Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
B18C5 Tom:Without this useful info all this is is yet another topic to complain about Turn 10/Forza2. Complaining doesn't mean anything if you won't tell the tech guys some of the real info they need. Also of these "hundreds of thousands of gamers with this problem" why are there only 30 in this topic? There are currently 35/36 replies, about 7 of which are not even new posts with new info, but more argumentative or rebuttals against claims that it's the actual game's fault and not the console.
You make it sound like this is a problem experienced by the majoroty of the community, yet an overwhelming 30 people have thus far replied to the topic at hand.
Funny that you and the other people defending Turn 10 and whatever else.... your doubt... are still too ignorant to see the point of this thread. All the information I'm asking is all I feel is necessary at this point. The purpose of this thread is to get numbers. If you had any kind of sense at all you would know right off the top that 1) Not everyone has access to the internet 2) Not everyone knows about the Forza site, even less about the Forums, 3) Not everyone is aware of this specific thread within the forums. I'm positive that if there were huge banners and advertisements on every site on the internet, every newspaper, every billboard in the city, AND if you didnt have to register to view/post in this thread, you would start to see those hundreds of people. I'm well aware that other games potentially break the 360, which is why i SPECIFICALLY ask in question 4. " 4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza?"
So, for anyone who has yet to experience the 3 Red Lights, for those who have yet to freeze in Forza, congratulations, you're lucky. This thread is for people who have a broken 360, as it states in the topic, due to Forza. And the aforementioned question 4 is there to try to further determine that it is an issue with Forza.
Please continue on with this thread, as I will be calling to talk to reps at Microsoft on Monday. If necessary, everyone on here can be contacted by email, or private message, to get any more information. Until then, the 5 questions will do.
The more we have here, obviously, the better.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
VeNoM SHoT: Please fill this out if your 360 has encountered 3 Red Lights after playing Forza 2. If Forza has broke more than one of your systems, fill this out once for each additional one. Fill in the following so we can keep this pretty organized:
1. Where are you from? CANADA 2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 6 MONTHS 3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. XBOX 360 running fine all the games, no crashes what so ever. Played Forza2 for a week, started to freeze, then constant freezing then the red ring of death 4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? NO 5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?Sent in, no cost, lost 3 weeks of gaming...

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Louisiana, US.
2. Since March of 2006.
3. The ground was disappearing on a couple of tracks. The system would then give me a dirty disc error even though the disc is spotless. I had a couple of freezes while using the livery editor.
4. I had a couple of freezes while playing Rainbow Six: Vegas but nothing worth crying over.
5. I have sent it in for repair, actually just dropped it off. I had to pay 130 bucks because my warranty expired in march.
Go figure, my warranty expires just before my console dies. The guy at the UPS store knew what was in the box before he even had a chance to read the shipping label. As soon as I opened the door he said "Another 360?" and shook his head with disgust. I feel the same way. Something needs to be fixed.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Where are you from? Ohio, USA
2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 1 year and 8 months
3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. I played Forza 2 for a few hours and started to notice the frezzing right at the start/finish line when going to start the race. You would go out 10 feet a freeze. And right before my 360 got the Red Rings I froze everytime I would try to look at the overall top players time on any track or my friends times.
4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? Nothing like this, somtimes it would freeze but it would be like weeks appart when I'm talking about it freezing not days or hours.
5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? Yes, it's in McAllen, Texas right now getting repaired. Like I told the M$ Rep. on the phone, "I've spent thousands in your two consoles and you're not going to help me out at all!?" So yes I feel like they screwed me out of $140. I went through two original Xbox's as well, can't they get it right...?

Way to go with the personal attacks. Shows your maturity level. If nobody at Microsoft or turn 10 helps you then perhaps you can call them "Poopy Head" or some other clever name and you'll get your way.
:smacks forehead:
I hope you all (except for this guy) get the problem straightened out. Again I know I'd be super pissed if my 360 crapped out, but I'd also take a much more logical stance and try to get common facts cleared up amongst those who had the problems. Descriptions of the problem will do very little to clear this matter up.

Quite a mature stance, yourself... Sure kid, whatever boosts your ego. As I've said I'm in contact with Microsoft and what you're trying to throw in here is completely irrelevant to the issue, saying the serial numbers of the consoles have something to do with why they're crashing.....? The questions I'm asking provides enough info to get the conclusion that they need. You're doing nothing but adding to the problem by posting here and trying to sway attention towards yourself... Just drop it and let the thread continue to stack the data that is required, without the technical data that is irrelevant at this point in time. You have no idea what you're talking about, nor who I'm working with and what they've asked for.

