Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1. Where are you from?

    Coachella Valley, CA.

    2. How long have you had your 360 before it died?

It's my second.  The first was replaced after it broke playing Dead Rising.  The new one, which broke playing Forza 2 is a under a year.  At least that is about how long ago I was sent the replacement.

    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights.

Played Forza 2 for about 3 minutes and started getting the frozen screen.  Returned the game, but the new one had same issue.  It would play less and less before the freeze each time.  2 days later, I got the 3 red lights.

    4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza?

    Nope.

    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?

Sent it in already.  They got it over a week ago, but have still not sent it back.  Yes, I had to pay.   >.<

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

Venom Shot, those are your emotions talking.  Sure you are upset.  Maybe even upset at the game because you feel it was responsible for breaking your 360.  However, this is obviously a hardware problem.  Large numbers of 360 die playing a common game anytime there is a new popular game.  It's a numbers game.

Let's say for a moment however that you are right, and games that ask for more power than 360 can give.  Would you really want software developers not to push the hardware?  Think about it.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1. Where are you from? Pennsylvania, United States
    2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 18 days
    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. The Xbox never made it to get the 3 red lights, it ran gears of war just fine, once I began to play Forza it began to create artifacts.
    4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? The game crashes all the time on both my old xbox and my new one
    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? I had Best Buy's warranty so I just walked in and exchanged it, but its a huge pain in the ass to unhook all of the cables behind my TV. So I guess you could say I had to pay in mental anguish.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

How about the hundreds of thousands of people who are having no issues.  How do you explain that?

Do noy plug your xbox into a power strip.

Plug it directly into a wall outlet.

Keep the console and power block well ventilated.

Do not keep it in an enclosed entertainment center.

Do not use the horrible intercooler fan attachment as this thing draws power first and messes with the xbox available power.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

I agree with Boog8679, RROD problems have been long going before Forza 2 was ever on the shelf.  I have only had 1 Xbox 360 and it is still working, this seems to be a rare case and I have been playing Forza 2 since launch date in the US.  I will point out that games being developed are not like a space ship on TV you cant simply "Push the hardware harder than it’s intended to go", consoles are developed to give game developers one set of specs to develop for.  If Forza 2 pushes the 360 to max out its FACTORY SPECS and the system breaks then that’s just Microsoft’s problem in that they did not properly design and test the 360.  Now I am not saying that the whole RROD isn’t completely Fing ridicules.  I have 2 friends who have both had to swap out there 360s.  One had it happen just before Forza 2 came out and the other does not even own Forza 2.  I really think this list is a good idea but should be presented to Microsoft and not the developers of this game.  I can assure you, and I know you don’t care, that they did not break your system.

Anyway don’t take it from me, here are a couple of links on the RROD, if you actually go through them I think you will find that Forza 2 just happens to be another victim of crappy hardware made by Microsoft.

    http://www.xbox360defective.com/

This link might be biased but if you read some of the submitted entries in the middle of the page you will see people who are having RROD problems NOT because of Forza 2.

    http://blogs.mercurynews.com/aei/2007/06/a_qa_with_todd_holmdahl_the_hardware_guy_at_microsoft_about_xbox_360_failures.html

This is an AWSOME interview with Todd Holmdahl, he is the person responsible for the quality of the Xbox 360.  DEFINATLY READ THIS IF YOU HAVE HAD A RROD PROBLEM.  Then when you are done with that Read the comments, you will see horror story after horror story NOT related to Forza 2.

There are more web sites I can link, but I think I made my point.  Like I said this list is a GOOD IDEA, but I think you should present it to Microsoft instead of Turn 10 as I know Forza 2 did not break the system.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1. Bentonville, AR

    2. 16 months

    3. Simulated a race late at night, turned it off and went to bed. The next morning I had the three flashing red lights whenever I turned on the 360.

    4. My 360 locked up *one time* playing Full Auto a year ago. That's the only other problem I've ever experienced in 16 months and countless hours.

    5. I sent it in for repair (got the box from UPS and sent it in today, actually). Yes, I had to pay and yes I heavily considered not spending the money and saving for a different console.

