Fill this Form out if your 360 froze or died after playing Forza 2
After the insane amount of people who have encountered problems with Forza 2 breaking/freezing their system, I've decided to make a thread to try to get an actual count of people who've had their Xbox 360 mess up since their Forza purchase... Please fill this out if your 360 encountered Freezing or 3 Red Lights after playing Forza 2. If Forza has broke more than one of your systems, fill this out once for each additional one.
Fill in the following so we can keep this pretty organized: 1. Where are you from? 2.a. How long have you had your 360? 2.b. Do you know the Manufacture Date and/or Model? (ex. Core, Premium, Elite) 3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before your 360 got 3 red lights or froze. 4. Has your 360 had issues with Forza demo, or problems on other games besides Forza? 5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?
(You shouldn't have to pay if it got 3 red lights, as it is covered by the new 3 year warranty. If you've already paid prior to July 5th, 2007, you should be reimbursed by September 22nd. If not, contact Microsoft at your country's Xbox support number, found at Xbox.com) *** I've contacted Microsoft and navigated them
directly to this thread and forum. It is being escalated internally to
Microsoft representatives and they've agreed to call me back Monday,
July 9th, after they've reviewed and discussed this matter and the
results.
____________________________________________________________________________
Update July 5th, 2007:
I would like to thank everyone who has participated in this thread,
submitted their information and kept it so organized and mature. The recent news (July 5th) of Microsoft extending the warranty to 3 years,
I'm sure it's pretty safe to agree that we've made somewhat of a
difference; With my phone call (June 28th) to Microsoft to make them
aware of this specific Forza issue and thread/community, along with
everyone who has participated and posted their personal encounters and
problems with this game and their 360, it should be safe to assume that
we have brought this issue directly to the attention of the right
people. With all of the previous + recent negative media attention focusing on the 360's high failure rate, I would call this thread, along with the other 900 post 50000 view "crash" thread, the cherry on top. ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
I would like to encourage that people continue to post here if their
360 encounters issues with Forza, as Microsoft is still monitoring it,
and I'd think that seeing the number of crashes/red lights and
symptoms, it would inspire them to continue working on things on their
side to continue improving the system for compatibility. I
guess, technically, we owe the Forza team a "Thank You", because
without their technically/graphically superior & demanding game...
None of this would have been possible. ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) - Chris, a.k.a. VeNoM SHoT

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. From California, United States 2.a. 1 year, 5 months 2.b. November 27th, 2005, Core System 3. Experienced long loading times, where the disc would (audibly) stop spinning, and then start up, stop, and then start again. While racing I would hear clicking noises. Aside from that, it was generally running fine, until I started up time trials and downloaded the #1 ghost to race against... I got the rolling start, and as soon as it was supposed to start my 1st lap time, the game froze. I couldnt press any buttons or anything, so I turned off the system. When I turned it back on... 3 Red Lights. 4. 3 or 4 freeze-ups in Rainbow Six Vegas, but no Red Lights; Ran perfectly fine aside from that, on all other games. 5. Called and explained the issue, but my box was 5 months out of warranty; Was told I would have to pay $130 for repair. I did not pay, and instead got a new box, and........ : __________________________________________________________________________2.a. 6 days; Brand new 360, only played Forza 2 on it. 2.b. December, 2006, Core System 3. Disc made clicking noises while playing the game, very often. Huge stretched of track were missing, no textures or color... Just a huge black hole in the ground. People and objects around the track were disappearing and not loading... Pop-up close distance, jagged shadows on and around car. Very long loading times. 4. No problems with any other games, since i ONLY played Forza 2 on the systems. 5. Sent it in for repair, still under warranty since Forza ruined it in UNDER one week's time...

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1) United States, New Jersey
2) 7 Months
3) Was racing on Sebring, when xbox froze completely with a buzzing sound coming from the speakers. once i restarted my console, my dashboard was all fuzzy then my screen went gray with a malfunction error, and the 3 lights of death appeared on my console.
4) aside from forza the only game with a crashing issue was NFS: Carbon which was later patched and corrected. note my xbox maintained responsiveness, i would have to eject the cd to get back to dashboard.
5) I was under warranty with gamestop, no.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Pa. USA 2. 6 months 3. The game would Freeze up offline during split screen and carrer modes, a purple tinted grid would sometimes appear. When Forza 2 freezes during a race my MS wheel would vibrate even after the consule was turned off. It would only stop when the consule was restarted or when the AC cord and battery pack were removed. 4. I have never experienced any lock ups of freezing with any other game before Forza 2. 5. My xbox 360 is still under it's MS warrenty and they will be paying for shipping and repairs.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Buffalo, NY
2. Had my 360 a year and a half
3. Played the game for 3 days without problems, started having missing sections in the track, missing cars in My Cars menu, then I started getting the disc read error messages constantly with freezing, then I got an odd message telling me "To play this game, please put in an Xbox 360 console" which is what I was playing on. Finally my box refused to read anything anymore,
4. Never had a problem with ANY other game and never froze or received any error messages.
5. Yes, sent it in for repair June 4th, still waiting to get it back. Today is June 28th. (Under warranty)
Doesn't matter though, I lost a month of gaming thanks to FORZA 2. And thanks Microsoft and Turn 10 for just completely ignoring everything we say and thanks for no explanation either. You can bet I will never pick up another Turn 10 game and you can also bet I will never put this demon seed (FORZA 2) in my disc tray again IF I EVER GOT MY BOX BACK.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Keswick, VA
2. Playing off and on for about 5-6 months
3. The screen started turning green/yellow. All textures were a weird color. I would restart the xbox and it would be fine until putting in forza. Eventually it didn't matter what game I had in it would start turning green or yellow. After restarting a few times nothing would show up on my tv at all. Audio still worked but tv fails to recognize any video input from the xbox.
4. Nothing wrong with it before forza except the occasional disk read error and the weird grinding noises from the dvd drive when turning the system off.
5. Called tech support. They are sending me a box now. My xbox is still under warranty, luckily!