There is absolutly nothing in this thread that is helpful to anyone. There is no useful data being collected.
It's too bad your approach to this whole thing is so backwards. Nothing is going to come of this.
Does the game cause the box to fail? It might cause some but thats because those box's have problems. If it was the game everyone's would fail... You're theories are just that ..guesses and all you are gathering is circumstantial evidence that means nothing. There are threads just like this one for every major release that comes out..every dashboard update etc. If you put your energy towards making microsoft answer for the crappy console then you might get somewhere. But , you want to continue to call those of us who don't agree with you idiots and go after turn 10 to fix it. (which they can't) You're in for a long wait.

I'm not going after Turn 10 to fix it. This is being presented to Microsoft and they are calling me directly next week about it.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
Aww that's cute that you called me a kid.
Last time I checked 28 years of age > 20 years of age, moron.
I thought 28 years of age was far from being a kid, but then again I seem to be dealing with some butt-hurt boy who can't try to tackle a technical issue LOGICALLY so I guess I should expect anything from you.
You think that serial numbers for consoles is irrelevant? Jesus you are the moron in this topic, not me. Do you not realize that perhaps there is a lot/build group that could be part of, or the entire root of the problem here? Serial numbers or production dates could help lead to finding that perhaps a certain number of 360s seem to be having issues with this game because something about their build is the problem as opposed to the game itself.
When cars have recalls or problems the FIRST thing they do is ask for the VIN number to try and determine if a certain build date/production run has anything to do with the problems. Same could apply here, and don't BS me like you're actually working with some important reps or anything, because any rep would want the serial number first and foremost of the consoles affected. Hell any manufacturer wants to know the serial number first and foremost for any sort of problems, so nice try genius - keep trying to look smart though, you may inpress SOMONE around here, right?
Do me a favor and get ONE Microsoft rep you've been working with here to post his thoughts on why getting the serial number ISN'T needed, thanks.

...then it's a HARDWARE ISSUE like I said! Why would Microsoft call YOU directly about a problem with Turn 10's SOFTWARE?
Oh my God just when I thought this couldn't get any lamer...

Lol @ personal attacks. Microsoft's name is on this game, and they weren't notified of these issues. Like I said they're researching to figure out what the problem really is, and watching this thread, to see what's really going on. Apparently you can't comprehend that. As far as your serial number theory, NOT true, because I got a brand new Xbox manufactured in 2007, and within one week of playing Forza on it, its gone. Then we have people on here saying their Xbox is a year and a half old and theyre having a problem... Hmm... So this has something to do with a group of Xbox's? Obviously not. This is both a hardware and a software compatability issue. Go have your luck at disrupting another thread.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
Location: California 360 Age: I've had it since Sept of last year, so not quite a year. Problems with Forza2 on 360: I've had the game crash 2x, not red light, but just flatout crash. I felt the vents and what not and the 360 itself was not hot at all. The disc however was REALLY hot to touch, never had that before. Both crashes occured while switching cars in the My Cars screen of the Career mode.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Los Angeles, CA 2. 2 months! 3. I play Halo all the time, and everything worked great! i even tested out this xbox 360 by playing for over 24 hours straight, and it was all perfect! then i played forza 2, great game, worked great! but after about 2 weeks of play on xbox live, it began to freeze at least 3 times a day. soon it increased, and now i can barely enjoy the game. 4. Forza 2 is the only game. 5. I am a full time student, i was barely able to afford the used system, but the previous owner said it was not under warranty anymore, but he had sent it in for repairs prior because of freezing issues.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
Tell you what I will do.
I'm going to go home and log onto Live and have some hours of racing fun with 6-7 other real-life friends who have ZERO problems with the 360s and/or Forza 2.
...and after we're done I'll be sure to pour a touch of Beer (you know, since you are not old enough to drink yet youngster) out for you and shed a tear because you can't enjoy this amazing game.
Cheers.

