Would be greatly appreciated if something was done about it pronto.

That's funny... have you checked the OP for a date? Nothing is happening... much less "pronto." Sorry, sir...but you, like the rest of us have been abandoned.

If there's not a solution to these freeze probs, at least the DT should consider to make skipable the Turn10 and the Microsoft intros at the startup... so the reboot after the freeze will be faster. :-)

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

Mod Edit:  Here are some steps to take that might help you solve your freezing problems.

    1- Delete un-used Cars
If you have a very large car collection it is possible to reduce the probability of this problem occurring by limiting the number of cars in your garage.

    2- Use the car list
When you are in your garage there is a feature that allows you to search for a car in a list, essentially avoiding the problem of loading multiple cars with various upgrades and liveries.  By pressing “X” you can sort and select cars based on a wide variety of criteria.

3- Save designs to the design catalog
In order to reduce the number of duplicate cars in your garage, try saving some of your favorite liveries into the design catalog.  This will reduce the number of duplicate cars that you have in your garage.  When you are ready to drive with a different livery, simply load another design from the catalog.  Once you have saved the design you can delete the duplicate car from your garage.

4- Search for troublesome cars and remove them
It is very possible that certain cars within your garage can be the cause of freezing issues.  If you find yourself consistently freezing when trying to select a specific car then try removing it from your garage.  Sometimes a specific car can become corrupted without affecting the rest of the profile.  The best way to determine if a car has become corrupted is to check and see if you always freeze when trying to select that particular car.  If so then remove the car and try again.

is it a mod saying this?

    Its like, what? ehrm..

i got the same problems..  freezes in the garage, and when host quit a lobby.. and it happen all the time..

but i dont want to dump my cars.. ive got - as many others - different cars for different tracks witrh different setups and builds. some for online racing, some leaderbord cars for hotlapping. som tuner/livery cars that i bought (cant save these paintjobs to catalog..)

This is not a solution for the problems, its just a way of avoiding the problem - maby.. -

but why cant turn10 say if they try to fix or not.  So far i think turn10 and the forza franschise has the best community dialog. thx to che and the guys but when it comes to tech?  i wonder..

Turn 10 has moved on to "the next big project" so I would not expect any "fix" other than the suggestions in this thread from any official source.  Personally, I use the (X) to sort to I believe it is 31 different possibilities - and never lock in that situation.  And I do need to pay attention to saving off designs instead of having 37 of the same brand/model car.  But that's my fault, just like having 154 replays saved from various races.  LOL!

May only work for me, but. My game froze often while scrolling through my garage, I have a regular 360 and use a floor box fan to help keep it cool, it stops the frezzing issue for me, with 342 cars in my garage that was a lot of data to look at. Of course I lost everything for an unexplained reason and now only have about 12 cars, starting over cause I do like the game.

Hopefully everyone will remind Turn10 of this "problem" when they release the next big thing.....i for one wont be forgetting this.

This is a major problem, and Turn 10 have not ONCE isuues any statement or told its CUSTOMERS that they are trying to fix it.

They have taken us all for a ride.....a ride for our cash.

I recently started playing Forza seriously, and this problem happened to me, too! How do they expect us to play if we have to restart the game every race?  This is ridiculous!

I'd suggest you try a Cache Maintenance as described in this Xbox Support article.

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

i have read every post on this topic and iv experienced the garage of death many many times ..it can be resolved by simply deleting set ups that you no longer use anymore.. and by deleting paint schemes you no longer need ... i had 250 plus cars and an unlimited amount of tunes saved to my 360 .. try deleting setups and paint shemes and selling the cars that seem to be the problem .. i found 8 cars in my garage that everytime i went near them in a lobby my 360 crashed ...

deleted all stuff you no longer need and clear out your cache memory file on your 360 .. build up can cause many problems ...and if anyone has red rings appearing like ive had then its your 360 thats got the problem.. im now on my 6th 360 ...

but clearing out the cache files every month helps to keep the processing speed of your 360 running smoothly .. its just like a pc too many files and it becomes slow and unusable ... also dont rule out maybe some setups are corrupt anyway...

and before anyone bites my head off i dont work for turn 10 or microsoft lol

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

You're right.  I regularly do the Cache Maintenance, and although the instructions say for "graphics" it is like doing a defrag on a computer.  Files do get scattered a bit on the hard drive, and regular maintenance will keep it in good order.  You can also save the paints to the catalog (by car/brand or an individual designs) and they're in a separate file outside the main game save, as are tunes.  Another thing perhaps we don't think about is the saved replays.  I started having trouble, and would need to wait a long time (if the save loaded) and then discovered I had over 200 saved replays.  Really not necessary.  LOL!

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

i have the same problem when i go to my saved replays it wont let me play them for some reason it says i have no replays but when i go to my system folder for forza there are like 180 saved replays, ive deleted them all and i hardly get the "garage of death" anymore ..

its not rocket science to know that the 360 does in fact get clogged up with infromation from downloads demos and saved replays etc and just as a pc it does need regular maintenance

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

But we do forget to do what we should sometimes.  I just checked mine, and found I had 37 "themes" just sitting there.  I don't remember getting those, but since Xbox LIVE launched in 2002, I would imagine I've done a lot of other things I've dis-remembered.  Anyway, no big deal since they're hardly "huge" though I don't need/want them, so in deleting those I picked up another 75 MB, plus maybe 2 MB for gamerpics, then did the Cache Maintenance again.  And will again on November 18 in preparation for the Fall Update.

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

yes i have just done the same 29 themes and 62 gamerpics im never gonna use .. cant even remember downloading them lol

ahhh the fall update thats a good idea dude .. because i sense there is gonna be serious issues with the update ... a lot of freezing consoles bugs and xbox live downtime ahead i fear..

it goes without saying there are goona be issues with the update microsoft havent got a clue what will happen because they have tested it within there own company but to go out to over 10 million people its obvious there are gonna be problems...

i wonder how many people will think its forza 2 still causing the problems lol

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

Actually, there are several thousand people around the world testing NXE right now on, pardon the expression, Live setups in their own regions.  Testing is not done just "in-house" so to speak, but over regular members' own connections, own Internet Service Providers, using their own modems/routers/wireless adapters, and games.

As to problems which happened after the Fall Update, it is very common to blame whatever game the person happens to be playing at the time.  The October 29 server updating, which sent absolutely nothing to local consoles like you and I have, was blamed to all types of things when it had nothing to do with anything for us directly.  It was all behind-the-scenes within the server farm, and we weren't even connected to LIVE and received nothing in the form of a download/upgrade.

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

I installed the NXE update on my spare 360 specifically to test FM2 and see if the freeze issue would be resolved.

My initial testing with over 300 high layer count custom painetd cars in my garage is positive - I have not had any freezes whne scrolling through the garage as fast as possible.  I still get "pauses" while teh thumbnails load but it has not locked up on me yet.

I also tested for slowdown / popin on Laguna Seca as the first turn always had alot of visible slowdown for me and I can report that is fixed also!

Install time was approximately 10 minutes and the load screens are about the same from disk or HD. (not much change)

Now I just have to wait until the 19 to use Live on my spare box....Wink [;)]

Re: @ Turn 10, PLEASE address the freezing issue.

Hopefully you're part of the official testing, and didn't download NXE from some third-party site.  Otherwise, you've got problems coming up.  Check http://forums.xbox.com/23707099/ShowPost.aspx and http://forums.xbox.com/1/22420090/ShowPost.aspx#22420090 for more sources of information.