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Scotland UK 2. The first one lasted 6 Months, This one I've just sent for repair lasted 5. 3. I got a few freezes while flicking through the cars in my garage in Forza 2, chalked it up to me flicking too quick for the 360 to keep up. Then i started to get a few graphical glitches in the game went to the dash and the issues with the glitches kept going switched the 360 off let it cool then on it went again booted forza loaded a race then Crunch....screen froze and the RRoD. I ejected the disc so avoid it getting stuck in the machine then switched off the 360 then back on again 30 mins later RRoD no boot. 4. not one game has failed on me not even Gears of War or Graw 2 which i belive got reported as bricking the 360. 5. Left for the Graveyard this morning under warranty. The better not ask me for £85 ($160) to send me a new one as I have also heard that being reported over here in the UK. Once I get this one back I'll be on my 3rd and if that one fails it's off to PS3 land (I can get a pre-owned one dirt cheap 60Gb)

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. I am from Port Saint Lucie, Florida
2. July 17th will be one year (bought XBOX 360 whenn NCAA 07 came out)
3. Played Forza the night I bought it...no problems...was playing it the next day with a friend...we stepped outside to smoke....came back in and had the ring of death (all 4 lights lit up red)
4. No. I play on avarage 5-6 hours mon-fri and 8-12 hours SAT & SUN. I've never had a problem of any kind with my XBOX 360. Heat has never been an issue as it sits directly under the biggest AC Vent in my house...if I stand near the xbox I have to wear a sweater because I keep my house 72 degrees and it is much colder than that where the xbox sits.
5. Not yet...that is my project for tomorrow. I did purchase a new xbox the day it died...If I pause my game then come back...I get can't read disc message....really sucks when you have two laps to complete an endurance race!

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Clemson, SC 2. 1 year and 2 weeks 3. Forza 2 froze during a race. Reset 360, system froze at 360 logo. Reset once more (power off / on), 360 froze almost at the exact same place. Took Forza 2 out of the drive, restarted 360. Booted up fine to the dashboard, played Prince of Persia demo as a test, no more freezing, turned it off. Next day, started 360 and made it to the title screen of Forza 2. Turned it off, turned 360 back on, lights briefly flashed green on console and then red. 360 wouldn't boot, took it back to Best Buy, exchanged with product replacement plan for new console. Swapped out the hard drives, took the new 360 home, played Forza 2 for about 3 hours straight, no issues. This last play was the most recent. 4. Rare freezing with Oblivion, Gears of War. Disc read errors mainly, power cycle always fixed those issues. 5. My 360 that died was out of warranty by 2 weeks. I was forced to exhaust my product replacement plan ($50 on top of purchase).

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. Brooklyn, NY
2. 1 year and 5 months
3.I notice while joining online games, it frozed my xbox 360 around 4 times. On the fourth time, I restarted my xbox 360, and noticed red ring of lights. I was freaking out, because I never had this problem before. I turned off my xbox 360 for an hour, and it worked for 3 more hours playing Forza Motorsport 2. Afterwards, I left my xbox 360 idle for an hour on Forza Motorsport 2 in-game menu ,and turned it off once I returned. When I turned it back on, I saw 3 red rings of light on my xbox 360, and tried every possible solution to fix my xbox 360 console... It never turned back on again without the 3 red rings of light...
4. Nope, not even close
5. No, my warrenty expired, and Customer Support wanted $140 dollars for repairs including shipping. Instead I bought a new xbox 360 console, because I did not wanted to risk getting a reburish console, principle of the matter that it was not my fault that my xbox 360 died and i'm paying for it, 18004MY XBOX seem to started outsourcing it customer serivce (got an incoherent Indian guy), did not wanted to wait 2-4 weeks.
Additional comment: I'm with a non functional xbox 360 wondering what I'm going to do with it. I'm exetremely upset with this situtation and disappointed at my favorite game developer Turn 10 and Microsoft Gaming Studios.

