I'm tired of the now daily new thread about how EB moved the games date, "Che just tell us when the demo is", and other non-sense that crops up and spawns a 3 page thread about the latest speculation on a date. If you want to trip the light fantastic about when the demo will hit and what track it'll feature, let us all know about how cool the Fairlady Z will be, or confirm for us that your supplier has a ship date, do it here.
All other threads will be either locked or joined to this one, depending on which moderator sees it first and their mood.
Release Date: Turn 10 is the developer, the publisher sets the release date based off of how well the game goes through the certification process and the game disks are pressed.
As of 20-April-2007 - North American release date is 29-May-07.
As of 26-April-2007 - European release date is 08-June-07.
As of 04-May-2007 - Australian IGN is claiming a release date of 14-June-07 for their market.
As of 03-May-2007 - Unconfirmed other region release date, I've seen different values for different countries ranging from 24-May-07 to 08-June-07.
Demo: A Demo has been confirmed, likely to show up on the Marketplace. An update from WPR 44 available below. Each regions Marketplace will be responsible for when the content shows up like all other Marketplace content, track is Mugello Short. WPR 42 has a partial list of the 24 cars that will be in the demo.
Che Chou:Before we get into it, one quick word about the impending Forza Motorsport 2 Xbox Live Marketplace demo -- it is coming soon but we haven't been told a date and Turn 10 doesn't set the dates. In other words, I don't know when the demo is coming so please stop asking. :) I know you guys absolutely can't wait to get your hands on the demo but there's a marketing timeline, and even though it may not make a lot of sense now, trust me, there's a rhyme and reason at work here. Have faith!
Che Chou:Sorry, there's no demo this Friday.
The demo is still going through the certification process so things are still up in the air.
Apologies all around for leaving you guys hanging. I know anticipation around this game and its demo is at an all-time high, but our (Turn 10's) hands are tied here.
Seriously, as soon as I know something, I'll make an announcement here.
Thanks.
As an update to the demo, the OXM Ad regarding the demo was placed to match a print deadline for the print magazine. For those that want to know when they'll find out a date for the demo, check the original post in this thread often! As soon as I have a confirmed date I will update this to let everyone know as much details as possible regarding the demo. If that is not good enough, it will be an announcement on this site no doubt, and there are RSS feeds to subscribe to for that update. If that is not enough for you, Major Nelson also runs updates and has an RSS feed specifically for Marketplace content you can subscribe too.
Limited Edition: Limited Edition content will include three cars that will not be allowed to go on the auction house or to be gifted. WPR 45 confirms that the US will not be getting an LCE version.
Che Chou:Then, there's the lingering question of the Forza Motorsport 2 Limited Collector's Edition, which includes a soundtrack CD, a special making-of book (which yours truly contributed to), as well as nicer packaging and different cover art. On top of all that, the LCE comes with a code that allows you to download three exclusive cars available only to those who own the LCE. While the Forza 2 LCE has been confirmed for Asia and Europe, I'm sorry to say that it will not be coming to the U.S. Was it a Turn 10 studio decision? Of course not. When it comes to retail matters, there are many internal and external forces at work in the channel. Unfortunately, it was decided early on that the U.S. wouldn't get the Forza 2 LCE. Why? You'll just have to chalk it up to one of life's great mysteries, I guess. So the question is, just how badly do you want the three exclusive cars ('06 Ford Saleen Mustang S281 E, '03 Ferrari Challenge Stradale, '06 Subaru Impreza S204) and how far will you go to track down a LCE?
Please do not start new threads asking for this information, they will only be locked / deleted.
