Are these trees just placeholder?
Today IGN revealed 4 screenshots about 2 of the Japanese cars on Forza 2. Car modeling is nice, lighting is a lot better and cartoony crap and "not better than GTHD" crap is retarded. But look at the trees. It's flat.
I won't say that Forza 2 sucks or Turn 10 is lazy kind of freakin crap as it's completly wrong and retarded statement, but who likes flat trees really?
I think that those trees will be replaced in future version(at least those trees near the track) but please comfirm: Are these trees just a placeholder or, I don't think that it is but, are they really 'completed' trees?
BTW this looks cool.

You can't find real animation in Japan; They make 'anime', not 'animation'.

Re: Are these trees just placeholder?
I doubt you'll notice the difference between a 2D tree and a 3D when your blowing by them in a race. I do see your point, and it makes for a better picture in photomode with 3D trees.

Your only saying that because it's pretty obvious this is yet another comprimise to ensure that the game is actually released sometime this year. Realistic trees probably got the axe around the same time as 12 cars and all the other tracks, and we will have to wait and see if they actually have the 300+ cars they said they would.
Your flashy routine can not keep up with the speed and elusiveness of BROKEN RHYTHM. My Gamertag is "HALOBOT v03420" so add me if anyone wants to race when game comes out.

and I guess it wouldn't surprise you that at the release the game appears only to have a downgrade system (instead of upgrade) and only a CarGlass service for putting new windscreens in the car instead of the layer-editor right? I mean, COME OOON!!

Re: Are these trees just placeholder?
Yea sorry I just guess I got tired of always beleiving what I hear. It seems to be working well for you though. What are you even saying about the topic anyway? Are you saying that it's obvious to you, and should be to me, that the trees are placeholders because of how crappy they look, or are you saying that I should just be happy that they are letting me have crappy trees in the game at all, because they could take them out at any second so that they can make framerate?

Crap. I just wanted to ensure the placeholder trees, so I was waiting for an answer from Turn 10. Hey, Even Forza 1 didn't have that kind of trees. Do you really think that there will be a worse-than-Forza1 tree in Forza 2?

Don't lose hope just based on my opinion because I am only making a hypothesis I don't know for sure, but yea my opinion is that this late into production, and given to a big media outlet like IGN, those pictures are probably the best we will see of the game unless it is delayed again, which I don't think would happen. But I also don't think crappy looking trees will spoil the game, they may ruin the pictures in photomode that have trees in them, but with some nice motion blur you really shouldn't notice it in race unless your looking for it. Especially if the after race replys look anything like that second picture, because that one's motion blur is really good.

So it seems like you have completely opposite opinion from me...
Firstly... You think that it's the best we will see but I completely disagree with your opinion, considering Turn 10 even used 3-week old build on GDC presentation. Also I think that you don't know the case of Rainbow Six Vegas. R6V had bad framerate even 3 weeks before its release and in the final build it was just smooth. And when it comes to Splinter Cell Double Agent, textures suddenly enhanced(a lot) around a week(or two) before the release of the game. Forza 2 comes out on May and there are plenty of times to fix these thing...
And why am I so disturbed on this tree thing? Well, that's because... it's a problem IMO. When you race, yeah when you run you can't see these trees cleanly because it looks blurred. But when you stop because of crash, or slow your car to pass the turn, you can actually see these trees. And there is a problem on photomode. That's a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig problem. Photomode became very fun mini game in recent racing games. Taking a good photo from our race is fun, and addictive, but when things look ugly in our photo, it's not good. It hurts one fun factor of racing game.
Well, I agree with you that you can't see these trees when you race, but be advised, I highly doubt that these trees will be the final one. You can be very, very much positive on this thing. And still, I want someone from Turn 10 to see this post and say "Those are placeholder LOL" ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Re: Are these trees just placeholder?
I would love to see the trees, or anything, get better looking between now and May and I know that other games have changed vastly very soon before there launch (hopefully we'll see something like that with Halo 3) but I always kinda got the idea from pitpass reports and other press things that I have read that the pictures we are seeing this late in the game, and at this point in FM2's marketing blitzkrieg, is pretty much what we will get in May. And I agree that the photos do need to look really good from photomode or else that kinda makes them no fun, but just look at the second picture you posted and doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside for motion blur? It's just like beer goggles but for trees instead of ugly people hahaha.

Uh, no, I see that you are not trolling at all, but since teh Enzo Ferrari screenshots on January, it had constant improvements on car and environment, and it's still improving. Also, compare (edit)Enzo screenshot and Zonda screenshot-Zonda one which was released recently has better lighting.(/edit)
On the car modeling-side, reflection looks a bit unnatural(because of some polygon problem) and I don't think that these problems will be completely fixed because it's related to car modelling which takes a lot of time to work. But Forza 2 has worse-than-Forza1 trees? I'd say NOT AT ALL. There are a problem that can be fixed and can't be fixed. Forza 2 has both and tree one is the former. And in any case, these problems are not "too" big, so no more delay is required as most of the problems will be fixed, and still not fixed problems are not that serious. I keep reading posts like 'delay this game for better graphic', but I'd say that we can see the graphic that will satisfy most people without any delay.
Seeing your post you are now too pessimistic on this game. Be positive-at least in these tree things ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
Added: And in case that it's a final tree modeling... I would say, 'Aww damnit!' and just wait this game once again; Seems like tree can't stop me from anticipating this game though ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif)

Uh, no, I see that you are not trolling at all, but since teh Enzo Ferrari screenshots on January, it had constant improvements on car and environment, and it's still improving. Also, compare two Murcielago screenshots-one was out on February and the other one was out on March. Recent one has better lighting.

Alright I succede to you that you definitley have superior knowledge of the graghical improvements that have been occuring to the game as I couldn't really tell (not downplaying those improvements just acknowledging that I don't have the eye or will to see them) And I also didn't play FM1 so I don't know about the trees in that one, but if you say the were better than what is in those pics then I would assume that these are placeholders, especially if they are still implementing graphics features like you say. Now I want somebody to come in and say that these are placeholders too.

Sorry but the Turn 10 staff can't you reach right now about your question because they are to busy finishing a game before launch.

The tree is flat due to the frame buffer grab; on the screen capture the pic would get depth

I would rather have them spend more time polishing up the car models, instead of some stupid trees that I'll hardly be looking at anyways.

No, you will have an aerial camera, you would notice, there are no flat trees.
