For some this is a week you have waited for with much anticipation.  For others you simply feel like the NF1 members should be banned this week.  We will be running R1 cars this week.  The #2 Audi.  Sorry folks it was either that or open the class wide open which meant the Ferrari.

Being that R1 and U classes are, by far, my weakest classes; I am absolutely amazed that I was able to put in a 1:05.001(20th, when I set it yesterday) on the first day.

Number one is down to a 1:03.895 last I saw yesterday. Probably down another tenth or so this morning.

It took a while to tune the car from scratch yesterday but we managaed to tune a fine car that I think can get into the high 1:03's.

God, its great to be back in the Forza fold   :)))

 

now #1 is down to a 1:03.707....jeez!

 

I have gotten my time down to a 1:04.945 with 2 mistakes....theres my second...damn mistakes....lol

Great call on this challenge solo.  I rarely run these race cars so its a nice change of pace for me.  I see no chance of breaking the 1:03's like some have done but I'm surprising myself today especially on tuning this thing to high 1:04's.  A couple different sections like the first corner and the uphill bend after the esses bother me the most and defiintely are in my opinion the most important turns.  The toughest thing next to getting the car through those turns fast for me is setting up the gears but this challenge is definitely lots of fun.

Love this combo, but I fear that I am not quick enough to even clear the qualification bar. I think I may be my own worse enemy, because I will only drive Forza 2 without any assists. My main question is, does anyone know of a half decent setup for this car?, just to at least give me a cat in hells chance of clearing the qualification bar? My current best lap is 1:08:10 with my own set, and the bar is rapidly falling close to that (1:08:20 currently). Anyone care to help out on the setup front?

Yeah we were having a go with it yesterday in a team lobby. just tryin to hammer out a few more tuning parameters.

 

Speaking of tuning... guys....you will want to run a three gear set-up for this one. Well two rteally as youll only be using 2nd and third gear.

 

You MUST take turn one at no less than 147 MPH  and turn 2 at no less than 149 MPH. Then full throttle through the S's. and breakling to about 115 MPH for the short left hander that takes you onto the short straight.

Next youll want to enter the 2 right turns that bring you to the back straight. The first one you will want to take in 2nd at no less than 110 MPH. The second of the two right handers you will take at no less than 60 MPH with a clear exit vector. 

Lastly come thetough S's at the end. These you will take at no less than 80 MPH. bringing you out at full throttle over the start/finish line.

 

NOTE: all speeds posted here are APEX SPEEDS which means the lowest point your speed hits in a turn before you re-press on the throttle to accel out of the turn. ALso these speeds I gave are alittle on the conservative side. To get a 1:03.8 or better youll need top increase those speeds by another MPH or two average.

What cracks me up is I can tell people and show them how to put up those kinds of times..I just cant seem to do it myself....roflmao.. still at 1:04.945.....blah!. If I can just put together a clean frickin lap I can look at a 1:03.xxx.

Stole the set-up?...lol.....Damn that boy; I told him to close his set-ups.....rofllmao...oh well... one got away.

Of course if you were just referring to the info and not the car set-up then I withdraw the above staement... :)

Looks like you and me will be neck and neck through out this little comp, Solo. BTW you use the wheel? You know I do (sig). Just curious as, like I said, we will be battling throughout this challenge as we seem pretty evenly matched.

Also; didnt know you were in TRC... I thought they closed up shop when Factory left. Glad to see they didnt though  :) TRC DarkSt0rm, and TRC Giant are my homeys. But I dont see them racing much lately...anyway...enough rambling. You mind if I make a spot on my frinds list and throw you out a FR?

We have a newer cast on stage for the hot lap challenge than you will probably recognize, but I've become the team slave and things are still thriving for TRC.  I use a controller because I"ve had a bad experience with a wheel... ie it made me suck in GT4.

Was able to put down a 1:04.6.. though I only have about .200-.300 left in my car I think.  I still can't see breaking 1:03's, I'm no where even close to that time even when I do choke away my fast laps 

Well, 1:04.322 so far with a crap load of bad driving. I just can not put one clean freakin lap together. I was on pace last night for a 1:03.7xx, but fouled it up on the slow right hander. Jesus, all I ask for is 1 good lap. God, I hate R1.

Glad to hear that TRC isnt going the way of the Dodo... :)

Sorry to hear about the bad wheel experiences...I wish everyone loved the wheel as much as I do...but alas, its not to be that way. Most peeps give up quickly when they realize it will take a few months to get the nuances of the wheel down. After a year of using the wheel I am much much much faster with the wheel than I ever was with the controller. I was a top 200 driver with the controller. With the wheel; I am looking at top 20. Never thought at 35 I would be able to compete against kids half my age with this wheel. After all the controller has always owned in console racing. But Turn 10 did a great job in calibrating the wheel and utilizing its capabilities. I dare say that the wheel is actually faster than the controller IF people take the time to adjust to the learning curve for it.

 

Anyway.... got my time down from a 1:04.985...to a 1:04.385 yesterday. I can definately get into the 1:03's if I can just put together a strong lap. My combined best segments put me at a 1:03.5-6 range...but like others; I just cant put them all together at once...lol. That will change today as I get myself a 1:03.7 or better. Just as soon as I get home from work  :)
