    Why do people qualify......................

..... for the weekly tournaments then not bother racing in the first heat? I can (sort of) understand if someone can't make a later heat because they a: didn't expect to get that far, b: messed up their schedule etc, but the first one?

Wouldn't it be possible for Turn 10 to ban people from tournaments for non attendance?

Because you are taking up a place that someone else might like with no intention of actually racing. This means that people can end up racing alone for ten laps, time and time again, with no credits to show for it.

    Re: Why do people qualify......................

i would race if i could but there are 2 things stoping me, some of the times are ridiculous, 4 in the morning is far to early, and 2 if the dam thing will let me connect, not 10 minutes ago i was suposed to enter the R2 class T10 sunday challenge i tried entering but it would not connect, and then when the race started i was annoyed that only 3 of the 8 were racing. not all people can join there races though only a few seem to get in to compete, i will be going for tournaments but its a matter if it will connect.

I did actually race for one of the tournaments and on the 3rd lap one of the people just rammed me off the track just so he could win. Whats the point of doing the race if people are just going to cheat

Forza2's tournaments are ruined because of splitt lobby glitch and absenced players.

1.Why you wasted your time for qualification (if I have no chance to win anything...)???
2.Races aren't about wins but about get best possible place.
    RUGGS74:

Whats? You are ruining tournaments for real fair competitors. I played many tourneys and usually there was 3-4 players (only final round 6-7pl) and everyone qualified to next round. Even some very slowly player (R1 Sebring 1.46.x) was many times in final round (but he never won:). Many players lost interest due to absenced players.

T10 should ban them ONLY from tournaments. They are disregarding rules then T10 should disregarding them.

    Re: Why do people qualify......................

Sometimes i've qualified and simply not remembered or had the time once the qualifying period has finished to check what time the lobby for my race opens.
It's not intentional and the low number of competitors that do turn up means i'm waiting 15 minutes for a race that I can finish in any position and still get through to the next round so now I don't bother wasting my time with them.

    Re: Why do people qualify......................

I am currently in the U999 tournament and in the first round only I turned up and in the next lobby only one person made it, this meant that the second round had two racers.

The third round (tonight) only has 4 racers so we all go through to the final regardless of how many turn up. So me being an amateur level am in the final, now if I manage to knock everyone else off on the first lap I stand a chance of winning.LOL.

Don't worry I am a clean racer where possible apart froma bit of rubbin'

For most services that you pay for, and XBL is such a service, banning is reserved for intentional actions.  Do you know for sure that those people intentionally missed the race?

Real life can get in the way, even for the first race of a series.  And real life has to come first.  If a person qualifies Friday for a series that is raced at 8 AM his time and then finds out work wants him there at 8 AM when normal work time is 9 AM, then there is nothing for it but to skip the race.  Unless, of course, you are really hooked, and call in sick ... lol.

In my opinion missing a later race is no more "acceptable" than missing the first race if it is intentional, if you don't expect to get to the end then don't bother racing the qualifier.  That is why there are Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels, to get the people who qualify the same in the same race.  Of course, I have seen a couple of sandbaggers.

And, if T10 banned for non-attendance the tournies would turn into the same 10 people in a given class each week, and that is it.  People would be afraid they might not be able to make it one race out of 5, and never qualify unless it was a sure thing, and most people have real life to deal with, so online play has to take a back seat.

What I would like to see is the tourny times rotated around a little.  For example, the D class races are always starting at 8 AM local time for me, and always during the week.  So it means I can never race them.

    Re: Why do people qualify......................

These tournaments are much better in theory than they are in reality.

First thing they need to do is make all the races happen within one hour, no more multi-hour windows.  If the race posts a 10 PM start time then make it a 10 PM start time Idea [I]   I've qualified for races which listed a 10 or 11 PM start time only just to qualify and end up with a 4 AM race.

Also make the races the same time for every round so there is no confusion, if you qualify for a 10 PM race where it will start at 10:15 keep it simple and have it every night.  If you end up in the last group it's a different time each night.

Second make it worth people's while to turn up, make the total pot divisible by all attendees if you have only 4 racers or less show up.  That way if you are the only person to turn up you actually get rewarded for it rather than giving 15 minutes of your life away waiting in a lobby for absolutely no reason.

    Re: Why do people qualify......................

Ive qualified for 50 or 60 races I dont intend to race, or just forget to show up for. I just like to hotlap and I enjoy trying to get into that top number.

If you like the winning races part of the tournies then what are you whining about? Thats less people you have to race against! And if you cant get into that top 192 or whatever, then you have no chance of winning anyway- so dont worry about it.

And you MIGHT win 3000 credits for one of those races, so dont give me any stealing credit crap, go do a career race.

Believe it or not a lot of people like racing, for that you need opponents.

If you just want to hotlap there is always free run, that's what it's for.

yeah, it kinda sucks to qualify for a tourney just to find your first match is at 2am.

    Re: Why do people qualify......................

I agree, if you want to hotlap, go on freerun. You cannot say that if you like to race, then go on multiplayer, that is just a stupid comment. Torneys are completely different from normal races or career races, and are pointless unless there are 8 people in the room.

I have given up on these torneys, and instead race in the BritGT, which is run by a friend of mine, and is so much more fun. The competition is so much beter that these torneys.

Yes it does suck.  Whenever I get a spot after midnight I don't bother running it.

Back to the topic, I hate when people qualify and not race.  It's a free win for me but it doesn't earn me $$ or help my true skill rank.  One time I ended up winning a tournament without having to face a single opponent.  I did all that work and didn't make a frickin dime for it.  That was the frustrating part.  If people don't show up that's their fault but why penalize those of us that do show up.  I say they should make a standard purse regardless of the number of drivers who show up for the race.  A purse whould entice more people to show up because if 1 shows up they get the 1st place prize.
