images, profanity or political commentary which you post to the storefront. That does not, however, have anything to do with Microsoft or Turn 10's policies on what they will, or will not, allow in their games.

I'm failing to see the slaughtering of millions in the same league as some muppet being banned from the storefront?