1. Atlanta, Georgia
2. I have had my 360 since launch.
3. My xbox started to freeze about a week after I bought Forza Motorspot 2. It was only once in a while at first, now it always freezes about 2 minutes after I start it up. If it doesn't freeze I recieve the red lights.
4. No problems.
5. I do not have the money to send it in for repair right now. I am just really pissed off.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Where are you from?
Virginia
2. How long have you had your 360 before it died?
It was a launch day 360.
2b. Premium Xbox 306. Born on 2005-10-28.
3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights.
I did not actually get three red lights. I got one red light in the lower right quadrant of the ring. The xbox would boot with a screen that said "system error" or something similar with an error code at the bottom of the screen. the error code was "E 74". After contacting the xbox support line I was told that I would have to send my xbox in for repair. I have not decided if I will do that yet or not (I would have to pay and I have another 360 to use). Before the xbox became unusable I was having issues with grapahics artifacts in Forza 2. The artifacts I was seeing were quite different from what others have described. The artifacts I was seeing were in the form of greyish dots all over the cars. These dots would flash in and out very quickly. Also, the shadowing was all wrong. rather than seeing smooth shadows I saw very jaggy shadows with rough transitions in the shadow color gradient (the aliasing looked all crewed up on shadows). This behaviors started on a Saturday afernoon after playing forza for a few hours. At first a power-down / cool-off cycle of about 15 minutes would cause the issue to go away for a time. It would usually come back within 20 minutes or so. Eventually, the following Wednesday, the graphics artifacts becamse constant (did not matter how long xbox was running). On Wednesday evening the xbox failed to boot and displayed the error I described above.
4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza?
No. I can count the lock ups I've had on one hand. Forza has never locked up on me.
5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?
Not yet. I will have to pay if I decide to send it.
I would also like to add that I do not believe that forza is the true cause of my problem. I believe my problem was caused by my xbox overheating. My xbox had worked fine in its current location since launch day. My personal belief is that Forza pushes the xbox to its max. Because of this any xbox with even the slightest defect (be that manufacturing, location, dirt, etc) has a good chance of developing a hardware problem while playing this game. I do not believe there is much T10 can do about this. This is something microsoft will have to address with hardware revisions (or maybe they already have).

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Dallas, TX 2. 3 Days, got the game on release day (5/30) and my 360 (which I'd bought in Nov for the original Forza2 release date) died on June 2nd at about 10pm. 3. Didn't get 3 red lights, but the video died... 360 would still boot and give audio, but video went kaput... 4. Zero problems before this... (although the current "used" xbox I purchased temporarily is displaying a LOT of jitters and jumpiness, always right at the green light, and then when there is excessive tire smoke on the track, it will be going back tonight or tomorrow). 5. I made a call to Xbox Support on June 2nd just before they closed, saying they'd dispatch a prepaid box for shipment in for repairs... and I have YET to receive the damn thing... been meaning to call and ask the status, but I was away on vacation for two weeks (June 11th to June 21st) but had a neighbor getting my mail and packages while I was away.
I run at full 1080p by the way... not that the game really displays at that, but thats what I run it at.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1.Illinois 2.1 year 2 months 3.bought forza, first time playing freezes within the first 20 minutes of being played. i go play other games for a few hours. come back to play forza it actually let me race a few races before freezing. the next day the same thing, only a few races then freezes. eventually i get 15 races done and then it wont let me do any more races, it just freezes on the loading screen everytime. so i go on forums and get freaked out from other peoples horror stories of the 3 red lights being caused by forza. but i never thought my console would break so i put it in one last time, then it freezes and never turns back on again. 3 red lights. 4.never had any problems with my console, other than the once in a long while freeze. but it would work right after and would never freeze again. my buddy had graw and it would freeze on him constantly, i borrowed it from him and it never froze. but then i get forza and i have nothing but problems, he on the other hand has no problems with forza. 5.i sent it in for repairs last wednesday. and yes im paying for it.
i have a question for microsoft. if there were problems with consoles and you didnt acknowledge it and said it wasnt a problem and that people had to pay, then you finally own up to it sometime in late 2006 and tell people that if they repaired the console and the customer paid for it, you will refund them their money and you make a statement saying that you guys are extending warranties, due to the xbox 360 being faulty. how can you say that it only affects the 2005 consoles, when you didnt own up to the problem until late 2006? i seriously dont think you guys were working on the "problem" when you guys wouldnt even admit it was a problem with the 360 itself. therefore i think microsoft should be paying for every repair and not the consumer. i personally just paid $180 on 3 games in the past month, and now i have to pay an additional $140 to actually play them. im pretty sure the problem still isnt fixed. i know of someone who just bought the elite, and it gave them the 3 red lights already. yeah thats right the brand new elite will break too. something needs to be done and by that i dont mean the customer who already paid $400+ on the console, needs to pay extra money to fix it.