    1. Where are you from? Tavernier, Florida
    2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 8 months, (later November 06)
    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights.
My 360 started freezing during gameplay or on menus. There would be a loud screeching sound followed by the screen going all blocky and pixelated and it would freeze. It would do this on startup of the console sometimes as well
    4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? After the first few times in Forza, I could play other games but eventually it spread to other games until my console encountered the 3 rings.
    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? I just got the box today but I plan on sending it in tomorrow, so far repairs are being covered by MS.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1. El Paso, Texas

    2.  15 months

    3. I put the game in and it prompt me to get an update, after the update (patch) went through,it kept freezing. I  restarted the game about two more times before I started getting the three red lights.

    4. I had a similar problem when I bought the update to get new guns and cars for the game Crackdown. After I bought the new content, the system froze and erased all my progress for that particular game. I called microsoft and said that they were going to call me because they were going to investigate it. Never received a call though.

    5. I called Microsoft and they were very insensitive about the situation and they said that they could repair it but I had to pay them $115,  my 1 year warranty had expired. Although I did speak with a supervisor, she denied the possibility of being the update or the game for that matter. I strongly feel it was the game or the update as I had not experienced any problems before this.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1) West Chester, PA, US

    2) I had my Xbox 360 for about 18 months or so

    3) I played Forza 2 for about 40 minutes when it froze.  I was able to get it to start back up but it immediately froze again.  This happened a few times and then the Xbox 360 got the 3 red lights.  Eventually I got it to boot again but it then froze again on all games, not just Forza.  (It never froze before that).  Eventually it got to the point where it never booted again.

    4) I never had any problems before Forza 2.

    5) I did send it in for repair as I was under warrenty.  They sent me a refurbished unit 3 weeks later as my original was beyond repair (or beyond repair in the short term).

    1. Where are you from? Canada

    2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? Three months on the first one and then got a brand new one that lasted 3 hours.

    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. Did not get the rings of death but it sure did die a horrible death. Playing Freeza 2 and of course it froze then started making horrible grinding noises and then gave a disc unreadable error. Turned in the crapped out console for another one brought it home played Freeza 2 for three hours and bam same noises and disc unreadable error. Took back Freeza 2 to EB games for a store credit and went back to the retailer to get my third xbox. Works just great again minus Freeza 2.

    4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? NEVER until Freeza 2!!!!

    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? Nope got two replacements from retail store I bought it, of course they are under warranty.

    2. How long have you had your 360 before it died?
    -
    8 months

    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights.
I was playing FM2 and the game froze during one of the Nissan Manufacturer's races.  I rebooted started the race back up and it froze while I was still sitting on the starting grid then flashed the RRoD.  Rebooted again and the 360 ran for about 30 seconds, then got the RRoD again.

    4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? -
It has frozen once before while playing GRAW, but other than that, no.

    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?
    - Yes, sent it in under warranty (so no, I didn't have to pay), getting it back today.

    1. Where are you from?
    Belgium - Europe

    2. How long have you had your 360 before it died?
1st box was bought dec 24th 2005. Got RoD somewhere in july 2006 and received a new one (manufacture date may 2006).

    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights.
I don't get the red lights (yet). I do get a lot of problems with the disc unreadable error. Most of the time after about 30 to 40 min. of playing, parts of the track are not drawn anymore. They just appear as a black box. I can finish the race, and then get the disc unreadable error. Rebooting helps only for a couple of minutes.

    4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza?
I had the disc unreadable error a few times with Gears of War but not anywhere as frequent as with Forza2. Also a lot of disc unreadable errors with Far Cry.

    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?
    Not yet.
    No RoD.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

I think the most important info is being left off of these posts:

Serial number and production date of the 360 that died

Without this useful info all this is is yet another topic to complain about Turn 10/Forza2.  Complaining doesn't mean anything if you won't tell the tech guys some of the real info they need.

Also of these "hundreds of thousands of gamers with this problem" why are there only 30 in this topic?  There are currently 35/36 replies, about 7 of which are not even new posts with new info, but more argumentative or rebuttals against claims that it's the actual game's fault and not the console.

You make it sound like this is a problem experienced by the majoroty of the community, yet an overwhelming 30 people have thus far replied to the topic at hand.

I hate it that Microsoft obviously had a really crappy run on 360 hardware and won't step up to fix it, because if it was the game then EVERYONE would be having problems.  you guys should focus on finding the actual connection between everyone who has had the exact same failure types and pool your findings together - again otherwise all you're doing is complaining.

    4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza?  No

    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? Game UK swapped consoles and game no questions asked (so far)
