The new Scoreboard Filter *IS* useful - post your tips here!

Lots of early confusion (and complaints) about the new Scoreboard Filter, so until a full description comes from Turn10, let's post our tips on how it CAN be used.

First note: It only filters the top 1000 times.

A lot of people are saying "what good is that? I'm not in the top 1000"!

Well, it can be useful anyway:

Say I want to build a new B-Class car to run on Motegi Road Course. I'm thinking "hmmm... I like the Acura NSX - should I try that car"? So I start paging through the Hot Lap scoreboard... 25 pages, and I haven't seen one yet. Hmmm... Click Customize Results, select Acura NSX, and hit Run Filter. Now I see there is only 1 NSX in the top 1000 - at #966. Probably not the best car for me to start working with. I also like the MINI Cooper S (because it's so similar to the NSX - heh heh), so, let's filter on that car. Bingo! 44 in the top 1000, ranging from #60 to #984. I'll give the MINI a try!

This also shows me what the top times are for the MINI, giving me an idea of what I'll be up against if I try using it in multiplayer racing.

Who's got the next useful tip?

    Don Ente's Tip #2

If you are in the top 1000 - how do you stack up against other drivers in the same car?

Lots of people drive lots of different cars. So, I can use the Filter to find out how my time measures against the same car, as opposed to the Class as a whole.

We'll take a look at Class A - Road Atlanta. Not to "toot my own horn," but I'm at #465 in a Viper GTS ACR. The top times are all being set by Stingrays, Chargers and Camaros. So, I run the Filter to show only Viper GTS ACR times...

Woo Hooooo! I've got the fastest lap!

Of course, that doesn't mean a whole lot, as all 464 drivers ahead of me might be able to set faster times if they switched to the Viper... but, at least it gives me an idea of how my time, in that car, compares... and in a way that is a WHOLE LOT easier than paging through and counting them off ;)

You can get permalinks -- it is down at the bottom where it says "bookmark page".

Ah didn't think of trying IE. Firefox here so yea it seems like a browser issue. Weird how just that button doesn't show up.

If you click the Email button, it will open your default email client with an http:// link to that scoreboard.

this tool will be much more beneficial when Forza3 comes out, I have the feeling your top times for each car will be recorded, including the drivetrain of that car and other factors like HP, tires etc will be recorded to allow more filtering and more times to be searched.  The current search engine has its uses, although they are limited.  I have a feeling Turn10 was getting some experience with creating a scoreboard filter to fine tune the next one for Forza3. Now they can see the limitations of the current one, most notable, the fact the scoreboards only record your fastest lap overall.  This is a definite must for  the next game, the scoreboard need to record your fastest lap with each car.  Then you have to wonder, if you have two cars, one high HP, one high handling, you run them both, the scoreboard needs to record both of these times also, not limited to the car type, but the actual identity of the car, and that particular build of the car.

I'm missing something here. I don't show a customize results option on the front scoreboard page. Also, I was hoping you could filter out to show only results for example, of those without driving aids on.

the scoreboard filter is good for advertising cars in the tuning market, for instance i'm currently selling the fastest s class peugeot 207 s2000 on the reverse test tracks...

nice shameless plug there...Stick out tongue [:P]

It's only available (visible) when you're looking at the scoreboard for a specific class on a specific track... e.g. Hot Lap -> Class D -> Real World Tracks -> Laguna Seca -> Get Scoreboard... you'll see the top times, and a Customize Results link above the list.

WOW! How great is this filter anyway?

I wanted to check what cars and the times for this week's FM.net HLC. Easy!

I went to scoreboard, Clicked on HotLap, "A", Suzuka West, the Scoreboard filter and entered "FreeRun" and March 7, 2008.

All the times were there with what cars they used. Looks like the 1969 Fairlady Z. I didn't scroll down that far to see if anyone had used a different car yet.

    Great job Turn 10!