one of my friends literally expierenced these same symptoms, he has to send it into Microsoft too, it is strange how my friend and i both got the game at the same time, and both ours went and broke within the same day.
this game came out by me on the 1st due to the holiday release. so its been 1 month and 10 broken xboxs from 1 game reported. i hope they patch the game and fix the issue

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1) Qld, Australia
2) Since March 2006
3) freezing and audio skipping and then death, I got about 3 races done before it failed completely.
4) No, never in the whole time i had it.
5) No, not yet
I am taking Forza 2 in for a refund, i don't want to risk this happening again, despite the claims that no game CAN cause a console to die, this game HAS caused a LOT of consoles to die and that is the undeniable truth here.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
My friend who got me into the game said a lot of people were sending in their consoles after playing Forza 2. I thought that was an odd coincidence so I checked in here, and lo and behold here's a thread for it lol.
1. Where are you from? Lexington, Kentucky 2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? About 9 months 3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. Game froze up when entering a track and the Guide button no worky. So, I pressed power on the console to turn it off and back on again and the Xbox splash screen froze up. I powered off and on again and got the 3 blinky lights. A few more power down and ups gave me 3 red lights so I decided to call tech support. 4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? It had trouble reading a few various discs, but nothing major. 5. Have you sent it in for repair? Yes. Did you have to pay? Nope, still under warranty.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
I actually just joined the forum simply to reply to this thread lol. I'll stick around and see where it goes though. Its a shame this is happening as the game is really good fun.
1. Where are you from? Bradford, United Kingdom. 2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 15 months. (It was a replacement) 3. SHort summary or paragraph of just before you got the 3 red lights. I popped in the game after playing Pro Evolution soccer 6 (worked like a charm) and the television went blank which was rather strange. SO I switched it off and on again but still the red lights remained. Then I tried the cables but to no avail. Very annoyed obviously as this was my second machine. 4. Any previous problems with other titles? I've never had any problems with this current 360 playing other games. It's never frozen on me or made any strange noises. Even with Forza 2, it was fine and then all of a sudden, ka-boom. I didn't get the freezing screens that many are experiencing. 5. Have you sent it in for repair? yup. 6. Paid for repair? Heck no. I was told that my warranty ran out a few months ago (December actually!) but 'Microsoft are very generous and will offer you free fixing' (SIC). I would never pay to have it repaired.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2
1. NC, USA
2. 9 to 10 months.
3. Was getting choppy to play the night before (Friday) and played until Saturday at 1am. On Saturday around noon I turned on the box and after getting into the Forza painting booth, it froze for the first time ever. I restarted the box and went to the auction house to post a car up. At the auction house, it froze a second time. I restarted the box once more, but the 3 rings appeared. I unplugged everything, removed the harddrive and replugged the cables back in only for the 3 rings to still be there. I unplugged it once more while on the phone with tech support and it managed to get to the 360 loading screen, but froze before being able to proceed onwards.
4. I normally used my box for viewing movies, but from the other games I have played, none have caused any issues. I have however put twice the amount of hours into Forza 2 than all other games combined.
5. I loaded the xbox into the shipping box today (Thursday June 28) and I do not have to pay as I was grandfathered into the warranty extension from December.

1. Where are you from? Texas 2. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 6 months 3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. Played Forza 2 for a week with no problems, then the game started to freeze at random points, during the first few minutes. After a week of sporadic freezing, I got the 3 red lights. 4. Has your 360 had many problems on other games, aside from Forza? No. I did not have any problems before Forza 2. 5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? I sent it in for repair over one week ago. They have had it for 6 business days. The first two times I called for an update, I was told it would take 2 business days to repair, by two different people. The third time I called, I was told it would take up to 10 business days. I called again today, on the 6th day, and there is no updated status other than that they have received it. ![Angry [:@]](/emoticons/emotion-12.gif)
From Microsoft's own page, it should take no longer than 5 business days to repair and ship back to me. link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemsetup/xbox360/resources/warrantyupdate.htm

Sorry fellas, but your xbox was going to die anyways. I had one go while at the dashboard. It's a microsoft problem. Read up on it. It is a known thing. I just wonder how long microsoft can go on ignoring / denying it.
Hate to hear about a fallen soldier though. Good luck.

Yeah, keep being ignorant to the issue at hand. Yes, 360s have died in other random cases. That's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about a mass group of people all encountering the same problems with the same game that is causing hundreds if not thousands of 360s to get 3 red lights within the first month of the game's release. There's a bigger issue than just the 360 hardware being known to fail, and apparently this game only increases the chance as well as causes many of them to freeze/crash/3 Red Light. The software is ruining the hardware, by (in simple terms) asking for more power than it can give. Regardless, we need answers, and we need free fixes. And that's what this thread is here to prove. Continue with the evidence guys, lets keep this thing rolling... They can only stay out of the main media for so long.
