    Original Post

I'm here to announce that the competition has officially begun. What do you have to do? It's simple. Create the best and most accurate looking replica of the Team Seattle Porsche (see pics below) and email photos of your creation to forzafb@microsoft.com. If we think your photos make the cut, then you move onto the semi-finals, where we ask you guys to gift us your Porsches and we choose the winner with not only the best looking car, but also the fastest and best handling car -- which means an artist may have to team up with a car tuner to produce the winning result.

The car you use has to be a Porsche 996 GT3, with any upgrades up to the top of Class S and you must optimize the tuning of the car for Mazda Speedway Laguna Seca.

We will be accepting entries on this replica competition until midnight, Jan. 31, 2008.

So what do you win? For starters, 3 gift cars (each) for you and any one of your friends. Plus 15 million in-game credits for you and a friend. Plus, your name in the bright lights here at Forzamotorsport.net. What more could you ask for? (Don't answer that).

For all details and photos of the real-life car, headover to this blog entry:

Re: Team Seattle Porsche 996 Replica Competition is GOIN ON!

I have many many artist friends... if any of you wnat me to take a crack at Tuning this beast let me know.  I will be an annomyous participant so that there is no hint of bias in the contest.

Quick questoin Che... the Forza front bumper kills the replication look... but it'll kill the tune job without it... so which way should people go?

Oh I don't know.  Doesn't look too terribly difficult.  Some serious custom text...

I suppose j or Tank could help tune.

Ahhh, I gotta think about it.  Making a lot of cars for tuned packs right now.

This car is going to be a layer shifting paradise:)  I find it a bit ironic that T10 wants us to make this one when all the threads requesting a fix for the shifting or atleast some input on it were ignored.

I'm upto my eyes in Stream Z's at the moment, otherwise I'd give it a go, but then again it takes me a while with real life & such, so I'll pass on this even though the prize(s) are tempting!!

That and taking away the amount of prize cars given out to the very artists who weekly make new cars for the livery competition...Pretty funny...

Hey Method, nice to see you on here again.  You very much should do this contest.

You make great looking replicas, very accurate.  Good to know that you're still painting know and again.

    Miss your LMS stuff.

Here is what I have done so far btw this is my 1st ever try and doing this stuff so comments would be nice :)

Good first try, a couple quick comments:

    1. The GT2 lettering lines up with the front of the american flag

    2. the letters in the 'myovision' are not uniform, i.e. the 'M' and 'V' are noticably larger than the other letters. I am on the fence whether these and the 'Autos' will have to be custom text.

    3. You got the front quater panel position right except unfortunately there is a glitch on the car that shows the body color that you can't paint over at all. Try lowering the layers a fraction even though it's not exact to mask the glitch.

    4. the BBS logo could be slightly smaller.

    5. At least some of the letters in the Jackson Dean logo should be done custom. For example the 'K' is closer to a 'I' with a less than sign attached, than a 'K'.

Other comments, while I understand the temptation to make the car color metallic silver and have it show as part of the checkered design this leads to other compromises in the aformentioned front end glitch and the rear under-wing which would remain silver. If you choose to make the car color blue the rear wing is correct but the front end glitch is even more pronounced than in silver.

I don't know what I'm going to do, right now my car color is white but I'm leaning towards silver.

    Good job so far.

Re: Team Seattle Porsche 996 Replica Competition is GOIN ON!

I think the 996 GT3 is capable of at least 1:19's in the hands of a good driver since I'm in the 1:20's (the top time I think is in the 1:18's)

This was with a car without the Forza kit. S-998 is possible with BBS RE wheels. Therefore I'm in for keeping the tune up to the top of S-class as opposed to restricting horsepower closer to the actual race car number.

Like a longer race allows the better race car driver's talent to show up in a race, more horsepower will allow the better tune to shine threw.

Just my two cents (I think I spent at least a quarter in this contest so far).
