Update: Matchmaking Optimizations Complete with Improvements!

Update - 5:30PM PST: Alright folks we've made some optimizations to the Multiplayer Hoppers and as of now you should be able to succesfully join populated races. Give it a shot and let us know your experience here.

We're hoping this will solve the majority of issues, however were still looking for the best balance of ping vs. number of connections etc...

We will update if anything else changes. Now go run some races!

From our official FAQ (that everyone should read)

10.28.09 – Optimization of Multiplayer Matchmaking Lobbies Begins.

Today work has begun on optimizing the multiplayer matchmaking lobby experience. Over the next few days you should expect to see changes to the behavior of our multiplayer hoppers. We will post any new updates here with any additional news or information as it becomes available.

So yes we are aware of the problems and are actively working towards improving connectivity between players.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Re: Turn 10 Aware of Multiplayer issues and working on a fix.

I vote its xbox-wide, since as far as I know there are issues like this with other games, and it's a problem to do with the Xbox360's interent connectivity?

so will you be able to make private lobbies and have strangers race in them with you and change the race conditions, etc. like in forza 2 after the fix?

Private lobbies have the same issue, for me anyway and I have an open NAT.

Re: Turn 10 Aware of Multiplayer issues and working on a fix.

I think I speak for everyone when I say "thanks for the update" - it's genuinely appreciated.

That being said, it seems it took a looong time for action to be taken on this matter, and I, for one, would like a little more info about what action is being taken, if possible.

What is causing the problem? Is there anything (other than open NAT) that individual players can do to help the process along?

When you say "a couple of days" are we talking the end of this week? Next week? Christmas? I guess what I'm asking here is whether there's a firm time table of any sort?

Thanks for addressing the community, and thanks in advance for any answers you can provide.

If you read carefully it says they are making adjustments of their hoppers.  If that happens, it will not happen until the hopper system is a proven failure.  Personally, I don't give an eff I don't understand why so many people do and I'll give the hoppers and matchmaking a chance before I pronounce it dead.

I don't care what they do with the lobbies, I just want to race a real person online.

Re: Turn 10 Aware of Multiplayer issues and working on a fix.

Cool story bro, is it so hard to import old technology? Screw matchmaking, put up custom games like it was in Forza 1 and 2. I don't want to race with idiots who play with auto braking, its like playing a racing sim to a arcade and u could possibly be beat by a grandma with one arm with that assist on. I want to race the mountain track with B class also with STM and TCS off, this could be possible in Forza 2 if there was a mountain track and is possible in Forza 1 but yea i want play with random people who also enjoy it. Whats with racing A class as the lowest class u can race? I played a E class in the starting of the single player by the way, maybe i enjoyed it and others did aslo so why cant i play it online in a setup game? Why cant ever i get to play the mountain track in matchmaking? Why is there 'AnyClass' allowed for road courses in matchmaking? Why do people always pick R1 when that option is given? Why Why Why? This game woulda lost a bunch of sales if we were told that it was gonna be like Gears Of War 2 was. *** my Life! And all u 50 year old fathers shut up and stop telling off people who want a real racing sim online. All i see is "Great Job Turn 10, Sry i didn't purchase ur first 2 games but this one is great from what i see so far, great job!".....seriously....killing me with the love.

    Custom games is a must.

I won't bash them for forgetting this, but all I hope is that they fix it. Whenever. Just fix it. Yes

Re: Turn 10 Aware of Multiplayer issues and working on a fix.

Remember the search feature in Forza 2...Pick the Track, the Class, Etc...Bam join custom game. Like how does it not get any more exact then that for what ur looking for to race? Derp?!? I just want a Yes or No answer if Custom Games are coming out ever, i just payed $80 for a game thats gonna gather dust after i get bored of carrer mode. Its like im waiting to see if i got some girl pregenet that wasent planned...just tell us already, someone. Already told my friend i played with since Forza 2 launch, now not getting Forza 3. so yea. Goooood Stuff.

Was working pretty well an hour ago. The new system really isn't that bad, however I would the like older options.

Glad to see people being cordial and trying to drive clean as well.

    It's gonna be alright fellas.
