    [rOmituNed] sandshark selling now

    S998 Fairlady Z 24hr Non-Featured Auctions
    300K Buyout

Finally done and here she is... the car for those of you who need a car to drive so that your quippy retorts about your presence in a gravel trap will finally make sense. sandshark is a beast indeed. Beating out tigershark times by an average of 8/10ths of a second.

Specifically tuned on Motegi, the car has been tested on Mugello and Suzuka as well and handles just fine. All that is needed on the longer tracks is to extend (shorten) the final drive gear for more top end.

    sandshark.

Where will you put it on the leaderboard?

    Re: [rOmituNed] sandshark selling now

Just did about 10 laps with this car around motegi east.  My controller vibrates like crazy when I brake.  I checked your settings and you've got the brake pressure at the full 200 percent.  It also has a great deal of understeer.  It's the only car I have that won't make the same sweeping turns without letting off the gas.

I think the paint is really nice but you may want to look at those two issues with the tune.  Putting the pressure to the full 200% doesn't mean it's going to stop faster.  It really just destroys the cars balance and is very distracting when the controller vibrates so much.  This is just my 2 cents so please don't take it personal.  I think if you changed a couple things this car would be awesome.  I do like how fast it is in the straights but I have to brake way to early for the corners.

    Wicked,

Thanks for the feedback... one of my test drivers said much of the same thing. The main reason for the breaking and handling is simply because I refused to use the Forza Aero front clip bumper. So many cars all have the same Forza body kits and without the Top Secret front clip, it just didn't look like a "shark."

The brake pressure is 200% so the ABS activates and reactivates quickly, thus, in my opinion, helping it to brake more quickly without the aid of the front Forza air dam. The handling is the same, primarily due to the camber and toe to aid in stability during braking. Yes you have to brake sooner, but once you get used to it, I and my test drivers liked it well enough. YMMV.

BTW, I;m still wanting to pick up one of your 'Ring Nur's. Looks nice!

    Any other comments?

    Romi-

Even though you are running ABS, the brakes will still lock up on you thus creating an understeer "feel" because the car won't want to turn. Did you try the brake pressure at say 120%? Did you play with the brake balance at all?

I actually didn't notice there was no forza bumper until after I left my first comment.  I had to change it out just for my own personal preference.  I understand what you're saying though about the brakes.  Either way the paint is sweet and I would've paid more just for that.  I love both cars I've got from you (Tigershark and Sandshark).  Thanks dude.

I did... I tried a full range of balance and pressures... more balance forward and high pressure seemed to be the best solution... as far as the understeer goes, I never brake in a turn unless I run it wrong, prefering to brake in a straight line beforehand if at all possible... so the traction co-efficient wouldn't be any less due to braking around a corner. I admit, it's a tougher car to drive than my previous two...ah, the sacrifices we make for beauty! :-) Thanks for all the feedback guys! Hope you like them all...feel free to post comments!

    Re: [rOmituNed] sandshark selling now

I think my biggest problem was that I had become so used to the Forza Aero Kits and dependent on them, that I assumed nothing else could do as good a job as them. Sooo....

....having listened to the criticisms (primarily from Wicked and Pleco-thanks for speaking up guys) I decided to re-investigate. I took the Top Secret front end off and put the dreaded FA back on. Retuned the suspension and braking to fit and took a full (hold your breath) three seconds off my Motegi time. I then took the FA bumper off and without touching anything, took it back out on Motegi and was stunned at how little difference there was...so I tweaked it just a bit and now the tune, I think, is perfected. All the remnants of understeer are gone and she brakes much smoother.... you still have to brake a little early, but it's much smoother!

That being said....if you bought sandshark 1.0, and are unhappy with how stiff it is, send me an FR, gift it back to me and I'll swap out the new tune - and - for your trouble, gift you a free romituned surprise car.

A new batch of sandshark 2.0's is about to hit the AH in the next fifteen...so, enjoy with my apologies for a botched tune!

    Re: [rOmituNed] sandshark selling now

I went ahead and got another one.  I don't mind having 2.  I kinda did some tweaking and whatnot to the first so it's cool.  I'll check out the 2nd one in just a bit and give you my honest eval.

Change of topic.  I've got 2 spots still open in the $5,000,000 Winner Take all challenge that I'm running.  It was kind of an impromptu challenge that turned into a full blown contest.  Check it out it's not too late to sign up.
