    Feuerdog's V5.11a & V5.11d Forza 2 Basic Suspension Calculator + an Access Version

Hi tuning fans. I decided to make a Thread where the link to Feuerdog's V5.11a Basic Suspension Calculator Excel spreadsheet so it will  stay in the 1st post.

You can download an Excel spreadsheet and get a good basic starting point for any car. since no one has the perfect tune for Forza, the V5.11a Calculator will help you get closer than the Default setups in the game. If you don't have Office Excel, you can download a FREE copy of Open Office at http://www.openoffice.org and it should work.

    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gqgyk1mjjrw

Here is a link to the User's Guide in a PDF file for the Ver 5.11a Basic Calculator.

    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gi46wij2nxg

Here is a V5.11d version hosted by Barumba that has different options plus you can download instruction manuals:

    http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/1655059.aspx

Here is a Microsoft Access version of feuerdog's V5.11a Forza 2 Calculator by "Kid africa". This version has options to save each cars upgrades and setup.

I use the MS racing wheel and tweak the tune to fit my driving style.

Is anyone ever going to make an online calculator for version 5 like they have for version 3?

This is the Online Calculator for Version 5.

Go ahead and download the Excel Spreadsheet from the link and it will do everything for you and then there is an extra Tweaking instructions for Oversteer and Understeer. When you open the Calculator it looks like an online calculator. You don't need to be on the internet to use this Basic Calculator.

All you have to do is enter a few stats for your car and it is automatic.

This Spreadsheet also works with the FREE OpenOffice suite that you can download from http://www.openoffice.org

Re: Feverdog's V5.11a Basic Suspension Calculator can be found here

It is feuerdog , anglo'd from the original "feuerhund" (translation: fire dog), not Feverdog.

No one has posted a Porsche calc based on v5.11a.

    Go ahead, correct me, please!

This calc link below (based on v3) has a Porsche tweak, but I do not know if it has been updated to v5.11a. I doubt it.

     http://www.croisened.com/

v5.11a has a RR tweak (Porsche are only cars with this configuration), but it is far from close to a smooth ride.

Enter your inputs, then tweak till you get a ride that works for you.

I did, and am OK with my final settings, for my RR Porsche cars, my MS wheel, and my driving style...

That's what these calcs are all about, get close, then fine tune.

Re: Feverdog's V5.11a Basic Suspension Calculator can be found here

I tried using one of these calculators once, and what I noticed is that it gave an extremely high front camber setting.

When I tune camber I try and make my tires flat as they go through the corner (I look at tire misc.) I alway end up with a relatively low camber setting in the front because the caster helps make my front tires flat as I go through a corner.

When ever I look at a calculator it gives me some crazy number  like -0.9.

Is this just a flawed section of the tunning calculation? or am I missing something.

Re: Feverdog's V5.11a Basic Suspension Calculator can be found here

If the camber goes positive through a turn, you lose significant grip.  If it goes negative, you lose a small amount of grip, but the higher static camber greatly increases the responsiveness of the car.  The calculator seems to account for this, as does Forza's physics engine, as a camber of -.7 to -1 in the front with a 0 to -.2 in the rear on telemetry through most turns on a track tend to give me my best times.

Re: Feverdog's V5.11a Basic Suspension Calculator can be found here

    barumba,

Man I've been watching feuerdog post since Blooze first released the famous transmission calculator, I should of known better. I guess I went with the name in the title of this thread without thinking. Sorry feuerdog no disrespect intended. Anyway, I've send a private message to him asking but haven't heard from him yet. I have used v5 of the calc on the 2007 Porche 911 Turbo and his new spreadsheet seems to configure that ride almost perfect for me. It can have some slight entry oversteer but I think that's more a result of my aero setting and corner entry speed than ill settings. I've used this calc for about 4 setups and for each ride my lap times have improved. I haven't raced online yet with any of these setups to see how I do against warm bodies with strategic minds and/or intoxicated idiots with a destructive nature and too much time on their hands, but from what I can tell so far, online I would be the weakest link in my v5.11a calculated 2007 911 Turbo. Yo Feuerdog, HOLLA BACK! I really do wanna show you something and see what you think if you've got the time.

Re: Feverdog's V5.11a Basic Suspension Calculator can be found here

pbnos, I agree. I've tuned 8 P cars with v511a, and after test laps, tweaks for OS, have got pretty manageable rides. So far, I think the generally stiff set-up from v511a is giving me what I want. It just takes a bit of input from the tuner. Like I said (actually, quoted) these tuning calcs are a starting point and with a bit of tweaking will get us to where we want.

BTW, not everyone will like such a stiff set-up. I do, but the tweaks will modulate that enough to give a car that should handle to your liking. If  not, there are other calcs out there.

RR means rear wheel drive, with the engine in the rear (ie Porsche). FR is front engined, rear wheel drive (ie Corvettes). MR is mid engined, rear wheel drive (most supercars). FF is front engine, front wheel drive (ie Civics). When you see "A", that means it's all wheel drive (ie most of the in game Subarus).

As far as learning how to use the excel spreadsheet, here's a whole bunch of information to get you started:

    http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/1/242646/ShowThread.aspx

Read the first few posts that explains what the calculator does. The excel spreadsheet takes the manual pencil and paper calculations out of it.

This is a flash based calculator that's outdated, but if you fill in the information from your car's stats into it, you'll get an idea of how it all works. Once you're comfortable using the v3 calculator, you can start using the excel spreadsheet to get a better tune.

Thanks Ricky for pointing out that there was no Drive Type Code. I added the code to the Excel spreadsheet so now it is included when you download the V5.11a Basic Suspension Calculator.
