As Some of you may have heard, Gamespot is running a little tourny of they're own with prizes given out to the top four placers:

The second-place winner will receive one (1) $300.00 gift card to Best Buy (approximate retail value ("ARV") $300.00). Total ARV of Second Place Prize = $500.00.

The third-place winner will receive one (1) $100.00 gift card to Best Buy (approximate retail value ("ARV") $100.00). Total ARV of Third Place Prize = $350.00.

The fourth - sixth place winners will receive one (1) $150.00 gift card to Best Buy (approximate retail value ("ARV") $150.00). Total ARV of Fourth - Sixth place prize = $450.00.

Total ARV of all prizes: $2,000.00.

Sign-ups are closed; as day 1 of competition got under way.One of FM.net's own moderators, Flying Scot  AD(of R2P) has advanced to round 2. Everyone give him and the other competitors a round of applause for making it through round one.

theres a couple of names running around in this thing.... R2P has both Flying Scot AD and Blackbird

Theres also Jczero..... not nearly as many hardcore forza guys as I would have expected given that this was posted in the Pit pass report.

By the way, I showed up in the lobby with my '69 Dodge Charger upgraded to a PI of 900, and all of a sudden the upgrades were stripped off and I'm sitting in a D Class rust bucket! What's up with that?? I was running consistent 39's in that car too...

So I was given a choice of stock cars to choose from and ran the race in the 899 PI Supra which I've NEVER driven on the Nissan Speedway, much less a tournament...

This is just a heads up to those who haven't run yet. We're racing bone stock vehicles of any class of to a PI of 900 from what I gather.

Choose wisely grasshopper. (1970's Kung Fu reference for the 5 of us in the forum who are old enough to remember the TV series)

Rox, I had the first race yesterday and luckily no one really was prepared so we all ran the Supra. Afterwards I found out the GT40 was the car to use. I had done the same prepped my Charger an hour before the race only to find out I couldn't use it.

I was an alternate and didn't expect to get in and surprised to see how many no shows there were.

Also I was involved in a wreck at the beginning of lap 5, both of us intitially perceived it as the others fault. I was lucky enough to be able to limp to the pits at 62mph and the other gentleman was hit right after and was not able to make it round to the pits until the very last lap. He deserved another shot as he certainly was fast enough to move through a few rounds.

Notable names I recognized other than those posting in the thread so far - JustChevyBoy and Gatz83 who is currently 2nd in the CGS qualifier. There are others but due to not recognizing the name they signed on the Gamespot forum with It will be a case of race them and sweat it out for 10 laps.

Barring, any further lag issues and racing incidents next week should be a test with a race each day of the week.

My Only Livery attempt

Scot, I was summarily beaten by two GT40's! Since it holds the Speedway lap record in S class, I thought I would build one, but it was still a very touchy car to drive. As was the experience of many who didn't make it all ten laps I'm sure. I didn't really end up pushing the Supra until lap 7 or 8, by which time I was in a comfortable third and slowly gaining on the second place GT40.

So, for the record, I certainly wasn't the fastest, but sometimes coming away unscathed works just as well!

I didnt even race last night as I was one of only two people that checked in... so off to the second round I go on the 25th.

What's up gentlemen. I was pretty shocked to not see a room full of gt40's. Guess the new guys were fooled by the higher PI of the supra. I checked the stats of the guys in my race while we were waiting in the lobby and a couple of them had never even played forza 2 online! Could've been percieved as either a good or bad thing.  Sure wish they had left the damage on cosmetic....

Saw this on Gamespot and registered until I saw the times of the events.  Would've loved to race, but with so many events during the day, I couldn't.  This was clearly meant for the non-working community.  Hopefully a similar event in the future will have events in the evening so that everybody can participate.

What no update today Tone. I was just in the chat when the admin called for waitlisters to fill a room so I asked the question. This is round two how can there be waitlisters ? They replied that they allow waitlisters in until the Semi-Final. My comment to that was this is the first tourney that I have seen that being allowed normally after round one if they didn't race they don't advance.

Anyway I advanced to the 3rd round safely as did RoxApex and VVV Tone but of more interest is tomorrow's night's match where the drifters in Team Blackjack  meet up with the racers from R2P. 4 may enter but only 3 advance. From what we saw when we all ran together today for fun it's going to be a close battle in that room and starting position will be all important.

I'm glad I won't meet that room and the bottom half of the bracket until the final if I get that far as apart from the 4 from BLJK and R2P there are 3 other really fast guys in that half of the bracket.

For anyone that wonders 'drifter ?' These guys are fast racers as well and if they bothered attacking the scoreboards would be right up there with the top racing teams putting in top 20 times.
