    [ANTi] Carbon Fiber Tutorial v2.0

    Gradient Shapes - 17 x0.04 y5.00

Gradient Shapes = The vinyl group.
17 = The name of the specific vinyl.
x0.04 = The width of the vinyl.
y5.00 = The height of the vinyl.

PS! These measurements depends on the car, these work best for the mini, on other cars
you might have to make some adjustments to make it fit.

    ________________________________________________________________________________

Here we go, for this tutorial I'll be using a EVO X and cover how to make CF hood's, other CF bodyparts and
    how to make
CF bodypart and still be able to have metallic graphics on your car.

Creating A Carbon Fiber Layer Group

First off is creating a CF layer group to use in all of the CF scenarios. Start off by choosing which vinyl you
want to use for your CF graphic. I'll be using my personal favorite Gradient Shapes - 19, this specific vinyl
saves you a lot of layers and looks very clean. Using some of the Stripes vinyls that contain multiple lines
will save you a lot of layer but won't look very good compared to the Gradient Shapes.

Now, find a car with a big clean roof and add the vinyl you have chosen. In my case that would be Gradient
    Shapes - 19
. I like to use a white car when doing this, and keep the vinyl black. Depending on your
intentions for the CF you might want to lower the transparency of your vinyl to make it a bit more subtle.
I won't do that for this tutorial since I don't usually to that.  Now change the size of your vinyl to look like
the picture below. I used X:0.05 Y:5.00 on my EVO X.

Then press Y to stamp the vinyl and make a copy, then use the D-pad to move the new layer to the right
until all the lines have the same space between them.Count the number of times you press the D-pad to
get the same space each time[I used 16 clicks]. Keep on doing this a few more times  until you got 5-10
layers. Then press A  to go back to the layer selection screen, press a on any of the layers and choose
"Highlight All Layers" then press A again and choose "Position Highlighted Layers".

Now use the same technique as before but instead of counting clicks just try to see when the space is
correct. To make this process faster you can go and "Highlight All Layers" again to highlight both the old
and the new layers. When you have about 100 layers and your car looks something like this.

"Highlight All Layers" again, press A and choose "Create New Vinyl Group" and make a group called Carbon.
Now while you're at it start all over again, now you'll make a CF group that have a straight edge which is
very handy if you want to have a side skirt in CF and a metallic graphics above it.
Making one with a straight edge is very easy, instead of your first layer being vertical "Spin" or "Skew" it
to somewhere around 45 degrees. Then just do the exact same steps you've already done. Just save it as
    "Carbon Straight" or something.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

    CF'ing The Hood
Go up on the roof of your car [In the editor you idiot] and load the Layer Group you created called "Carbon"
spin it a bit and make it smaller until you think it looks good. Now remove all the CF layers that don't cover
the hood, this is mainly to save some layers.

Then you cover up the parts that's not suppose to look like CF and make the cover up layers the same color
    as the car.

Now go pic a color for the hood, one of the darker gray colors in a metallic finish tend to look pretty sweet.
Some of the special colors look good as well, once you've made your choice go highlight all the CF layers
and change the color to something that work with your background. I chose a dark gray metallic as
background and used the same color for the CF layers.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

    Other CF Bodyparts
Start off with a plain car, then put vinyls wherever on the car you do not want to add a CF look like I've done in these pictures:

Then load the CF group you made earlier and cover up the areas you do want CF'd, as you can see in my
case that is pretty much the whole car.

Now, highlight all the CF layers. Press down on the left analog stick and press A to highlight a layer, if you
keep A pressed you can use the D-pad to add more layers to your selection. Then press X to cut them all
out, navigate to the beginning of the layerscreen and while on "Layer 1" press Y to insert all the CF layer
underneath all the other layers. If done right it should look like this:

Then go choose a metallic or special basecolor for your car and you should get this:

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

    Combining CF and Metallic Graphics

This is where the straight CF group comes in to play, on my EVO I want to CF bumpers and sideskirts with
metallic graphics on the sides. It's all pretty similar to what you've just done, remove all the CF layers and
select a silver metallic paint for your car.

Wherever you want a CF look on your car you need to apply a transperent vinyl with a dark color for it to
look right. How transperent it should be depends on the color of the CF and such, for this tutorial I'll be
using 50%. These layer should be underneath all the other layers.

Right on top of these layer you'll add the CF layers, load you Straight CF group and apply it to the car
where you want it to have a CF look. Be careful not to get any on the metallic area. After you've done that
the rest is just like before. Here is how it turned out for me.

    Re: Carbon Fiber Tutorial

Great tutorial, but FYI if you use the "Stripes-30" vinyl you can get four lines in one layer. which could be usefull if you tight on the number of  layers you can commit to CF Wink [;)]
My DC4's got 325 on 10psi.(thanks to a new wastegate and tune!!!) how much yours got?

    Re: Carbon Fiber Tutorial

where theres a will theres a way!

you would have to do a carbon fibre base, then add vinyls on top in the colour u want your car to be and make it form a flame shape with the CF showing thru the middle. does that make sense?
